Jax Teller is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Going from a presumed destiny, to rejecting it, to reluctantly embracing it, is what makes him special. Being a leader isn't always easy, but with the support of his family and brothers, he blazes a trail all his own and becomes a legend.
This video was months of off-and-on work so I really hope I not only did the character justice, but the entire show as well. I'd love to hear from other SOA fans so if you have any feedback or constructive criticisms of the video, I'd appreciate it if you let me know in the comments. That being said...Let's Ride!

My throat was cooked toward the end of this video so if I sound raspy or out of breath, it's because I was.
Man finally. There isn't neatly enough videos that do deep dives into this show or its characters. It's criminal ally underrated
Jax Teller is also a walking tragedy. Nothing but pain and misery followed this man. The pain that this man endured throughout the entire series was inhuman. This club destroyed him and everything he held dear. It took away his father, his mother, his brother, his best friend, associates, and the love of his life. By the end of the series, he was nothing more than a bag of bones.
And in trying to change the club for the better the only thing he did was that he became the man he hated most. Just like his father, he became the poison of the club both J.T and Jax knew that and that’s why they went out the way they went out. Some of the most beautiful writing Ive ever seen and one of the most criminally underrated shows of all time
@matt0771 you have to remember, there were three Jax's in this series. There was Jax pre Opies death, there was Jax post Opies death, and there was Jax post Tara's death. Opies death unleashed his inner fury and Tara's death was the fatal blow to him. All of season 7, he seemed like a guy who was bleeding out.

Watching Jax lose his humanity and the struggle between morals and survival and the things he does to preserve and regrow his soul is what makes him profoundly human
Loved how you had John Martsons theme in the background. This show was basically a present day red ded redemption story. One of my all time favorite shows!

No it's more like a GTA story!!!! It's got the vehicles , the side missions , the gangs , it's literally GTA as a TV show

Which is why I said a “present day red dead story”. A story of a good man caught in the middle of his gang and mess of shit and how he’s loyal to a fault… more comparable to rdr2 tbh

It’s just a series that hasn’t reached THAT type of audience. I think with time it’ll eventually catch more attention.

This video... brought me to tears because Jax Teller may be a tragic character, but the most outstanding protagonist character of all shows I have ever seen. Other shows have awesome protagonists, but Jax was crafted so so well. I will never forget seeing how season 3 ended because of Jax's brilliant mind at work. I was in shock when i saw him take his throne as President. Seeing him loss Opie was just tragic and seeing Tara lifeless and bloody on the ground broke my heart. And nonetheless he still wanted to make things right for his boys and his club, even at the very end. Thank you so so much for making this wonderful and low down of Jax Teller with this video .

I was really hoping that Jax would break the cycle and manage to avoid what his father feared he could become. There were so many moments I was begging Jax to find a way out and take his wife and children to somewhere else.
We need that Gemma video. Rewatching Sons now, and seeing her continuing on and on to not only include herself into her sons and Clay's Club business contineus to change Jax as well

I cried like a baby when Abel was Kidnapped. My wife was pregnant with my son at the time. It felt so close to home. I named my son Jaxon. We call him Jax ❤ SoA is my all time favorite show. I was 19 back then. I’m 26 now. The show helped me grow into a good man and a good father. Great video man!

I’m so glad someone agrees King Arthur was criminally underrated. Like many, SOA introduced me to Charlie, but man, between The Gentlemen and King Arthur he really shows he’s a hidden gem. Great video, Sir, thanks for covering it.

Three things really brought me into this show:
1. Charlie Hunnam's convincing portrayal of Jax Teller. Definitely one of my favorite instances of a Brit playing an American; others would include Hugh Laurie as Greg House, Idris Elba as Stringer Bell, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange
2. The fact that Jax happens to be a high school dropout
3. In the Japanese dub, he's voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa
Watching it with Japanese dub sounds really cool
Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead
I think we all forget how smart Jax is. Just with little details he’s able to figure stahl out for not having info in season 2. While he does have anger issues. He slowly becomes more and more ruthless and cunning. He’s a love child of clay and Gemma. He only had the morals of his father till each death hit him. From season 4 onwards the guy had died honestly

At 26:02 that aspect of Jax learning from his enemies is what I loved about his character in that season . Dope arc.
Jax's look is pure cali 100%, lived here my whole life and you'll see one piece or another of his outfit on almost anyone you pass by in public

Great video! For someone who is such a big fan of Jax I can’t recommend the show Viking enough if you have not already seen it. The main character feels like if Jax grew up in a Viking era

Jax was literally the definition of “cursed from birth” he lost his dad, in a way his brother, his best friend and his wife and had to kill his own mother because of this club
your channel should have so many more views. ive watched a few of your videos now, and the Juice(Judas) one is next. you have a great mind for analysis.

Charlie actually walks like that irl. I’m sure he may have exaggerated it a bit, but he talks about his walk in multiple interviews.
Tara’s death scene is so deeply impactful, that scene makes me feel emotional every time I see it.

I understand why many people saw Jax as “wishy washy” or “flip flopping”. They’re coming from bio-family and legit world. Many people that have strong, loving (even just decent) bio-family bonds don’t understand the chosen family connection. You can see that when a spouse will regularly choose to side with their bio-fam vs their spouse.
Someone connected to their bio-fam needs to understand that that’s a choice. How one’s family comes together doesn’t matter as much as how one chooses to keep it together.
Growing up in any type of “alternative” lifestyle can be hard to leave. Growing up being expected to take over a family business and you want to do something else is a difficult choice to make. When you grow up in a lifestyle that crime is normal and that’s how y’all survive then leaving becomes even harder. Thus knowing you want out and making that transition isn’t as simple as telling your family and starting your new career. He wasn’t flipping so much as he wasn’t moving forward on a straight path. There were curves, forks, crossroads thus sometimes he had to go back and try a different route
Watching the innocent Chinese guy get tortured by Jax was the sad as hell man. It made me hate Gemma all the more.

Season 3 has the absolute best ending of the whole series. It was incredible how that plan fell together and it blew me away as I watched it for the first time.
I hated what they did to Juice in the later Seasons, he was my favourite character on the show.

I stopped listening around the season 3 take. Someone tell me if he's worth listening to. Leaving Abel with a clean cut family is exactly what Jax would do. He's been scared of his life tainting Abel since before the kid was born with his fears coming true in the last season. That was him trying to save his son. Not abandon him.
That season 3 take was off in my opinion, but you should definitely watch the rest.
It was the only opinion I disagreed with, so you'll enjoy the rest LOL but yes I agree he didn't understand that part. Jax has tried to do the right thing with his son ever since he had him. He at first pushed away Tara (or tried to rather LOL) for the same reason. He every quickly learned how many lives he actually affects, and knew that he had to do right by all of them, one way or another. And then to find out that his father was trying to come here because he was trying to do the same thing with Jax himself? It made him have a moment of fear. Rightfully so.
Agreed with most of this brother however, Season 3 was amazing specially the ending.

It’s been 10 years since this show ended, I think it’s time for a sequel series. Showing Abel as a club member and Thomas as a doctor following in his mother’s footsteps. I know this shits on Jax’s sacrifice but it would call back to Gemma handing the ring to Abel telling him his future is the club.

You got a lot of stuff wrong about Jax's deal.
All the members that got arrested were gonna end up in prison anyway, because of the Zobelle assault charges and shit. Also, Jax didn't "tell them and convince them to go along", the whole "deal" was a "club move", means the club sat down and voted on it before Jax set it in motion, he only lied to Stahl that the club would have him killed if they knew and everything he said along those lines
