Yes. They are worked flat, in rows. You could certainly use a straight needle!

How do you end up with 40 stitches if you cast on 20?
Hi, I am wondering the same thing. Did you figure this out?
@@christinasoto9073when you knit the 20 stitches for row one, the "knit front and back" (KFB) process every other stitch gives you 2 stitches from the original stitch.
