Just a quick point about adding muscle and grappling gas tank- so much of efficiency is skill based. Fat black belts and jacked purple belts can do for 30 min rounds bc they aren’t constantly tense
1:34 everyone that is jacked is strong. If your definition of power is punching power then there’s other things that go into it but it is physically impossible to be muscular and weak.
Awesome video. Currently doing push pull legs as well. Physique feeling good but, I'm not natually strong. My lifting is helping with my power and strength but I still rely on my cardio to give me edge with Muay Thai. I'd likely get murcked with grappling so I've got a long way to go. 80kg, 6ft.
One crucial thing when it comes to stamina is training regimen. A real slim guy who doesn't train cardio will get ran around by a big guy who does. I'm 5'11 145lbs, and I used to gas out way faster than you'd expect from looking at me. All I trained was skills, and not the conditioning. That sounds self explanatory, but I've seen a lot of people fail to consider this
I'm 6'1 and 102kg, and i'm a judoka who played rugby for 8 years, so i'm strong but also fast, powerful but explosive also, i lack a bit of cardio but i can still continue to give a good fight
From a Muay Thai perspective.. Be a Muay Khao, with heavy focus on knees, or an elbow hunter. Think of Nabil Anane. Since you're taller, you can also hit opponents easier with longer head kicks, just like Peter Aerts for example.
5’4 130lbs lean muscle 😭 What’s a good fighting style for me because I usually switch based on my opponents style. For kickers I’ll have a leaned back karate stance to dodge those head kicks then spring forward For pinchers I can go toe to toe with them and have a boxer type stance And grapplers I just try to keep my distance
You're in your head too much. Judging by what you said it sounds like you like to box so get good at boxing. Complement it with wrestling from an MMA gym or join your local school's wrestling team and call it a day.
Im 187cm /6`1 ft and 80kg/176lbs with long legs I do striking and clinching my whole life and I never feel like huge fighter despite my mass and height im speed and with relletnes cardio I dont know my Type but I would never change this artibuite
Thing is, you don’t train for a specific physical characteristic to get good at your sport. You train for your sport, and the characteristics develop on their own. Hone your strengths, and work on your weaknesses. Don’t limit yourself just because it doesn’t fit the expectation of a stereotype that doesn’t even necessarily hold truth to it. That’s like when women say they don’t do XYZ because they’re a Pisces or smth. You don’t let the stereotypes define you, you define yourself. And of course, all power is Owned by God
That isn’t true, GSP trained specifically to get his physique, he did gymnastics/calisthenics type of workouts, he specifically trained to get his physique, same goes for jon jones too, most of the exercises MMA fighters do are power lifter type of exercises, they also do resistance based exercises to punch & kick harder as shown with jon jones doing front kicks with resistance bands on his leg
@@realtruth1448 What you said is LITERALLY what I was talking about. They got their physique by training for their sport, they didn’t get good at their sport by training for their physique. GSP explicitly said this in interviews that he doesn’t train for things like big biceps and whatnot, plus his whole fighting philosophy was geared towards preparing for the specific sport you do (e.g. he’d train hard only for 25 minutes and that was it because that was the allotted fight time in the UFC). Band training isn’t something bodybuilders do and is the epitome of sport-specific training. Powerlifting is a weight training base. You either don’t know what you’re talking about or you just didn’t understand my comment.
The perfect build is skinny with lean muscle mass, it’s obvious, look at the greatest fighters in history, overwhelming majority are skinny with lean muscle mass
I have more Musclar and Hybrid build at 5,9 175-188lbs. And im more Wrestler just focusing on getting Striking just as Up their with my Grappling. And interested in on Choke Submissions and Clinch strike work as well.
With rare fighters like David tua he always had one hit quitter knockout even at his weight and body type he had beyond what seems not possible for humans to do because most aren’t knocking people out in each fights they have in one hit
I'm 5'11 long ass arms long ass legs mid body😂 when I was younger I was good at grappling and submissions, never got the chance to get into combat sport due to being to poor and being around drug addicts
The heavy fighter compared to the muscular fighter is less stiff and in my opinion better cardio. Tyson Fury , Andy Ruiz, heavyweight jones, tuivasa(in terms of not being stiff),
You’re probably an issue outside a ring, but in a combat sport you’d end up fighting guys with more physical attributes because they’re going to taller and longer for the most part at your weight
In wushu many are very slim and lean because of the techniques of that martial art requires nimbleness and flexibility and aerial coordination but then again it’s people out there built like running backs doing wushu
in muay thai , the larger fighters do not get the chance, why ? same reason why models have certain frame they need to be put in. the art , the speed and motions are connected with the frame. to look good, to play good, to express the art, is connected to a certain size. Everything above 170lb is not useful for muay thai.. Mma made a mistake of introducing the hw to the sport. it is just too slow. it does not add to the beauty of it.
Can you make a video off average physique like a skinny dude would be a lean feather or lightweight or maybe a skinny fat dude who be either a middle or heavy weight. God bless bro.
The lower your bodyfat% the better off you are IMO. To a point. There are negative effects at certain levels of leanness. But this depends on the person. Some people can operate normally very lean while others can’t. There are many greats that have some Chubb. But most are heavyweights. And UFC heavyweights are not at their physical peak. That’s why guys like Francis who are a lean 265 can do so well despite being a bit less skilled. While more muscle does require more oxygen. The question is how efficient it is. How much power vs energy you output. I’m not sure if a muscular guy would be at a cardio disadvantage. Like genuinely idk but not as much as most people say id guess.
you won’t put on too much size with lifting if you’re both doing it with combat sports, just eat the way you eat right now and you’ll stay your current weight.
I say depending on what you’re doing maybe don’t do weights to become too stiff. Since I do mma but love to wrestle I do body weight exercises and sometimes with a vest
06:48 just because you’re small and can KO, doesn’t mean you’re an all time great. Mayweather is able to KO, because of years of training. Having the ability to strike the jaw with precision and speed. So him being an “all time great” is not the reason for his knock out power. That’s like saying Kobe was good at basketball because he was an all time great.

I’ve been trying to gain mass in my arms for around two years now, but I’ve been finding it hard to gain a significant amount of muscle anywhere in my upper body. I’m already a black belt in taekwondo, but I’ve currently switched my focus to learning kickboxing + boxing. When I was still doing taekwondo I was always at a disadvantage compared to other people who would have been in my weight class due to my short reach. I fear this issue may resurface once I start competing in either kickboxing or boxing. Is there any other martial art that someone could recommend? I fear I’m too weak to be a grappler but also too short to be a striker
Do you have short/long arms or legs for your height? Need to know that before can come to a conclusion. You said you dealt with reach issues in Taekwondo. If your legs are shorter but arms are still a decent length I’d recommend boxing or a style like Mike Zambidis in Kickboxing. Also just give grappling a shot. Strong legs will help you there and you’ll never know unless you try.
Don’t let that stop you, just train as hard as possible. I can’t really give you any recommendations it’s really up to you. But if you’re short and thin maybe a striker. But as you grow and workout you will find out what you are.
Bulk and do plyometrics, sprints and Olympic lifting and/ or powerlifting for five fast reps at 90 percent of your one rep max Then cut on the same program But I’m 14 what do I know😂 this is what I’m doing but I haven’t figured out if it’s work yet, because I’m not done
Worry about your technique and and your footwork instead of power, since your so tall you can easily win by out scoring your opponents, no need to get the knockout
You got most of it right. First bulk and gain strength with squats, floor press and maybe deadlifts. Then do plyometrics focused on vertical jump (it's correlated to power) and upper body plyos. Good luck.

Boxing is for bozo’s, none of the most legendary fighters are boxers, a 5’7 150 pound BJJ purple belt can defeat any boxer in a fight, death match, cage, street fight doesn’t matter, boxing is the most overrated martial art to ever exist, and quite frankly can boxing truly be considered a martial art? Other striking arts are dramatically superior, especially when you factor in grappling, karate & muay thai still have grappling in there, TKD guys have far better movement to not get touched, meanwhile boxers don’t, boxing sucks, I hate boxers because they as a majority proclaim their martial art is superior, when time and time again faced against other martial arts they get embarrassed easily, Not to mention boxing gyms are toxic as the majority, full of ego, guys giving you CTE on purpose, coaches treating you like trash, who in their right minds would want to train boxing? I mean seriously, inferior gym culture, inferior technique, inferior for self defense, etc etc
Remember when Ali fought that japanese kick boxer? Yeah he was a beast, he’s not talked about enough though. I probably should have added that in but he’s someone that stands out in the category for nimble fighter. Because he has power. Kinda like Aljo for the wrestler/boxer with power. (He for sure doesn’t have power)
Got that Kickboxer builds
Wish better boxing or kick boxing
Just a quick point about adding muscle and grappling gas tank- so much of efficiency is skill based. Fat black belts and jacked purple belts can do for 30 min rounds bc they aren’t constantly tense
Yeah one must always be efficient and learn how to conserve their stamina
I liked the concept, but this video was not structured well and is a little too bro sciencey. Stopped watching around 7:30.
1:34 everyone that is jacked is strong. If your definition of power is punching power then there’s other things that go into it but it is physically impossible to be muscular and weak.
In boxing long limbs with a short torso. Good for all ranges. They have more than enough defense for their bodies
I think having the most aesthetic physique is the best for every type of combat.

That sounds self explanatory, but I've seen a lot of people fail to consider this
This is 100% true
Khabib pretty much grew up doing Sambo, so it makes sense that he's a specialist in the style.
I'm 6'1 and 102kg, and i'm a judoka who played rugby for 8 years, so i'm strong but also fast, powerful but explosive also, i lack a bit of cardio but i can still continue to give a good fight
It’s not entirely about size it’s how you utilize it
I'm a striker, i'm 6'0 145lbs in a country where the average height is 5'7, so most of the opponents in my weight class are usually between 5'5-5'8.

Heavy focus on boxing and leg kicks
From a Muay Thai perspective..
Be a Muay Khao, with heavy focus on knees, or an elbow hunter. Think of Nabil Anane. Since you're taller, you can also hit opponents easier with longer head kicks, just like Peter Aerts for example.
It's kinda hard to not say grappling for everyone
I guess boxing.
5’4 130lbs lean muscle 😭
What’s a good fighting style for me because I usually switch based on my opponents style.
For kickers I’ll have a leaned back karate stance to dodge those head kicks then spring forward
For pinchers I can go toe to toe with them and have a boxer type stance
And grapplers I just try to keep my distance

Amazing video bro

With rare fighters like David tua he always had one hit quitter knockout even at his weight and body type he had beyond what seems not possible for humans to do because most aren’t knocking people out in each fights they have in one hit
I'd say I'm a nimble lean and nimble guy but I'm actually aiming at an hybrid build

I used to love Fallout New Vegas, i recently started MMA and I just realized this is like an rpg i can be anyone i want including my build :3
I'm 5'11 long ass arms long ass legs mid body😂 when I was younger I was good at grappling and submissions, never got the chance to get into combat sport due to being to poor and being around drug addicts
I'de Like the Muscular build. It's very Useful.
I’m 5’10 165 about 12% body fat. A lot of fast twitch muscle with long arms and legs
The heavy fighter compared to the muscular fighter is less stiff and in my opinion better cardio. Tyson Fury , Andy Ruiz, heavyweight jones, tuivasa(in terms of not being stiff),
I'm 1.77 cm and 80 kgs of weight. Where does that put me?
Love the hybrid by the way
I’m 5,8 but around my girl I’m 6,4

Height insoles
better start being a body builder
For the hybrid I’m boxing it would be Crawford and Joe Louis
Mentioning tom aspinall and in the next breath say that slowness is a con is crazy💀
I wouldn’t say he’s super slow, but he’s still a heavy weight. So he definitely doesn’t have hands like say Cody garbant.
That Haney stray shot tho 😂
Body type doesn't really matter in combat sports. It's all about mind, grind... and cardio.
I'm 5'9 and 201 lbs, muscular.
You’re probably an issue outside a ring, but in a combat sport you’d end up fighting guys with more physical attributes because they’re going to taller and longer for the most part at your weight
@@mogulme6190 that's why weight cutting is a thing.😂.If they cut down to 170, then they might do a bit better.

In wushu many are very slim and lean because of the techniques of that martial art requires nimbleness and flexibility and aerial coordination but then again it’s people out there built like running backs doing wushu
Examples were a bit all over the place
you forgot my build. no cardio no strength
6:40 i dont think thats proper clip u used lol
How did butterbean not show up in this montage
in muay thai , the larger fighters do not get the chance, why ? same reason why models have certain frame they need to be put in.
the art , the speed and motions are connected with the frame.
to look good, to play good, to express the art, is connected to a certain size. Everything above 170lb is not useful for muay thai..
Mma made a mistake of introducing the hw to the sport.
it is just too slow. it does not add to the beauty of it.
Having long arms like Max Hoiliway has Trex arms.
I do Muay Thai . I’m 5’6 200, but my wingspans 6’1 lol I’m stuck in between hanging a long range game and doing damage up close
Combat sports build is just genetics. Builds built from training to fight not lifting weights mostly.
Can you make a video off average physique like a skinny dude would be a lean feather or lightweight or maybe a skinny fat dude who be either a middle or heavy weight.
God bless bro.
I can think of an idea.
God bless brother
thanks
I mean look at Nate Diaz skinny long limbed and a BJJ phenom.
Currently, a potential lean and nimble fighter.
What’s an effective way of increasing strength without putting on too much size?
@@-Lalothepalo Overcoming isometrics and regular strength training and plyometrics
you won’t put on too much size with lifting if you’re both doing it with combat sports, just eat the way you eat right now and you’ll stay your current weight.
Max 5-6 reps and do them explosively and fast cause you wont trigger muscle hypertrophy as much
I say depending on what you’re doing maybe don’t do weights to become too stiff.

I am 5’2 1/2 female currently weighing around 55kg (121 lbs). I have pretty big and bulked up legs but a slim upper body.
BJJ? or just train MMA
What’s your reach (arm)
As long as they were going with the fixes and bets whatever build will be good
I,m a short thin asian any recommendations for me?😢
Don’t let that stop you, just train as hard as possible. I can’t really give you any recommendations it’s really up to you. But if you’re short and thin maybe a striker. But as you grow and workout you will find out what you are.
This is why ...

6'4 boxer 170lb but I'm bigger than almost everyone in my gym public class at the same time I'm the 2nd fastest but I do somewhat lack in power
I want to get even more lean but at the same time I want to have some effective punches
Bulk and do plyometrics, sprints and Olympic lifting and/ or powerlifting for five fast reps at 90 percent of your one rep max
Then cut on the same program
But I’m 14 what do I know😂 this is what I’m doing but I haven’t figured out if it’s work yet, because I’m not done
Good luck.
Calves create stability
No such thing, im a boxer , iv done bjj so on, but rn just focusing on what pure boxing, There's no physique in boxing it's completely diverse your style may centre around your reach and advantages but there's no right or wrong build.
They nerfed the kickboxer and he still destroyed Ali’s legs, destroyed his legs so bad they both got blood clots and he nearly had his legs amputated off, I guess boxing fans/fighters ignore that side of history, a nerfed Japanese kick boxing almost took Muhammad Ali’s legs off(literally) 😂 and then in the 21st central you have boxers/boxing fans running around saying how good boxing is for self defense, just shut up before I ankle pick you
