I found that about every 20th screw's cutting wing does not go though the sheet properly. I realised when i had a water leak. I had to manually push the poly carb up from underneath to get it seated right.
Hi there, thanks for the comment. Which screws were you using, the One Shot or the Multipurpose? And did you screw all the way down until the cutting wing went through? Sometimes it pushes the polycarbonate right on to the purlin before completing the hole, and then the ridge pops back up into place again. Thanks, Kurt
Hi there. Closure strips are optional, in most cases they're not necessary. You generally only use them when you want to seal that end (i.e. if it's a fully enclosed space). Regards, Kurt.
Hi Patrick, the dome washers won't leak as long as they're fastened down to squash over the corrugation. You shouldn't use any sealant as that will eventually work free of the sheet. Thanks, Kurt.
There is absolutely nothing in the US. No screws here have an “expansion/cutter”, though you could find screws with neoprene washers. What you’ll have to do is buy the plastic ridges and pre-drill the holes.
Hi there, yes these are only recommended for polycarbonate roofing. The reason is the cutting wings won't generally cut through metal roofing (and you don't need the expansion hole anyway with metal). You can get ones without the cutting wings that may be suitable. Thanks, Kurt.
I have looked at every hardware outlet I know of, all the box stores and online, and there are no polycarbonate screws like you describe with an integral hole cutter anywhere to be found. Strange, very strange.
Hi there, are you in the US? It seems that they're not available over there for some reason, which is very strange. They're the only ones we use in NZ. Regards, Kurt.
Your presentations are well-paced, clear and thoughtfully presented. Thank you so much. So helpful!
Excellent - thank you
You're welcome :)
Do you call it a one shot fastener? I couldn't quite hear. Thanks for video.
No worries :) Yes it was the 'One Shot' fastener and the 'Multipurpose' fastener. Thanks, Kurt.
@@sunnysidenz OK thank you.

Thank you for your video. Did you use corrugated closure strip before you screw it?

do the Dome-Shaped heads prevent leaks ??" or SHOULD YOU PUT A SPOT OF BUTYL LIQUID BEFORE SCREWING INTO THE PANEL; neat fastner thank you,Patrick.P

Yes they do…c’mon now
Can't find them in the uk either that really sucks
Can you only use these roofing screws on polycarbonate sheets and not metal roofing?

@@sunnysidenz I did a global search and the only place I was able to find them as AU and NZ.
@@sunnysidenz seems to me they must not be required per proper installation
Menards "Multilite" Screw from Amerilux
How is nobody able to find those screws? They aren’t that hard to find….
Shouldn’t you pre drill?
Hi Gus, you can if you want to but you don't need to. These are self tapping and they cut their own expansion hole.
Lovely
Where can these be purchased in the USA?
Hi there, I'm not too sure about the US. I did a quick Google search but couldn't find anything. Thanks, Kurt.
I cant find these any where in the U.S . I must be missing something!
Hi Antoine, there are in NZ. But you should have similar in the US. I know Home Depot sells polycarbonate. Thanks, Kurt.
You are.
