I'm not a fan of this mold, but this version makes the other ones so bland in comparison. The Hasbro Leader for the TLK line looked so dusty, and the chrome was removed! I like how this turned out, and in some ways, you can see this as a way to wash away the bad taste that El Cid had in your mouth.

One detail you missed is that Calibur Prime is a retooling of Takara's own Armor Knight Optimus Prime. Armor Knight Optimus Prime was the first AOE Leader Prime mold to get the movie accurate retooling on his chest, legs, head, arms, etc. It wasn't until The Last Knight that Calibur Prime came out, with FINALLY the removable back wheels.
Also, fun fact: the Calibur's Shield is based on DOTM Prime's shield.

We can confirm, this is the best leader AoE/TLK leader optimus figure ever, it may be expensive, but it's worth it..

Now Alien Attack's take on AOE Optimus Prime is called El Cid, both the truck and robot mode look great, but despite the fact the robot mode cleans up well, the transformation is really complicated because there are some steps that include pushing things past others which can be annoying and ruin the figure. Unique Toys's take on AOE/TLK Optimus Prime is called Challenger, once again, the truck and robot modes look great, but the transformation on that figure is more smooth and fluid and more easier to handle while also cleaning up perfectly in the robot mode. Also ToyWorld's take on AOE/TLK Optimus Prime is called Knight Orion, where once again the robot and truck modes look great, but just like Alien Attack's El Cid, the transformation is really complicated. So if you want an AOE/TLK Optimus Prime that you want to put on the shelf for display, go with either Alien Attack's El Cid or ToyWorld's Knight Orion, or if you want one to mess with without trouble, go with Unique Toys's Challenger.
I'd say you should watch my review of Alien Attack's El Cid, but I'll give you the short version;
It's a piece of hot garbage that I regret ever purchasing.

I was REALLY tempted to get this guy.........until I saw some reviews on Amazon. Apparently, most people have had issues with the plastic on this guy being very brittle. Ultimately, I went with Armor Knight Optimus. Have you ever had this kind of trouble with your Prime?
Casey Henderson That has not been my experience. In my opinion, if you're only going to get one AOE/TLK Prime figure, this one should be it.

I've gotta say, I'm really tempted to pick this one up. The awesome paint job, great accessories, and shield that hides itself well look very much to be worth the price. My only concern here would be the shield's heaviness. Also, wasn't there actually an appearance of this mold (meaning, the one with the shield that forms part of the cab) in the U.S.? I only saw it once and it was inferior to this one of course, but I think it actually did show up in a few stores at some point.

Damnn gotta say the torso is nice, BTW did you know that if you got the original AOE Leader Optimus, and take off all the kibble and car shell his shell can form a truck and he looks skinnier

Hey Bert love the vids! I know Im chiming in here a little late but I recently picked this guy up and noticed some minor paint flaws on the shield. Is this something to be expected from figure to figure or should I return it because it should be flawless? Anyone who could answer this for me I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I'm actually asking in your experience over the years, what % of figures you have purchased have had some type of minor flaw in the paint, light paint scratch, or joints, or plastic burrs etc.? Thanks again!
Abel Abner It really depends.... case by case. Most of the time there will be some scratch or paint app flaw somewhere on just about any figure you buy. I weigh it on whether it's something I can live with or fix myself. The first Animated Leader Ultra Magnus I bought had a scratch across his chest so bad I definitely took him back.

Yes, It absolutely does!!! That's Just Prime 4 Life!!! I think in my case I will keep him as it is a small little scratch/line but under the paint. Keep em coming and I'll keep watching.

The thumbs on mine are really loose. So if I have him hold the weapons, he'll drop them off as I move the hands around. And the shield is really loose too when I mount on the back of Prime.
Haze Shiro Mine are actually a bit too tight, I have to really wedge the weapons in. Might be a copy by copy issue. Have you tried tightening the joint? I use clear nail polish to tighten loose joints, has worked well for me over the years.

Yes, I opened up the hands and put some glue in. It worked for me. I should try nail polish next time if I ever get any loose joints again. Thanks for the advise.
Hey bert montoya i have a question is the figure worth it for its price? Becuz mine is on 65$ is that worth it and do you have major issues at the figure?
This is my personal favorite version of this figure and favorite representation of TLK Prime. I don't know what he's going for now though so I'll leave the worth up to you to decide.

That is definitely a better Optimus Prime then what we got here in the states but I think I'm going to get rid of my older movie stuff and continue with this studio series because my goodness is kicking ass you should take a look at the blackout

theWifi Dude I disagree. While that is a BEAUTIFUL figure in both modes, it is sadly littered with QC and design problems that make it one of the worst and most frustrating figures I've even had to deal with. Please see my review of it to see in more detail.
