My favourite of many different gigs; JLP at the Rainbow in North London, May 1979. Never bettered for me and the joy which came from the stage was mesmerising. Ralphe Armstrong on fretless bass was outstanding. 45 years ago and the album of the LA leg of the tour so I can re live as close a version of the concert as possible. Thank you Jean Luc for the memories.
Great to hear JLP! Been following him since the 70s and have seen him in concert many times. Terrific to see his daughter with him. And wow terrific bassist and drummer!
I dream to see him some day. I hope I will have the chance before it is too late. He is one of the greatest figures I look up to musically; so much love in every composition. So happy him and his daughter have this beautiful connection, they look so happy!
The mastery virtuoso jazz fusion of Jean Luc Ponty resonates for decades and his beautiful daughter performing with him a heartwarming stage presence…fantastic drum solo!!!
Bruuuaal... la música de JLP sigue siendo fresca y hermosa... y cada agrupación que ha tenido a travez de los años aporta matices e interpretaciones brillantes... Gracias maestro!
A Godzilla Octomonster Solo on the drums. Yes this rhythm section is astounding. Pure heart accompanying the master on 🔑 s. Fantastic sound and great to see family on stage together.
I think Jean is relaxing and doing great, so I give him applause and wish him well. I have seen him three times. Twice in Detroit and once in Alexandria, VA. The Detroit shows were spectacular.
at 8:42 it looks like Mr. Ponty starts playing the head again and quickly realizes that they are still improvising and does an amazing job of continuing with the solos. He is amazing
The Solo Violin is such a beautiful instrument That is very underused as the main instrument and to be played with such music is gratifying..The violin can be such a solum and sad instrument when called for.. There are not many instruments that can portray such feelings as the Versatile Violin 🙏
That GUY is one of the baddest players to ever pick up a bass guitar. Saw him in Florida days after watching Marcus Miller....and was blown away. Nuf said
i get the impression that an older JLP is not as agile now as he once was, and the drums must play louder in order to overshadow him and try to create some balance from the whole.
Yes, I was watching Simon Phillips' Little Big Beat just before this and you can tell how everybody is literally on fire in that. This lacks the punch.
@@arijitchief Why do you compare ? I listened to these sessions, yes they are absolutely crazy, and I love Simon, but here you have a fantastic violin, I first heard him on Mahavishnu's Apocalypse in 74 and his playing still moves me. I've seen Ponty with Chick Corea and Return to Forever in Marciac, great moment.
@@arijitchiefI've seen Jlp with Damian Schmitt . One of the best drummers I've ever seen and JLP has always had great drummers Rayford Griffin and Steve Smith and Thierry can't remember last name . The best Bass players Ralphe Armstrong and Baron Browne .

So good to hear this from the 70s. Still the champion. ❤

I had that dream too. Unfortunately he no longer performs
@@ruthwegner1984 He does occasionally, but not full tours like he used to.

Beyond Heartwarming to see Mr. Ponty and his Wonderful daughter and Unbelievable on the Drums!!! Great personality and expertise!

Detroit shows sure were, I'm here, I've since him 5 times starting at 18 yrs. old.
Pointy is incredible, a great composer as well!
I’ve seen him 8 times, and with The Mahavishnu Orchestra which was beyond words incredible..🌹
Jean Luc Ponty el mejor en su música. Me encanta su musica. Bendiciones por tan bellas melodías desde El Salvador Centro América.

No. He signals to band to take it from top / intro. It’s on the fly conducting for live performances.
Beautiful. Amazing. Great players. Jean Luc is such a legend.
Por 4 décadas lo he admirado muchísimo.
Killer Rhythm Section. One of the best Ponty had...and that is saying something,.

2019? He seems to play like he did in the eighties! And his band is on fire (daughter on board!).

Wow! Wonderful interpretation of Enigmatic Ocean Part 1!! Clara Ponty on keys!
Just caught on to the fact that he is echoing Holdsworths original solo from the studio recording. Brilliant

I had seen JLP 3 times in concert and always He and his band is awsome.
Simplicity at its absolute BEST! ..........Only 4 Musicians yet Astoundingly and Wonderfully Complicated songwriting looking Effortless!

Where does he find these virtuosic, yet soulful bassists?
Le bassiste est là pour nous
Zappa taught him well! Nice homage to Movin To Montana. where are the piano solos, Jean?
Cart before the horse .JLP is second to no one .
I am not familiar with the drum master can someone please give me his name.
Dobrý den, Jazzport Byl bych vám vděčný, kdybyste mohli nahrát playlist koncertu Jeana Luca Pontyho.
Myslíte dať do popisu k videu?

J’adore le morceau c’es vers une 15aine de mn en plus le temps filmer pendant un solo c’est oser
I think my father did better home movies are you sure hes not filming this?
With all due respect, Jean luc ponty should have the spotlight on him! The keyboardist should be in the dark. She was distracting to the maestro!!!
It’s his daughter
@@barbcoleman5145 so what!

I miss the power. JLP is brilliant but for example there is no a good keyboard solo, etc.
Yes, I was watching Simon Phillips' Little Big Beat just before this and you can tell how everybody is literally on fire in that. This lacks the punch.
Damian Schmitt definetely HAS power and punch. Also the bassplayer. JLP is now 78 years old, I can understand, that he is calmer than before.
