    Another extremely informative episode from a garage determined to go above and beyond with their love of cars. Well done and I love this team and the work they are doing. Some people have no class using the C-bomb just because they assume they know the presenter. Ignore those idiots, you are doing a fab job.

    I'm building a v10 r8 engine here in Brazil. During the inspection before starting assembly, I noticed that the oil pump does not turn by hand. If I disassemble it halfway, it spins. It has many deeply scratched parts. That's probably what caused the breakage. This pump must rotate freely in the hand, correct?

  • @waynep343
    @waynep343 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    pump housing molded seals... with CMM and 3D scanning.. you could scan a few housing ends and have dies made to work with oring manufacturers equipment for customs. i wonder if you could slide a forshida seal on the input shaft to protect the inner seal like a slinger

    The size of those pumps! Why does the scavenge side need to be double the size of the pressure side? Do the pumps need upgrading when you turbo the engines?

    • @REPerformanceUK
      @REPerformanceUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The scavenge has to empty the sump to keep the tank full, but also has aeration to content with so you normally find that side of the pump is bigger.

  • @behrouzsalehi3246
    @behrouzsalehi3246 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I may be wrong, that is not corrosion , it is caused by fretting a micro vibration caused by gears
    And spline shafts would wear out , using anti fretting grease will help to fix the spline wear, brown stuff is ferrous dust

    • @REPerformanceUK
      @REPerformanceUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be that too, but the corrosion build up on the shafts is pretty bad, could be the parts then fretting in the corrosion just wears it away.

    • @REPerformanceUK

  • @ericcindycrowder7482

    The pump in the 5.0 only has 1 scavenge stage. This is not going to work well with blow-by gasses mixed with oil. Any proper dry-sump pump should have multiple scavenge stages like the newer 5.2, or any other proper designed engine with dry-sump.

    • @REPerformanceUK
      @REPerformanceUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works well enough for the application, but yes but design standards now is out dated.

      @@REPerformanceUK I have a recently acquired 2003 Arnage with 14,800 miles on it where the previous owner split the front underbody cover. A shop in New York has it to scan and print. If those sleeves are easily purchased, I'd at least have them nitro-carburized. I would think volume is a major issue for you.
