Notice how some optional scenes (the Gold Saucer date, Aerith as Princess Rosa, the hug in Loveless, the Chapter 14 resolution, etc.) make a hard comeback as a parallel in canon and non-optional scenes (i.e. The Sleeping Forest sequence ("Focus on you Cloud, the real you"), Cloud and Aerith vs Sephiroth, the hug in the dream date, Cloud holding Aerith's hand to his face after her death). This edit is so genius in the way it points out all of that, but I would like to highlight how Aerith is the only character who has this many references to her High Affection scenes, while other characters have none or so at all. Its like the game devs need you to experience those scenes no matter which route you take
The devs put their heart and soul into literally everything involving Aerith in this game. Story-wise, it's not surprising that they wanted to assure players would see as much of her as possible in their first run

you missed one, in JP when cloud says he will be there for her in costa del sol, she replies "so reliable", that is the same response she gives when he ccatch her falling on rooftops, that is why cloud smirks. she was basically aknowledging he will be there to save her.

I think the gold saucer date and the hand holding in chapter 14 is also kinda connected cause in the gold saucer date cloud seemed to hesitate to lock fingers and hold hands but in chapter 14 he didn’t which kinda feels like it’s because he already did that with her and since he did it before he doesn’t have to be nervous about it again
yess, exactly! that scene makes a lot more sense if you get her gs date. cloud was so nervous when he took her hand on their date and shyly looked at her as if he was asking "is this okay?" but it was so natural to him here🥺

It's kind of fun that Aerith says Cloud and Zack are so similar in what they do or how they move. I mean, isn't it the same with YOU two? 🤣 Amy just proved it! 😄 No words in the world are enough to describe how emotionally deep their connection is. 💖 But sometimes you don't even need words, right?
Seeing this making me contemplate the journey so far. Part 3 is on its way and i dont think im ready for it to end . I think ill just listen to Hollow Skies afterwards.
I dont believe thats Aerith from the water burial onwards. Every line she says is a repeat of lines from earlier in the game(s). Almost like Jenova is mimicking her. Why else go hard on how Jenova takes on the form of those who have died... those you love... those you fear... the whole temple of ancients segment.. if they dont incorporate it?
@@nathanking5137i do think it’s possible that jenova will take aerith’s form at some point in part 3 and use her to manipulate cloud but in the specific moment where her theme song plays in the background after she sadly says goodbye to cloud and the group? no, this would not be the place for it. the scene is meant to be an emotional send off. i think people are reading too much into her repeating some lines but they’re just bittersweet callbacks imo
Really great video, I think a lot of these parallels are actually false. As in they are created by Jenova who has access to Clouds memories. Aerith is saying things that Cloud wants her to say, NOT what she would actually say. The prime example being "Leave Sephiroth to me" and the Parralel at the end of the game Cloud saying "He'll take care of Sephiroth". I am now mega convinced after watching this that we are seeing Jenova in Aeriths flesh at the end of the game. Its subtle but its definitely there.
@straights That could very well be true. They did say that Jenova did this to the Cetra in order to destroy them. "A deceiver that stole the faces of the dead. Of mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers lost. With their voices did it sow the seeds of discord among our people, among the children of man". And we see that she and Sephiroth already did this to Rufus in order to restart the war with Wutai. It would be a really disturbing and cruel twist that would fit right in with the story. I do have a hard time fully buying the theory because of 2 things. The first being, i don't think it's that out of character for Aerith to want Cloud to keep going. The "leave Sephiroth to me" was meant for the Forgotten Capital so she can pray for the ultimate solution while Cloud can recover from his breakdown from earlier, not to abandon the mission altogether. Especially since that failed because she died. Obviously the gang needs to keep going after that. Cloud says "i will stop Sephiroth. Trust me" which doesn't really go against anything Aerith wants. Hell, she was the one to stress how important that is at the end of Remake. "Sephiroth has to be stopped, he HAS to be. And that is why i'm asking you to help me. Because i know that together we can do this". And secondly, the fact that she very wistfully says "goodbye" at the end. Max Dood's take on the Jenaerith theory is that she only acts like Aerith if Cloud is paying attention to her. And if he doesn't she's either not there at all or a weird empty husk. But that's not true. If this is really Jenova why would she, after Cloud is already in the air hundreds of feet away from her, stare after them and genuinely say "goodbye". That makes 0 sense to me. There are definitely valid points to that theory but ultimately i have a hard time buying it. Would i love it? Absolutely! But based on the evidence, i don't really think that's what they're going for.
If Aerith in the end was Jenova then she wouldn't want to be separated from Cloud so that she could mess with his head and cause chaos in the group even more. Instead she stays behind and tearfully says goodbye to him and her friends. You're telling us that the dev's intention for this heartfelt farewell scene was for the players to get tricked by Jenova the whole time? Be for real now. Sure, Jenova could use Aerith's form in the next game, but the Aerith saying goodbye to everyone at the end of Rebirth is definitely not Jenova, because it would completely remove the emotional meaning of the final scene.
