@@theduckgoesmoo One thing you should know, One Piece is the 2nd most sold comic series *of all time* right behind Superman. One Piece recently surpassed Batman in most sold comic series *of all time* with 490 million copies sold (Batman was at 480 million copies). So right now the list is like:
1) Superman
2) One Piece
3) Batman
4) Spiderman
Mind you, Superman and Batman had multiple authors over the entire duration of their publications, but One Piece only has Oda and yet managed to overtake Batman in overall sales.

It is the most sold, considering for One Piece only volume sales are counted and for DC and Marvel stuff the sales are way less than what is sold due to not being consistently counted.

I am actually curious how a rematch would go. Since eboth have gotten a multitude of buffs and changes. Erza has gotten even more impressive feats. And while zero hasn't gotten as many newer ones as she. The ones he as are equally impressive. If not more so.

15:57 they actually did. They said that Zoro cutting through the man-mountain would be equivalent to the 11 Megaton Castle Romeo bomb. They also stated that Erza tanking the island blowing up was equivalent to 2 kilotons. Both of these feats were presented with the same wording in the pre-fight analysis, no shenanigans.

Funny story about this fight: 2 weeks after it released Erza got a new feat that made it wrong, then like 2 weeks after that, Zoro got a new feat that made it right again lol.

to play devil's advocate, imagine trying to describe one piece to someone like duck who knows nothing about it. it's not that surprising when we talk about people wielding weather control rods, being a cyborg that if I remember correctly relied on cola as a fuel source, having transforming reindeer, or even having the power to just make a ton of hands appear wherever, or things like somehow becoming like a pro boxer all due to a prop afro.

After watching this death battle I do agree with the final results however one thing that was definitely downplayed was the speed for both characters. Erza has been shown fighting enemies that can either blast lightning bolts or move at lightning speeds themselves. And Zoro has casually reacted to lightspeed attacks on a number of occasions. There are feats for both characters that better represent how fast and strong they are in the anime/manga.

Here's the main story behind One Piece, as we're introduced to it:
The King of the Pirates, Gold Roger, was on the Gallows for his public execution when he was asked by one of the people there about his vast and incomparable treasure. After all, he was the King of all pirates, and he had everything the world could offer, including wealth, fame and power.
In the face of death, he laughed and declared to the world: "You want my treasure!? You can have it! I left it all in one place. Now you just have to find it."
20 years later, a young pirate by the name of Monkey D Luffy sets off to find this treasure and become King of the Pirates.
The weird stuff is because of the Devil Fruits
Paramecia makes your body like an object: Rubber, Steel, Rocks, Cotton, Iron
Zoan modifies your body to be part animal: Giraffe, Lion, Deer, Bear
Logia allows users to literally become elements: Wind, Smoke, Fire, Light, Magma, Ice
This is why I dont eat fruit

So as someone who's watched over 700 episodes of one piece, and all of fairy tail I'd say this is accurate. VERY MINOR SPOILERS towards the ladder half of fairy tail, erza was able to destroy a meteor. In one piece over 100 episodes in zoro cuts a meteor in half and since then he's gotten much stronger that it makes him cutting a meteor in half seem inconsequential by comparison
he also followed up slicing the mountain in half by then slicing that half in half, then slicing THAT half in half until he narrowed it down enough to find the man hiding in it
@Yeah he's gotten so much stronger that he did from when he cut the meteor tho. The one he cut was fairly early in the series compared to where they are now and that's not including the 2 year training timeskip with the world's greatest swordsman who practically turned a meteor to dust after zoro cut it in half 🤣

@@zackm681 very early on. Can't remember if it was right after alabasta or sky island but he cuts it trying to destroy it but only managed to slice it In half. People were freaking out thinking everyone would be crushed but then something ends up destroying it completely. He looks and sees mihawk in the distance and realizes that mihawk destroyed it. Since then tho after many episodes and training with mihawk for 2 years he's gotten tons stronger since then

I will recommend that unless you think you'll start to react to One Piece, on this, or another channel within the next 10 years, (by 7/24/31) just watch it solo or with a friend off-camera.

Make sure (if you do choose watch One Piece) to have regular social interactions with family and friends and to eat, drink, sleep, and go to the bathroom every now and then.

Actually. One Piece's Filler is special. Why do I say that? Because even though it gets classified as Filler at the time of release, those filler episodes often have some importance in later episodes. This has happened so much that most if the so called filler episodes can't even be considered Filler. The premise and base of the show is adventure. If every episode they are doing just that, then there is no filler.(EXCEPT the weird Fillers when they're in a totally different era :/)
@Yeah Meteor wasn't bigger than a planet, dude. Burn through time and space is still just burn, but whic can affect special type of a man, it doesn't make him stronger, hotter etc. By the way, what the deal with flames? Zoro ain't gonna burn her, he cuts.

When Zoro lost his 2000th, he got really pissed off and then approached her that night to finally fight with REAL swords and not wooden training swords. He lost that one, he made his promise to Kuina to become the best... and she committed fall-down-stairs literally the next day.
"Belly? Why is the bounty belly?"
Friggin' anime versions propagating mistranslations... the currency in One Piece is BERRIES, not Belly. Zoro's one of the most dangerous and hightest-bountied individuals in the world, though it didn't start out that way. The progression of these characters throughout One Piece, from nobodies to international warlords, is truly spectacular.
"Stretchy pirate kid? Why do they wear straw hats?"
That "stretchy pirate kid" is one of the greatest protagonists in history, the honorable and legendary pirate captain known as Monkey D Luffy. Having eaten of one of the famous cursed Devil Fruits at the age of four, his whole body was transformed to rubber, making him very stretchy- a power he uses to deliver haymakers that have leveled mountains at a range of hundreds of feet. Through being saved by a close friend in his early childhood, a pirate called "Red-Haired" Shanks, he learned an important lesson about sacrifice and personal loyalties through Shanks sacrificing his arm to save Luffy from a sea monster. When this motivated Luffy to follow in Shanks's footsteps to become a great pirate and search for the Pirate King's treasure, Shanks gave him a straw hat he always wore and told him to one day return the hat once he had become a truly great and strong pirate. Luffy hasn't seen Shanks since that day, but the power of his presence never truly left him. Luffy hasn't gone a day since without wearing that straw hat (They call him "Straw Hat Luffy" for a reason), and named his pirate crew in its honor.

Actually, Zoro's reputation at the start of the series was down to him being a pirate hunter, a bounty hunter. He didn't get himself a bounty because all he did was bring in the guys the government was willing to pay for. In his own words, he needed something to pay the bills, and that just seemed like the simplest option. He caused no end of death and terror for so many, and yet because those were the ones the government wanted taken care of he was given no issue. After he joined Luffy and the Straw Hats, however, his bounty just kept climbing and climbing and climbing. What has the crew done in that time? Well, let's check:
-Toppled a corrupt pirate and naval officer that terrorized a large village
-Liberated an entire desert kingdom from a duplicitous side-hopping master manipulator that turned the citizens against their king
-Declared war on the world government for daring to kidnap and execute their friend whose only crime was continuing to live having the ability to read specific ancient monuments that hold information the government doesn't exactly want people knowing about
And they get PUNISHED for all of this. It's a corrupt, unjust, disgusting society that... unfortunately is one of the most realistic societies in fiction.
And all of this explanation off of the back of one simple comment you made DO YOU SEE HOW FUCKING INCREDIBLE ONE PIECE IS

This might be a good time to mention that, well... as you can probably tell from the aesthetic, One Piece isn't just your average anime with physical laws similar-ish to our own that just so happens to look like a cartoon, it... straight up operates on cartoon logic. To quote Geoff Theoux, a very popular anime person on TH-cam, "One Piece isn't just a manga that looks kinda cartoony, it's a manga set in a cartoon world. A place where animals can talk if no one tells them they're not supposed to, things get heavier the bigger they look even when they're full of air, punch strength is determined mostly by wind-up distance... [and] peoples' appearances comically reflect their inner selves but also that's just what their physiology looks like." Kaku, the giraffe man, ate a Devil Fruit that turned him into a giraffe man. He was already a fierce swordsman, and then he just... happened to turn into a giraffe. He spent 90% of his time in his fight with Zoro trying to be all like "BEHOLD THE AWESOME MIGHT OF THE GIRAFFE" out of rather hilarious insecurities.
"Are these the other Straw Hat Pirates?"
Luffy, Zoro, and Nami only. There's seven others over the course of the series. I'd say more, but... well, I can't spoil EVERYTHING from now, can I?

Kyle get use to the "what" factor in anime. I mean it's kinda the point of them being so distant of reality (shonen I mean), and a lot of them are not similar at all.

It's the other way around actually. You can't name me a single feat from Zoro that outclasses Erza's metoer feat. Zoro slicing pika in half is his best feat he has, and that's no where near as good as Erza's metoer feat. The only thing Zoro has over her is skill, but that's not enough to win when your opponent has better Iq. She stomps Zoro mid-high diff.
What I love about One Piece is that it brings to life a lot of sailor and seas folklore, as well as the amazing character development-despite the fact that a lot of them look weird as hell.
The fighting and techniques also get really wild and brutal, very good show.
Its hard to vote against characters that are seen as one trick ponies. In this case Zoro proved that one trick of his is to powerful to tech out against.

You underestimate the strength of real wood used on spears, also that's why people learn to parry in an angle that will make the sword slide out of the way and get a chance to make the opponent go out of balance or maybe even disarm them. Nobody would try to block swords head on if they were knowledgable enough, not even sword or shield users would do it unless they were forced to be in a desperate enough situation. I just had to say this because what I read was just too one dimensional.

So I agree with the outcome they came up with, but I also agree with you that they don’t often give all the information necessary. They’ve gotten better at not skipping over vital information as much recently, but it was horrible for a while.

Personally I agree, I've seen both shows and Zoro can withstand and deal more damage than Erza could. I don't think it really is since it was already stated in this episode but just in case, small One Piece spoiler below, do not read if you wish to watch the series.
In that scene where he takes all of Luffys pain he ends up covering the surrounding area with his blood and was prepared to die, he didn't because of his absolutely insane willpower. Oh and the giraffe is a person that ate a devil fruit that gave him the ability to turn into a giraffe, there are tons of other fruits, like the rubber fruit, fire fruit, lightning fruit, hell there's a fruit that lets someone turn into a phoenix.
They have said that they specifically try to leave it ambiguous in the intro rundown to keep people from just stop watching once they realize it's a stomp

When Zoro got hit with that bubble and you asked why he just stood there and took it. It's for good reason, One Piece doesn't make everything as simple as "I'm stronger than you so I win" although as you can see they are pretty strong the story sets up interesting circumstances.
As someone who has watched both anime I can say that Erza never would stand a chance against Zoro after both time skips

Zoro would have actually lost, because losing his childhood friend has made it impossible for him to actually raise a blade to any female opponent. The one exception is because THAT particular opponent was immune to standard physical attacks. He attacked WITHOUT using his haki, so he did ZERO damage yet traumatized the villain. Also, the one thing Zoro has never cut in his own show is people in half.
you're thinking of sanji, Zoro can attack any woman EXCEPT the one who happens to look like his friend. he once sliced a snow-harpy in half and terrified her so bad she forgot to phase through it.
@@danielwilson8604 He took his sweet time doing it. And when he FINALLY ACTED, he KNEW she was a Logia user, and DID NOT USE ANY HAKI. He held back and Monet looks NOTHING like his friend. Even if he were to strike a woman that was not a Logia, he would use the back of his swords. Heck, I suspect he only even went that far with Monet because she was attacking the lookalike. And that was after some anime seconds of pondering what to do. Even Sanji has said, IN THE SAME ARC, that Zoro isn't so brutal with women. Come to think of it, Tashigi was fighting Monet, because ZORO COULDN'T BRING HIMSELF TO ACTUALLY ATTACK! He didn't even kill the bounty hunter in Whisky Peak that was wearing nun garb. Yes, he fought Miss Monday, but that was WITHOUT SWORDS, so there was no danger of fatal wounds by just using his grip strength.

One Piece has something called "Devil Fruits" that give powers to the user and may even rewrite their body composition, like how the main character Luffy ate the Gum Gum Fruit and his bones turned into rubber whilst making him unable to swim ever again. So he's a pirate that can't swim, I always find that funny.

They do like to change up the measurements untill the end results to make people question the matchups if they don't bother to do the math.
In the One Piece's World there are special fruits called Akuma no mi, also knows as Devil's Fruits, which gave whoever eat them a unique superpower in exchange of losing their ability to swim, becoming weaker if they touch sea water. And just like Neopolitan Ice Cream, this fruits comes in three sabors: Paramecia-Type Fruits, the Vanilla, are the ones that gaves the user a unique power that alters their bodies, for example Luffy, the protagonist, ate the Gomu-Gomu no mi which make him a "Rubber-Man", meaning that his body is completely like rubber.
Then there are the strawberry flavor, Zoan-Type Fruits, which make whoever that eats them an animal-man, allowing them to obtain a hybrid or full transformation into the animal that is represented by the fruit. For example, eating a Inu Inu no mi, or Dog-Dog Fruit, makes you a Dog-Man, allowing you to transform in your normal form, a Dog Hybrid form or a full dog form.
And finally chocolate, also known as Logia-Type Fruits. This ones are considerate the best Devil Fruits to eat because it transform you body into a nature element, allowing you to generate, control and even transform into the element that represents the fruit. Because of this last ability, you become as intangible as your element allows you to. For example the Mera Mera no Mi, or Flame Flame Fruit, that transforms you into a Flame Man. This fruits, on a downside, also gave you the weaknesses of said element.
Watching someone with no clue of one piece see these clips out of context is hilarious

There are a few people out there who make videos about why Death Battle results are wrong if you ever feel like getting a different opinion. Also maybe try Superhero Beatdown from Batinthesun sometime. Theirs is decided by a pure popularity poll but they do usually make a follow-up video showing the other person winning, too. And they're very high-quality, well-choreographed live-action fights.

kuma's power is that he can push anything with those paw pads on his hands. he can push air hard enough to punch paw shaped holes through rock, push away a person's pain (like he was shown doing here, though it's not shown what would happen if someone else doesn't take the removed pain onto themselves, like zoro did), and he can send a person flying around the world in a bubble.
also, the guy at the end of zoro's segment is dracule mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman. mihawk proceeded to stop zoro's onigiri attack with just a knife, to show zoro how far he had to go. this was in the very early portion of the story, less than 80 chapters in. we're currently at chapter 1106
also, the seduction armor was just used for a quick imagine spot gag. basically it was "my opponent knows every armor I have. well there is that seduction armor I bought recently. no, I have standards. I can't resort to something that embarrassing."
also, erza's flight armor (as in "fight or flight", not flying) does boost her speed

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but shortly after this episode, erza got a feat that let her win, but then not long after *that* zoro got a feat that made him win again.
Again, could be wrong, don't know either series, so I could be confusing this with another episode. Funny if it's true.
generally, it would seem that in a sword fight, Zoro just wins...baring particular circumstances or opponents. he wouldn't beat someone like trunks from dragon ball z for example, even though he is the better sword-fighter, most likely. and of course, at least at the time of this, he probably wouldn't beat Mihawk
What's the joke behind the "Spear is a better weapon than a sword" thing? The Historical reason that spears were replaced by swords for infantry fighting is that Swords were better for that task, spears were mostly kept around for Anti-Cavalry use because of their reach, or because they were easy to make (just a piece of sharpened metal on a stick)
