Don't bluetooth devices have to be intentionally paired initially for it to later immediately connect? Also, have we not also learned that his phone was off during the crime and came back on when he was approaching his home.
They didn’t say it connected. Forensics can still see that the phone showed up on her network whether it connected or not, but if the phone was off, it shouldn’t appear.
What I don't understand is, I thought Kaylee had moved out and was just down for the weekend to visit Maddy one last time prior to moving. If so, would the speaker not of been packed and removed from the house just like all her other belongings?
Her stuff was boxed upon bdrm, and her bdrm furniture was there, ditto dog crate. I also dont quite understand the reasoning behind it, but apparently that's how it was.
Bluetooth has a range of 30 feet. So, you don't need to be IN the bedroom, you can be outside the house in your car as long as it is within 30 ft range. He might still have a hard time explaining his presence 30 ft from the bedroom. But if his phone was completely turned off, there would be no digital evidence. If Wifi is off, Bluetooth would connect to phone as it does not need Wifi (internet) to connect. Good stuff! Thanks Ashleigh and Clark!
they are saying now his phone was not off, but in airplane mode. That would be another stupid mistake he made if it was true. That would make sense if his phone was trying to connect to different Bluetooth capable items.
But as a doctoral student in the field, wouldn’t he have known this and avoided bringing his phone along for the trip from his apartment to the scene and back?
He killed 4 people. He's an absolute moron. What more evidence of being unaware of reality is needed than killing people ? Absolutely no reason tho assume he's "smart".
The phone was completely shut off. What he should have done is left the phone on, but left it at home. The fact that the phone was shut off shortly before the murders, and turned back on shortly after the murders, is suspicious, but not absolute proof by itself.
I wondered what that camera and microphone were doing up on that pole strategically placed at the second floor level located at the "back" of the house (by the second floor deck by Maddie's room). Now, we have this as well. It seems that this house at 1122 is on stage 24/7 just due to circumstance(s). I'm so sorry that this has happened to all of the Idaho 4, my loving prayers and thoughts are with the families.
In my theory, his trying to do that was all part of preplanning these mirders. He planned to do this before he even moved there. All his PhD studies… he was his masters thesis and will write his dissertation if he doesn’t get the chair first.
Moral of the story and this is NOT to people who endeavor to do the right thing as a rule, rather those who stand for nothing and fall for anything: Get used to the idea of being watched and do the right thing whether you are watched or not. And that doesn't mean taking numerous careless steps and changing your mind at the last minute. It means controlling your mind every day. Don't think about revenge. Don't imagine what it would be like to attack someone. Don't let the rejection of others define you. Do a check up from the neck up and ask yourself why people don't want you around. It's painful but we all have to treat feedback as a friend. The thing is, there will be always someone in life to kick you. Decide what direction you want to go and make it a good trip FOR EVERYONE.

Sorry, you're missing a part of this long story and that's why you don't understand.
Kaylee Goncalves had moved out of that house a few weeks before the crimen because she was going to move to Texas, she was only visiting that weekend to show her new car to her best friend and I suppose to finish taking her things out of that house.
@@ka82nz Her parents said she only had her bed left. I think she was sleeping in there with Murphy, heard something and went to check on Maddie. I think when she opened the door she tried to run and he grabbed her and threw her on the bed and that’s why they were on top of each other.

Don't bluetooth devices have to be intentionally paired initially for it to later immediately connect? Also, have we not also learned that his phone was off during the crime and came back on when he was approaching his home.
My thinking as well
Yeah, this video is all clickbait
They didn’t say it connected. Forensics can still see that the phone showed up on her network whether it connected or not, but if the phone was off, it shouldn’t appear.

If any of them had an echo dot it can record even if you don’t ask it to. Sometimes it turns on and records noises and voices. Check those devices!!!
I thought it was more like 30 feet.
20-30 ft at my house. If he says he has never been to that house, he is lying.
they are saying now his phone was not off, but in airplane mode. That would be another stupid mistake he made if it was true. That would make sense if his phone was trying to connect to different Bluetooth capable items.
@@johnward8064 Yes, you are absolutely right, I was wrong. It is 30 ft, not 300 ft. I have corrected it, thank you!
30ft is the official listed, but the technology has improved quite a bit and -- in practice -- you will frequently find ~100 ft.
But as a doctoral student in the field, wouldn’t he have known this and avoided bringing his phone along for the trip from his apartment to the scene and back?
Yes, you would think so.
@@49ersfan62 He also left his phone on the dozen or so times in the weeks prior to crime when he scoped out the location, which was equally stupid.
He probably needed it for the wild route he took to get home.
Absolutely Fascinating. Great Guest.❤
I wondered what that camera and microphone were doing up on that pole strategically placed at the second floor level located at the "back" of the house (by the second floor deck by Maddie's room). Now, we have this as well. It seems that this house at 1122 is on stage 24/7 just due to circumstance(s).

"Alexa, why did Dylan wait 8hrs before calling the cops?"
I'm surprised the question wasn't asked whether or not they actually had a Wi-Fi hotspot in the house. If I'm not mistaken, that will keep a more detailed record of phones that were present. The interesting thing is that even if it doesn't show Kolberger's phone wasn't there it doesn't necessarily prove he wasn't there but if it shows that an unaccounted phone was there then that shatter's the whole state's case against Kolberger
Weak. They're looking for ANY reason to talk about this case
I highly doubt this could be a credible lead. The suspect had switched his mobile phone off before he committed the crime. No pings from his cellular were collected during the time the slayings were presumed occurred.
Baseband will continue to function unless the battery had been removed.
@@forestsnow6508 The police said his phone was completely shut off during the time of the murder. That alone raises suspicions, but the police said because the phone was shut off, they can't prove where he was based on mobile phone connections to a tower near the crime scene.
They did however see his car in that area on a couple of occasions and I can assure you loads of DNA evidence. Ashley just trying to get more clicks not real ly giving us important new information
@@forestsnow6508 There is no way to detect the location of the phone when it is turned off. You baseband comment is wrong.
So if 1122 had a Bluetooth beacon this could be very credible. Beacon technology uses Bluetooth Smart, an ultra low power version of Bluetooth, which works over a range of a few metres to tens of metres. Beacons continuously transmit a packet of data so that when a smartphone passes by, it receives and decodes the packet, which contains the Beacon's ID number.

Maddie and Kaylee could have been attacked while they were sleeping. May not have had a chance to scream for help . Remember even Ethan and Xana who we knew were awake didn't hear much or they would have bolted up the stairs to help or called the police, or bolted out the sliding door or run down stairs and out the front door. There is all this talk about how can it be possible for Dylan to not hear the attack or screaming but yet nobody mentions that apparently Ethan and Xana didn't hear much either before they were attacked. Also the killer could have put his hands over their mouths to stop them from screaming.

Exactly and you see how far they got in court with that case.
But wasn't his phone turned off during the murders, to hide his tracks there? If so, nothing will record a connection.
Bluetooth is turned off when you turn on airplane mode his phone would not have connected or tried to connect to anything at the house his phone isn't very useful in the case because they don't have GPS pings which would have shown exactly how close he was to the crime scene but they do have carrier pings that they can see he was within 10 miles of the house which isn't good enough as for evidence but that won't matter because they have concrete evidence that will convict him without a doubt they won't be releasing those details until trial
