30:19 you have magic pillows too !!! I get up in the morning and come out of the shower and BOOM, bed is made and fancy pillows are all magically in place.
Hahaha. They were out there by a magic fairy. I have one too. I come home from work and the laundry is done, the dishes are clean and bed is made. Crazy! Live my magic fairy. Hahaha
Love the Murphy bed. Add an attachment point above the window for a short strap with hooks to hold the bed up in the middle when raising it. Need not be tight or vertical yet. Now the bed stays up while you fold the legs and attach the ratchet strap. No more fighting the bed weight while attaching the strap!
In any case, Happy Camping!
One suggestion from another hunter because of your heater. Add one or two CO detectors….. just in case.
Thank you. Great suggestions. I think I’ll add a strap. Never thought about that before. That would make it a lot easier to hold up to the wall while strapping it down.
REALLY NICE.... SIMPLE, BASIC, EFFICIENT AND LIVEABLE. GREAT JOB.
Thank you. Since we finished it, our time away from home is much more enjoyable.
We have a 7x14 that we haul our 2 seater sxs. I really like your bed design. We are putting together all the materials to start the project. I really appreciate your thorough walk through and explanations.
Awesome. If you need any help on anything, just let me know. I may be able to give some pointers.
Great job, all the way around. Thanks for sharing your tiny home, trailer conversion, toy hauler, vacation home, and dare I say "Daddy's Dog House" whe the in laws visit...😳😉👍💪🛠
Hahaha. Yup! That’s exactly what it is. lol
You could make that bed 10 times easier by simply putting a cable or 550 cord on the side and have an eyelet on the bed that they quickly hook to. and all you have to do is lift the bed. Hook those eyelets and they will hold the bed while you fold the legs and put the ratchet strap on it.
That’s a good idea. That would make life easier. It would give me the 3rd arm I need so badly. Haha
Really great. So much room. I like all the space around the bed, and you are so well supplied. Happy for you.
Thank you. We love it.
I love the idea of the two fridge situation. It’s nice to have someplace to put the drinks and then plenty of room for your food. Have a merry Christmas.
Thanks. Not only does it give us a drink fridge, but gives us a 12v fridge if we don’t have 110v. But yes, two mini fridges are better than one! lol
11:04 when you use a ratchet strap you are supposed to leave a little bit of slack so that the strap spools more on the hub rather than just having one go around so the strap bites into itself and has a stronger resistance to slipping. Based on the rating of even a cheap E track ratchet strap and the load on it to hold up your bed I'm sure you would get away with it but it's hard to watch a video where somebody is so good at doing everything the right way but make a common mistake like that 🤔. The only reason I ever learned it is because I'm a trucker and now I see other drivers and shipping personnel not know all the time and when I show them they always say the same thing I did when someone corrected me... "AHHHHHH!!"
Good info. Ok, next time I put up the bed I will try that. Thanks for the tip. I always appreciate tips from guys that know more than I do!
@@OurLifeInTrees i'm glad you took it well. Also keep in mind that the easiest thing to do would be to not push the bed up with as much force and let the ratchet strap do the work for you which would make things easier and then that will cause the strap to go around the spool at least a couple times and achieve the same result! I guess it's also important to point out that every time you ratchet that thing even the full range it's really only turning that spool I think 20% of the way or something like that so it takes a bit of cranking to get it looped over itself and of course when you lock the ratchet strap handle down that locks the SPOOL itself in place so that's why you want the strap to have at least two full revolutions around it so it can bite into itself because when you stop and think about it that is what is keeping that strap from pulling away it's literally just the surface tension of the nylon strap against itself. Now of course if you overdo it and put too much strap on the spool that's a problem as well because then there isn't enough room and it's also a pain in the butt to undo so you're looking for that happy medium! Well I guess it's safe to say only a couple of guys like us could have beaten the horse to death like this on such a basic topic 😂
@@MAXIMUSMINIMALIST Haha. Great info. I never thought about any of that honestly. It would make it easier not to have to force it all the way up as well.
Thank you for investing the time to share.
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
It looks great! I love our little 6x10, but man the space you have is so amazing! We talked about a fold up bed at one time. But decided to change from full bed to bunks. I like your choice in wall and ceiling covering. Great idea for the snap on black out curtain. You have a great build. Thanks for sharing the tour.
Thank you! I needed a trailer large enough for my RZR. But honestly I bought a smaller trailer first and then we decided we wanted a bathroom too. So I upgraded from a 16’ to a 20’. The problem is that I currently have a 1/2 ton truck, and it sure makes it work!!!
Thanks again.
Nice Build, and as always it’s a work in progress lol. Beautiful rig man you guys enjoy it. Safe travels.
Thanks. I appreciate the positive feedback.
Great build ...Enjoy camping and be safe .
Thank you!
Great bill out and tour. Thanks you have good ideas.
Thank you. We appreciate it.
I like the way you think
Thanks. This turned out much better than my original plan, but we are really happy with it.
Just starting my 8.5x20 toy hauler. Thanks for some great ideas
Awesome! They are cool projects.
I want to turn a mini toy hauler into a mobile grooming trailer... This looks amazing
That would be cool. Thank you.
Good job I always worry when I see no emergency exit , glad u have 2 of them. Now the truck u drive is excellent but that Polars I don't know..... Can-am would be much better ....hahahahaha ...kidding all good man excellent job u just need a box awning then u are golden ......From Sherwood park Alberta Canada .....Stay safe and good riding....
Haha thanks man.
Killer build man wish you guys safe journey
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Great job everything was well thought out👍
Thank you. Too bad it took almost 3 years and 3 bathroom remodels. lol
Nice work! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. We love it.
Thank you for sharing your cool build.
Thanks for the nice comment. We love it.
Nice build. If there is one thing that I have learned from owning many campers over the years is NEVER cut a hole in the roof for any reason. Eventually they always leak.
I’m sure you are right. I hope mine doesn’t leak anytime soon. lol
Yeah but the AC kinda has to go on the roof.
If you look at actual RVs they use a TON of caulking on everything to where it honestly looks sloppy and unprofessional. But it’s on the roof so no one will see🤷♂️
@@bluesfan6862 That's why you use a mini-split and put the fan unit on the wall.
@robertheintz8017 still a home in the exterior and RVs and trailers from the factory all hand fans and ACs in the roof already
@@davidschlarp1606 I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say here.
Just beautiful
Thank you! 😊
That is very interesting
my friend good idea's.🎉
Thank you
Nicely done.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
nice and very well thought out!
Thank you. We love it!
Very nice job
Thank you. We love it.
nice job mate !
Thank you. It is great for us.
Now that’s beautiful!!!👠🚌👠
Thank you. We love it. Mind you, right now it’s in the 20s and we wish we had insulated the floor! Darn it! lol.
Great job!
Thank uou
Well I really learn something
Thanks
👍💯 thank you for sharing with us
It was a fun project!
Nice build! Would like to see how your ran your plumbing for the shower
Thank you. We used PEX and ran it behind the shower stall to the water heater and then into the faucets. I wish I had videoed that part of the build but unfortunately I didn’t. Sigh.
Great job and forethought! Would like to see your toilet if you have one.
Thank you. I forgot to video it, and it’s kinda gross filming toilets. Haha. We just use a portable camping toilet. It has a little black water tank that detaches and is easy to dump at a dump station or septic clean out. It has a water tank up top and can flick with pumping. Not perfect but it’s much better than a bucket! lol. I have a link to it in the description.
Awesome!!
Thank you.
Man loves hooks!!!!!!🪝🪝🪝🪝🪝🪝🤨🥰
For sure!!!
With ur fridge set up, id buy a 2nd fridge same exact model and just leave it in box , because such a fridge could be discontinue and you would be stuck finding something to fit such an exact space
I have thought about that but I’m sure it’s already discontinued. I bought that fridge 20 years ago! lol.
Nah just build oversize then use filler strips to downsize to individual model size.
Just starting my 20' Three questions :
First how did you secure the wall paneling?
Second how did you hide the seams from the panels or what would you recommend?
Third what thickness insulation did you use or recommend?
Awsome build!!! Great video
Thank you.
I used self tapper screws into the metal “studs” to hold plywood on the walls. Then a brad nailer into the plywood for the wall boards.
I butted them up and you don’t really notice the seams. On the ceiling we used the factory luan strips for the seams.
I used 1” insulation on the walls and doubled it one the ceiling.
Hope this helps.
@@OurLifeInTrees perfect. That was my plan
Awesome
Thanks.
Why not attach the straps to each end of the bed and the straps are hidden under the bed when it’s down? Just a thought. Nice work , I like it a lot. 👍🏻
I have been thinking about adding a couple straps. If nothing else, just to add an extra hand while I strap it. lol
Thanks. We really like to too. Too bad our water heater wasn’t drained before a cold snap came and it froze. Just fixed it and hopefully it works when we go back!
great design, well done space is nice, you didn't mention a toilet , I suppose there is a portable one ?
Thank you. Yes. We have a portable camp toilet we use.
Very nice!! Simple but beautiful and has all the comforts of home. Do your clothes go under the bed in containers when you're camping?
Thanks! Yes, we put the clothes under the bed or my duffel bag goes under my nightstand. Ha
good job i like it
Thank you
How wide is your UTV.
Great job
Thank you. I believe it’s 66” wide or so.
Great conversion man! Curious what you had to spend to build this out? Not including the trailer but just the material you put into it. Got a rough idea of that cost you can share?
Honestly, we never really calculated it all. Home Depot, Habitat for Humanity Restore, Facebook Marketplace, and Amazon for most of it.
The shower and 12v fridge were from marketplace. The cabinets, shelves, countertops (actually cabinet doors), etc were from the Restore. I have links to all the Amazon stuff in the description and the Home Depot stuff, wallboard, insulation, romex, breakers, floor paint, etc can be found online.
Oh and I bought the Furion AC unit from etrailer.com and the heater from eBay.
Wow that’s a lot of stuff! I figure we have around $15k all in, which includes the new Continental Cargo trailer for $6,800 back in 2000.
Hope this helps.
Great Build!! Question: What size are your escape windows? Starting our build, but want to acquire all materials.... TIA
Why not put the bed on the other side so you don't have to back in the rzr?
I had to back it in for weight reasons. It wagged badly when I pulled it in forward.
Like yo see your side X side loaded in there.
That’s I good idea. I should make a camping video with the machine in it.
Awesome job ,love it ! What brand trailer is that and was it reasonably priced ?
Thank you. It’s a Continental V-Series. Before Covid, I paid $6800 new for it. I think they sell for over $10k now. I wouldn’t recommend doing a conversion on a Continental due to them using “hell nails”. They are the nails they used to attach the interior plywood. They look like screws with a Phillips head, but they are ribbed nails and are hell to pull out. Wow, what a pain. A few evenings of ripping out the interior plywood and I hated the nails. We learned it was an easier to use a prybar to rip them through the plywood. Then pull the nails out of the metal studs. It was a pain and took two people and a lot of muscle. lol
@@OurLifeInTrees thanks for the info, I also have been looking at the weeroll cargo trailers ,they come with a few outlets installed, including 12v and USB, you can option in a max air fan , 30amp service, and they insulte the ceiling and walls with 1 in foam, 5 rv windows are standard and you can get a vinyl wood looking floor. They're all aluminum and I've heard very good things about them they also have a few other options you can get but they are a little pricey probably about 32,000, the roof is one piece that rolls over the side and is guaranteed for life never to leak no seams dual axles upgraded off-road tires etc. That price I quoted was for a 20 footer, there's a few other things I didn't list in that price, it's a v- nose with a wraparound aluminum counter in front.
That sounds like a great starting point. In hindsight, that would have saved a TON of time and effort!!
How did you make the shelves ? Wood? Stained? Thanks
We bought old cabinet doors at Habitat for Humanity Restore, the sanded them down and stained them. Bought the hangers on Amazon and there are our tables. lol
They look great ! Thanks
@@Indian_dannI appreciate it.
Where did you find the wall paneling
They sell the 4x8 sheets at Home Depot
I really like your setup. I also have a 20ft trailer and a 4seat RZR and plan on doing something like this. First question; how thick is your mattress? Second question; without the initial cost of the trailer, how much should I expect to spend doing something similar? I am trying to justify this route to my wife versus getting a separate camper. Thanks for the video.
Great questions, I’ll need to go measure the mattress and the one I bought we ended up not using and went with a bigger one and then added a mattress topper.
I think we are around $13k to $15k all in. I should figure it up some day. That does include the $7k purchase price of the trailer and some of that is camping “stuff” not permanent with the trailer.
FYI the US has been 120v for like 70 yrs or more
Did I say something different?
@OurLifeInTrees Yes, you always said 110v, while it technically is within operating spec, it can be confusing with 120v/240v that we actually have. It's mostly just people repeating what they've heard. Many electricians even call it 110v. But it's technically wrong. Put a meter on it and you see 120v.
@@mrmotofyOh gotcha. Yes, 110 & 120 are often used interchangeably. I was basically saying I’m not using 12v (my cars 12v system reads 14vs when running), 220v or 240v, or some crazy three phase electrical. Just standard household AC plugs.
What size truck pulls that trailor
I started off using my 2019 Ram 1500 limited with eTorque V8 it was a bit scary, especially on a windy day. Then I got a 2022 Ram 2500 mega cab Cummins and I barely knew it back there. Most recently I pulled it with my Escalade. 6.2l, 6L80e and AWD. It pulled fine but the short wheelbase I feel is a bit sketchy and stay under 60mph.
Where is the toilet
We have a portable camp toilet we use.
Where did you get the bed frame
I got it on Amazon
amzn.to/3SnGRZT
Where's your toilet? I think I seen a bucket
We usually park near a real bathroom. It’s been parked at our vacation property and we have a bathroom nearby to use. We actually even built a bathhouse there. If we have to use the camper, we currently have two options, neither I’m a big fan of. One is a portable camp toilet that flushes and dumps into an RV dump station, and the other is a bucket with toilet seat and composting material in it. Here in Oklahoma, a trailer with holding tanks needs to be registered and have plates. A trailer without holding tanks doesn’t need to be registered. Strange but true.
Here is the camp toilet I purchased
amzn.to/4dgx4w8
Make sure you keep those booger lights on at night!
What’s a booger light? lol
Where do your clothes go?
We put them under the bed. We usually just do weekend trips, well, almost every weekend. lol. If we stayed for a long time, I’m sure we would run into clothes storage issues.
I did not see a toilet, so I'm assuming that you don't have one which to me is stupid. How do you use the toilet when you need to????? A shower and no toilet.
We use a portable camp toilet. I didn’t want to have to deal with a black water tank. That sounds miserable. I didn’t have it in there the day I made this video.
