- Dr. Noel Bairey Merz sheds light on the facts and myths related to heart disease, a disease often seen as a "man's disease," but one that kills more women per year at all ages than breast cancer. She stresses the importance of spreading awareness about heart disease and pleads everyone to have a more personal relationship with your heart.
TEDxWomen was curated and produced by The Paley Center for Media. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
I heard your voice in the back round on my I Pad. I said to myself, " she sounds like Barbra". Today I have listed to Jane Fonda all day discussing bulemia. Now. Heart disease. 👍🎈
After my heart attack ,I was given a catherizationand - that doctor said it was a stress heart attack, the next heart doctor/ surgeon I saw told me that I couldn't be under enough stress to have a heart attack...the urge to put out his lights was difficult to control. And no I didn't have any of the symptoms that are usual except my chest felt like an elephant was sitting on it and I was unusually and suddenly tired...thats my story...
I lost my Mother to an unexpected heart attack. It was exactly like Dr Merz said. There was no warning, no time to say goodbye. We were all utterly shocked. Watching this has been personally very eye opening. Thank you Dr Merz and all the other Drs working on this. And thank you Barbra Streisand for bringing awareness to this disease. 🙏🏼
😮
😢😅😮❤
It doesn't surprise me this Diva, would use her voice for awareness, Nurse Nightingale, was also a saving medical activist- Our Mother of Nursing, Lamp to enlighten us into a new age of science and health care. Love you Babs.
Thank you Barbra for all you do.
Oh Barbra, you are near to perfect! I love you!
Go Streisand. You make a difference
Barbra, I love you!
@rriverstone1 your comment is so lame! The woman has donated 5 million dollars for research, give her a break! She didn't need to be there to begin with, she's publicly speaking to raise awareness for cardiovascular research and what have you done?
I clicked on this because I was interested in what Barbra Streisand would talk about in a TED talk. I had no idea it would be about heart disease. This may will save my life!

Has anyone noticed a cardiologist also spoke?
lovely
Why are doctors and their teachers blamed all the time. She says doctors are not given proper training for diagnosing the signs for heart disease. This profession requires the longest education time among all other professions. Why are not the patients are blamed because they are living sedentary lives, over-eating, are obese, are smoking, drinking, not resting or sleeping properly? Are all these the sins of doctors only because they are doctors?
2023 still expecting USA Women's Equal Rights Amendment to be ratified ... grateful for the Affordable Care Act (President Obama and President Biden) ... Women Keep On Keeping On , Women Matter !!♥️
er why does it look like someone wrote the whole thing for her
She could've learnt to speak about the subject from the top of her head with the help of let's say power point bullet points only, instead of reading the whole tedious, half hour long thing from cue cards! It wasn't very convincing and seemed as if she wasn't really that much invested into the subject and just borrowed her famous face to it. Making blunders (looked unprepared) didn't help either. She made it look like anybody from show biz with good recitation skills could've done this bring-awareness-to-women's-heart-issues speech. And maybe better presented, too. Just give them the cue cards and off you go on the stage read them, as you were trained to do as a show biz professional. Great subject, poorly executed. Stick to musicals!
izeizei do you not know that Barbara suffers from stage fright? She is a singer not a huge actress, you are a mean bully. Take the info and stop being so cruel.
