Thanks for the flip-through! I love a good flip-through. I think that this is a great book to buy with the express purpose of experimenting and/or pulling the book apart, because . . . experiments! Which is exactly what I am going to do. =)
Agreed. I’ll end up using it as a test book. I still maintain if you’re new to Kerby, there are better compilation books to choose from…and I still think there are other images that would have been better selections.

Seems like Kerby isn't coming out with any new content but still wants to inject some cash flow.....reprinting old work into a new book is the solution
He has a new book coming out in 2025. And he did say Alien Worlds was the last in that series. I know from Insta he had some large commission projects he was also working on. I’m not necessarily putting this on him, as I am almost certain there is publisher pressure and contractual obligations at play.
Apparently there was a time after the Morphia series where he stopped making coloring books because of bureaucracy. That was a bit before I started really getting into adult coloring though, so I don’t know all of the particulars.
@QueenofFlannelColors absolutely, the publisher's I have no doubt have had a heavy hand in this release
My Thoughts are: This is a Perfect Book for Those who use Markers as their Main Medium, I like this Book because of the fact, I get a Mix of Pictures without having to purchase all of His Books. Thank You for Sharing!😊

The book is called reflection, the point of the mirrored pages is literally to reflect so you can have the same picture with 2 very different outcomes, granted most of his double pages usually have differences the differences for you but he's kind of left it to us to do that ourselves, I'm open to the idea of these gives you a chance to try new things🤷♀️ I always buy 2 of the same book anyway so I basically have a practice book I can learn different things in then a book for when I know what I'm doing😅 ❤

Questo libro a me incuriosisce parecchio, ho tutti i libri di kerby tranne le raccolte e questa penso sia l'unica che potrei comprare. Kerby credo l'abbia ideata appunto per fare doppie pagine con colori opposti ed è per questo che ha trasformato le pagine singole in doppie, se li colori pensando di fare appunto come lo ha ideato kerby è fantastico ma se li pensi come disegni singoli allora questo libro non ha senso prenderlo ed è meglio prendere altre raccolte.

Very helpful flip through. I know for sure that I won't be buying this one as it is just repeats of previous books. Kind of lazy imo.

I think its a good book for people that dont have and intend to have a bit of all of kerby books or collectors of everything he does. I have many books by him but let alone the compilations ( I just have the first one) because his artwork is amazing but color the same thing again doesnt suit me. Even so its a beautiful book to use alcohol markers .
I agree. That being said, I think there are other compilations that give a wider selection of his images to color. I’ll use this one as a test book for planning projects. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and for the watch! 🙏🏼❤️
I agree that there have been better compilation books image wise. Especially if you’re going to be ‘testing his waters’ compilation books can be great! I won’t be picking this one up as I don’t have ALL of his books and don’t find a need to have all of them BECAUSE of the compilation books available.

Thanks for the review. I tend to only get his compilations but I counted about 11-12 flip images for a total of 22-24. I didn't really enjoy double page spreads because I don't have a lot of time and they would take weeks for me to finish since I also don't like WIPS. I also didn't like coloring the same image twice so all the mirroring doesn't do it for me. That's just me & everyone is different which I'm totally fine with.
I'll likely pass on this 📚 for now & wait for a major sale that would get me the 📚 for those images I don't yet have or that in other 📚 I couldn't color because I went tooo crazy with mixed media and the paper while good didn't hold up. 😂 Totally appreciate your review and the care im which you express your thoughts. You can't please everyone and you do not have to. See you in stream! ❤
And they aren't even legit double page spreads, sadly. I don't mind a good double pager every once in awhile...but these are literally just the same image flipped. It's a bummer but at least there's a new book coming next year.
This has publisher marketing team written all over it, I think. And maybe they went down the flip route because there aren't that many suitable symmetric(ish) spreads in the newer books? I agree with you, it's a bit off. There must have been a better way of doing it. I'm not gonna rush to get this one.

Yeah. I don’t want to speculate on contracts and whatnot. Just seems a bit misleading. I thought there might have been some actually modifications to some of the images. Disappointing.

I'm a big Kerby fan and I actually preordered this book. After looking through it and seeing the mirrored images, I was a little disappointed. It's still nice to add the collection, but it doesn't particularly motivate me to color in it
I agree. It'll probably end up a test book for me when I'm planning future projects.

It feels like a cheap trick to fill a coloring book with those mirrored identical pages. Definitely not a fan of those. I don't enjoy coloring the exact page twice. I'll pass on this one for sure.
That’s part of the reason I was a bit miffed about the wording in the front of the book. It made it sound like there were actual alterations made to the images…and most of those images in particular were just flipped vertically. I can do that in seconds in Photoshop. In general, I don’t mind having multiple copies of the same image. But not the way this book is formatted. Which is unfortunate.

@@QueenofFlannelColors I wonder who came with this whole concept. Reflections sounds like a nice title, the content is a bit of a mess imo. I love Kerby's art, I love his Myth books and the Fragile world (which was for a good cause too), but I don't buy the compilations.
Also you sounded a bit hesitant when you expressed your feelings about this book. Never feel bad about voicing your dissappointment.
@@DreamingDrag0n Yeah I was definitely hesitant and trying to choose my words thoughtfully. Reality is though, whether I’m constructively critical or just full on “this is bad” people are going to have something to say. I’m just kind of geared toward the whole compliment sandwich model I guess.

I honestly had a hard time formulating my thoughts on this one. Especially not knowing the behind the scenes happenings and the business of it all. I don’t want to be negative…but also don’t want to be disingenuous.
