I liked the segment of backing down. Back in the late 1970's I worked a little 760hp boat and in high water I backed a single 5 string of ingots and some iron ore from Nitro on the Kanawha River down to the Boggs fleet at Point Pleasant, W Va. Made old Winfield Locks boat first! Love your videos Capt Kyle. They make a old man smile. Been retired 10 years as of yesterday with 48 years under license!
Captain Kyle, this is just upstream of the River des Peres and the southern most mooring of the StL Harbor. Many times have I cleaned this section of the Miss.
Captain Kyle, have you ever heard of a pilot by the name of Jesse Lowery. He worked the river for years and is probably retired by now. He married my first cousin.
“Flanking buoys” Used as visual aid when flanking a turn to judge direction and speed of currents in relation to the vessel, specifically when we are floating at current speed. Primarily younger pilots use them for training.

Hello Captain Kyle. I didn’t know Cape Girardeau had a Bridge Similar to the Stan Musial Memorial Bridge in Downtown St. Louis. 👍🙏
They do. It's the Missouri Route 74/Illinois Route 146. Beautiful area down there.
Sounds like someone started a tow. First time wow.
Looks like the Bridge at Cape Girardeau I cross it on occasions. Bill Emerson Bridge.
You are correct. 👍🏻
