thanks Chris, received my class 50 and mk2f's this morning also, and getting a notification of your reveiw was the icing on the cake 😊, get well soon chris and thanks for another cracking video and your dedication towards our new scale. 👍
Cheers 🍻 David, much appreciated
Hi Chris, I got a PHILLIPS PH1 screwdriver but it's way to thick between the wheels. Should it be a mini screwdriver and if so can you recommend a specific brand ?
@@JohnParr-fn7ru sorry John. I’ve just checked mine and I use a PH 0 not PH1. 🫣
Mines made by Wera
I have just seen several TT:120 Princess Coronation class locomotives in the Hornby store available for pre-order and I am genuinely excited
They even have the J50 and Class 66 too
Fantastic looking models and love the sound! Still waiting for my pre-order to arrive - hopefully soon!
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed 😜
Received both DCC fitted plus coaches today. Absolutely fantastic, love them. WOW !!!
Yeah I’m thinking those pre fitted ones are slightly better buy. Probably why they’ve sold out!
Oh my God! 😍😍. I definitely need one of these on my layout.
@@mykeready3742 they’re a cracking model 👍
Great to see them in action and dcc fitting. So tempted post seeing this video - thanks again Chris.
Cheers Taff
Great video. Many thanks. My Sir Edward Elgar also arrived today but not my decoder. I’ll be fitting that next week. Cheers!
Those little detail links were very tricky!
Looking awesome Chris mine arrived yesterday but I’m in north wales on holiday for a week going to be a long week before I can open them up and get running them thanks for video they look brilliant cheers
Cheers Ian 🍻. So what will happen first? Un pack the car, or unbox the 50? 🤣
what great locos . cant wait to get some. thanks caroline
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed Caroline
Very nice camerawork!
The size of your fingers gives me a good impression of the scale ;-)
🤣🤣🤣
I'm almost home, just another week to go after 4 weeks of touring. My box with Hornby 50 is waiting for me.
I'm looking forward to this lovely piece of Garlic bread. 😁👍
I wish I'd pre-ordered these. By the time I'd driven home and got on line there was only Sir Edward E available. Still, that's been ordered and I'll just have to wait for the blue large logo.
Great video as always Peachy, keep up the good work and get well soon.
Cheers Derek🍻 I’m pretty sure Hornby will have another batch on its way soon, the pre-orders must have made them realise it was hit!
Can’t wait for mine to arrive 🙌
You’re gonna love them!
What a great review. I have to wait for my 50040 Leviathan and coaches to be sent by Hornby to Rails of Sheffield and then for RoS to fulfill my pre-order
Cheers Stephen 🍻 Hopefully you won’t have to wait too long!
they look and sound fantastic.
Certainly do!
Great video again. Hopefully get one next week if they’re still in stock. Going like hot cakes
They certainly are!
Received mine today. Could you cover adding a DCC concepts stay alive. There seems to be just not enough space at the top. Otherwise runs great. Really nice model.
It’s in the pipeline 😉
Wow they look good, I pre-ordered the 66, wish I went for both now 😂
We always want more! 😂
Mines due Tuesday pity I can't collect they are in Sittingbourne dpd depot 10 min drive away.😢
🤯🤯🤯
There's one thing that let's them down is the bright silver wheels but they can be painted.looking forward to mine arriving
Yes, I agree they need sorting. It’s on my list for when I get around to weathering them
Success I attained Peachy level just installed my decoder before watching your video and I even put it in the right way 😝 and it was as smooth as yours
I blame it on rushing!!! Or my medication 🤣
@@PeachyTT120I think you were far too giddy lol and my skills are getting better first time decoder install
@@East_Mallingford_Railway 😜🤣🤣
Thanks Chris, was it just me or did it all go a bit "David Attenborough whispering in a forest" when you were talking about the windscreen wipers? 😀
🤷🏻♂️🤣🤣
Wonderful Video. Thank you for this presentation. I'm looking forward to my Class 50 in Era 7 livery. It would be nice if Hornby would soon bring the Mk1 coaches into the Era 7 version. Greetings from Berlin, Germany.
I think they will make the Mk1 in blue grey. It’s been mentioned in the catalogue for two years now.
Looking excellent.
Agreed. They do look soooo good!😍
Hi Chris. Me again does your class 50 seem slow mine does compared to the steam trains or is it me have the two of them and they are the same .
I don’t think so, but then I don’t run any of my stock particularly fast
I’ve had 2 class 50’s and both lose drive at one end it seems to be a design flaw.. the drive system fails during initial run in.. so i gave up and returned them. I’ll try again after a few months. Hopefully they will have got rid of the problem.
@@T4Van-E-daycamp yeah you’re not the only one to have had this issue, I think it’s been diagnosed as an issue in assembly at the factory with the drive cup having been installed about 1mm to far onto the motor axle.
Hi Chris (and Snowy - yes, I know he's really called Teddy, but who doesn't love the Tin Tin stories?). I ordered the sound-fitted version of "Sir Edward Elgar", but sadly I'm still waiting for him to arrive (Stop Press: I'm lying, I bought the same one as you and it was due to arrive next Tuesday - but I've delayed delivery as I'm away). I ordered mine last July; if you had an affiliate link at the time, then apologies for not using it🥴. Thanks for the tip about that accessory part when fitting the decoder. Could Hornby really not design space for a stayalive? I see that "Leviathan" has derailed already (LOL).
🤣🤣🤣 I knocked it with my elbow!
Hi Chris, just getting into model railways and bought same CLASS 80 as in video plus same decoder. First problem, what size screwdriver do you use to remove the 4 screws from the chassis ?
Basic I know but I think I need to buy a set.
John
Hello John. PH1 (Philips 1) NOT to be confused with Pz1 (pozzidrive 1) as that has a different angle of bit plus extra “teeth” which can damage a Ph1 screw head
Hi again Chris. I ordered a Phillips PH1 screwdriver but it's far too large to access the screws. Is there a measurement I need to get the right thickness to pass through the wheels and fit into the screw head ? Or better still, can you recommend a specific set to cover a range of needs ?
Thanks ,
John
@@JohnParr-fn7ru hello John, yes, sorry. I got mixed up. You actually need a PH0 not a 1. I got mine from Wera
Thanks again Chris. I'll sort it out now.
Thanks for your explaining of class 55. Can I use the bogies for my class 2900 of KTM? Is the distance of middle of the first and second axle and the second and third axle 23 mm? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Did the coupling derail the TTA or didn’t you put it on the track properly?
Ah ha! I wondered if anyone would notice! My fault entirely, just bad coupling up on my part… 🫣
Currently missing out on these 1) I'm skint until payday and 2) all my cash needs to go into the build.
Only slightly jealous🤣🤣
I was really impressed with the Class 50 right up to the point the drive shaft fell out! It looks good with the tankers, unfortunately I didn't get that far. The Mk2f look great, mine are era 8 also.
Oh.. what happened with the drive shaft?
@@PeachyTT120 Ran it in for about 2hrs swapped the mk2fs for the TTA tankers and it just sat there with the engine spinning. Found the drive shaft on the track. Running perfectly until that point. I've emailed CS for a returns number.
How many Christmas Days are allowed in one year? Great to see our scale growing.
🤣🎄🎅
I thought rhey were OO until I remembered the ch name. Great detailing for TT scale.
🤣🤣🤣
Just noticed the toilet windows on those mk2fs look wrong
I’d not noticed… I’m doing a review later in the week on the Mk2f’s so if you could point me towards a reference that would be really helpful
The paint work particularly on the green one is absolutely stunning. Shame about the “loose bucket of bolts” sound but I guess it’s realistic. Another reason I’ve no interest in diesels
Yes it is an odd sounding loco, but some people love the sound they make!🤷🏻♂️
Shame they couldn't get the brake shoes in line with the wheels,Farish manage it in N gauge,Bachmann in oo,but Hornby seem unable in any scale with their diesels, shame.
Yes I appreciate that for someone wanting these models to look spot on whilst on static display, although imo the fact the axle gauge is so much more realistic than any manufacturers OO or N gauge models is a winner for me.
Ok so now I’ve bought one 🤦🏼🤦🏼
@@mykeready3742 excellent 👌
Open boxes well she empty’s the car 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Looks awesome. But once again, Hornby do NOT consider that people might not want to use their HM7000 system! I could see no speaker tabs on the PCB, so now you have to hope that the decoder has solder tabs for a speaker. Have bought 50040. but if this carries on I will not be buying anything else.
But you don’t have to use the HM7000 app with these decoders, they can be operated by any DCC system
I know. But I just wish Hornby would give it's customers a choice of sound decoders rather than tie them.
Do many sound decoders not have tabs for a speaker connection?
@@MikeTT120 Some with 21/8 & 6 pins usually do. But the Next18 tend not to.
What are the S1 and S2 solder pads for? Speaker? Stay-alive?
It's great Teddy let's you play with his trains!
🐕🤣🤣🤣
