We have many versions of pozole in Mexico depending on the region, and believe me, none of them have anything to do with this abomination. A long time ago, I decided not to take it personally when people from other countries destroy traditional Mexican recipes, because, let's be honest, we do make our own weird interpretations of things like sushi or pizza. However, what really made me laugh to cry was the authority with which this lady destroys one of the oldest and most beloved recipes of a country she probably doesn't even know. No Rachael, pozole, regardless of what version we're talking about, does not include olive oil, beer, or beans, or tomato puree. Also, fritos, sour cream, fresh cilantro, and jalapeño are not in the list of toppings of real pozole.

This is nauseating. As a Mexican person I consider this incredibly insulting, and horrifying. The fact that a person that hails herself as a food connoisseur dared to believe this monstrosity edible, and give it the term "Mexican food" is truly, awfully revolting.
The only thing in common in this pozole and the REAL Mexican dish is the salt because she uses canned hominy and a real pozole doesn’t call for shortcuts 🤦🏻♀️
I think that is unfair. Almost no one has the time and resources to boil kernels in lye (or even find lye), to make hominy from scratch. Hominy is still hominy. If we go by this logic, you can't use pork from any store, either, you have to raise your own pig and butcher it yourself to get the pork. You have to grow your own chilis, your own spices, collect the water right from a natural spring or rain water without any filtering or tap. The fire to cook it has to be over wood from a tree you planted and grew to maturity and you personally cut down, and start the fire, itself, with sticks or flint and steel, cooked inside a pot you forged yourself or carved from natural stone with tools you also made by hand from scratch. Real ingredients you could get very easily, like the tomatoes, yes, she should at least use fresh instead of canned (even though she shouldn't be using them at all.) Even the salt that you mentioned, I am betting, you don't personally use by digging in a salt mine or drying tons of sea water out until just the salt is left. Some shortcuts are acceptable, they have to be, or else no one is going to be making any TRULY traditional dishes due to lack of resources or ingredients. Like most cultural dishes, including Mexican, the basis for the traditional dishes were made out of ingredients native to the area they are in, but not all areas have those same ingredients, so imported versions are absolutely necessary to make it at all when it cannot be accessed without great effort. Like the aforementioned tomatoes, those are very common to get from anywhere, so there's no excuse.
In NO WAY IS THIS REAL!!! I'm a Mexican and I know that this is NOT how you make Pozole. Pozole is simple and does not require monstrous amounts of canned foods to make. Hell, no canned food should be in the pozole (expect the hominy). I showed this to my mom and she was shocked on how absurd the pozole was made (if you even call it pozole). There's no pork in it and for the love of God, no Mexican in the world uses BEANS in the pozole!!!

The only thing in common in this pozole and the REAL Mexican dish is the salt because she uses canned hominy and a real pozole doesn’t call for shortcuts 🤦🏻♀️
I think that is unfair. Almost no one has the time and resources to boil kernels in lye (or even find lye), to make hominy from scratch. Hominy is still hominy. If we go by this logic, you can't use pork from any store, either, you have to raise your own pig and butcher it yourself to get the pork. You have to grow your own chilis, your own spices, collect the water right from a natural spring or rain water without any filtering or tap. The fire to cook it has to be over wood from a tree you planted and grew to maturity and you personally cut down, and start the fire, itself, with sticks or flint and steel, cooked inside a pot you forged yourself or carved from natural stone with tools you also made by hand from scratch. Real ingredients you could get very easily, like the tomatoes, yes, she should at least use fresh instead of canned (even though she shouldn't be using them at all.) Even the salt that you mentioned, I am betting, you don't personally use by digging in a salt mine or drying tons of sea water out until just the salt is left.
Some shortcuts are acceptable, they have to be, or else no one is going to be making any TRULY traditional dishes due to lack of resources or ingredients. Like most cultural dishes, including Mexican, the basis for the traditional dishes were made out of ingredients native to the area they are in, but not all areas have those same ingredients, so imported versions are absolutely necessary to make it at all when it cannot be accessed without great effort. Like the aforementioned tomatoes, those are very common to get from anywhere, so there's no excuse.

In NO WAY IS THIS REAL!!! I'm a Mexican and I know that this is NOT how you make Pozole. Pozole is simple and does not require monstrous amounts of canned foods to make. Hell, no canned food should be in the pozole (expect the hominy). I showed this to my mom and she was shocked on how absurd the pozole was made (if you even call it pozole). There's no pork in it and for the love of God, no Mexican in the world uses BEANS in the pozole!!!
