what i do in sparring is that i change my style to fit my partner and the distance i am in so my partner doesn't know what i will do but the problem is i don't have a style to train with
I think you should just focus on basics honestly, work on your basics, see which form of attack you enjoy using the best or seems to do the most damage or be the most effective for you and work around those attacks to form your style. Personally I feel like my own style is kind of an all rounder boxing style at the moment with heavy emphasis on my jab to set up punches and it might not be for everyone but it’s my own style. So figure out what basic attacks suit you and find out what combos or what can you do to make them work well.
Martial arts are expressing yourself in combat. You can immitate someone's moves but you will never be them and that is ok, because they will never be you. Find a move you like, adjust it for your own body, mind and soul. You are a vessel that helps expressing your own way of combat. I for example like to do unexpected moves like close range head kicks. I am 6ft lanky guy that likes kicking punching and choking with some throws/takedowns. Like to use both straight forward and complicated moves to use as surprises. Love to fake moves. Please remember that you are you. No one can replace and only you can express perfectly. My three favorite fighters are probably Bruce Lee, Zabit Magomedsharipov and Mighty mouse
Brother, dont cut yourself short by satinf a championship lvl kickboxer shouldnt watch this vid/your channel. What you do can be a reminder to those people as well. Keep being great!
I think a lot of people try to copy other fighters style before learning the basics. You have beginners trying to find their style before even learning how to fight from different ranges.
I modeled my style off of Floyd Mayweather. People criticized me for using the Philly Shell and staying narrow even though I was whooping every single one of them. I then switched to the amateurs and immediately got praised for how effective my style was. I use the Philly Shell a lot but I fight off my jab a lot. I’d say my jab is my best punch. Vary that jab like Floyd, with no telling. Up jab, downward jab, jab in between the guard, jab from the waist, etc. I have never been touched or hurt because of my style. Do what you know.
go into the abyss and find yourself, and when you come out realize that the people talking about you are either in your head, and or they do not see the struggle you put in
Martial arts is nothing but a way to express yourself, just like in art you got different art form and people will be inclined to different ones. The thing with styles it picks you not the other way around.
Take what you know and learned and combine it all. It dosent matter if its not "your" style, take long range from ali, take grabbing from george foreman, take the rolls and shift from mike tyson. Take the time to learn from your mistakes and get better at it.
best piece of advice you can ever give to any one in general. there is a lot of discourse about which system and which style is most efficient because look at their accolades. and their time in ring. yes this is true but champions still had to put in work to chip away at the imperfections what may work for them may not work for you. 😊
I trained so much thing during my life (Kung fu, capoiera, boxing, aikido, K1) now I do muay thai and add more boxing practice because im in generali a kicker with fluid foot work and *what coach said me with unconventional lead leg. i going to boxing more to have the same ability that my legs is
I work mainly on footwork, inside fighting, and angles. I have always been inspired by guys like Orlando Canizales, Manny Pacquiao, and old Henry armstrong cilps of him fighting because he combined inside clinching with boxing, and also had a bobbing and weaving style similar to what joe fraizer had.
thanks, i needed to hear this, i've constantly had struggle trying to find my "style" i do boxing, i'm 5'5 - 5'6, 125 - 127 lbs, my style of boxing is just like canelo's, since he's my inspiration, high guard, infighter, defensively active, etc etc. yeah canelo's big, and i aint, yeah im pretty thin and i look silly when i shell up or guard cuz i cant cover every one of my vitals like bulky fighters can so what if im more fit for a more "outboxing" style because im thinner it doesn't matter to me anymore, because i've realized that this is the style i made, this is the style for me, this is the style im comfortable with, that im fluid with, that i LOVE. this is the style that feels most natural to me, and, give it time, give me time and i'll master all that i need to, and i'll keep evolving this style until it's formidable. so to anyone reading this, whoever your inspiration is, whatever your style is, it doesn't matter, as long as it's what works for you, it's what's "natural" to you, then. keep at it. keep it playful, fighting is hard yeah, but, there's fun in it, no one has fun when their everyday is, tense, or.. forced. just have fun, go with the flow.
Absolute w of a comment, you are right. I believe we can take things from other peoples styles. Like if someone wants to get really good at shoulder rolling like Floyd, they can.But that should just be an add on to our arsenal. We should do what truly feels comfortable and comes natural. Thanks for commenting bro 🙏
Coaches always say to "stick to the basics" but then tell you to find your style. Smh. Some people love making angles, even if it means using 2 stances. Some people like to fight with their hands down. Some people like to throw odd leg kicks, and never throw the normal thai style kicks. Some people love passing guard and hunting for submissions. Other people love sitting in guard and doing ground and pound. There is no correct answer. Im sick of coaches saying that there is. When trained, unpredictability, rarely seen strategies, and not using "the basics" are some of the greatest weapons a fighter can have
Im starting to figure this out as I am training mauy thai. I this year I first started with a long guard with my hands forward like a mummy looking to grab and clinch. Because of that I I left my face and body open to get pummeled. After that I later switched to a high turtle guard like boxer "winky" and mauy thai "haggerty". I trained that straight for 2 months but with that style, I was basically a slow moving brick wall bc I would have my guard up 24/7. Now I am adapting it with my taekwondo background with kicks and movement and im trying to move with the high guard only using it when I am close distance. Kinda like dashing around in smashbros and pulling up the dome shield every few seconds to block lucky hits. And so far I am really liking the build I am paving for myself. Right now my best traits are a strong high guard and fast kicks. My goal is to be a speed demon kinda like mike tyson but in muay Thai and my power shots will be my kicks. So far the people that counter me are fighters that can throw really good knees and teeps (push kicks)
I Use inspirations from Tawanchai, Superlek and Elias Mahmoudi but I practice the basics Such as Leg kick, body Kick, Head kick, Torando kilc, Question Mark kick, Back kick, Cut Elbow, Tomahawk Elbow, spear Elbow, basic Thai clinching techniques, leg checks also jab Cross, Right hook, Uppercut, etc.
People says southpaw is for left handed ,but im more comfortable with southpaw stance as a right handed, and i can use my both hand my right hand is much stronger and hit harder but my left hand is more faster
generally in sparring I only practice my moves, for example, I notice that my switch kick to the body is lacking so that day I really focus on it while sparring sorta make it like my jab until partner changes his stance or style bcz of that.. O ther day try work on switch guard and only right hooks while stance switch, after that i figure out what I can do best and I improved really really quick. Ur sorta obsessed with ur moves until your style comes together
Adesanya is just a counter puncher, that's all there is to it. George Foreman is really tall and long, but he relies on his power rather than relying on distance.
Hey, I always say I do mma because I study the basics that you would think of. So Muay Thai and kickboxing, my gym has a bit more of a Dutch emphasis on kickboxing. But I do have a Muay Thai coach puts us through hell. And I do BJJ, we do a lot of wrestling since my head BJJ coach was a d1 wrestler. Then I do mma which I coach I won’t name because that kinda gives away where I live 😂. But he was a bellator champion and a ufc fighter.
@@AnethamMMA So you do Muay thai, kickboxing, Brazilian jujitsu. Do you go to 2 separate gyms for kickboxing and jujitsu, or do you go to an mma gym where you learn striking and grappling in the same class? @@AnethamMMAa lot of striking coaches don’t know how to teach. Many martial arts gyms waste time in class by having coaches manage everything.

True i heard somewhere they said you dont really choose a style but just master the basic and the unique style will eventually choose you

When im boxing i copy Aoki from Hajime no Ippo and idk why but it feels right and it actually works 😭
Frog man😂😂😂
It's one of the goated boxing animes fr bro
The frop punch is real look up koichi wajimas frog punch, also yeah trickster fighters are a legit thing
An unorthodox approach can rattle the brains of people who fight by the book.
@UncleJacq true , look at DDP for example...his caveman style really threw his opponents off
