      I'm still tryna imagine how that is rigged up. like how the magnets were deactivated by (I'm guessing) a command on an arduino control board. they aren't electromagnets, just regular ones. obviously they are spring loaded drawers, but it's so clever how they activate. maybe held in place (or pushed away from the magnet) by tiny levers? but that'd be a bunch of tiny motors and levers inside very little space and I can't really picture that working, unless it's like super fine clockwork. it didn't sound like any motors moving. just a slight bit of latency as the code responds to the circuits being completed in order, and then out it pops (the last one was the most intense). I know how they were held in place, and that springs launched them, but not how the magnets are disengaged so the spring can decompress. maybe a tiny solenoid repurposed to give the drawer a nudge away from the magnetic bond. or lego pneumatics from an old mindstorm kit? lol, nah that'd never fit. really awesome engineering.

    • @SaltNBattery
      @SaltNBattery 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Me too but none of the things he did in this were intuitive. He just knew that he was supposed to add the numbers. Then he kept trying the knobs over and over, like he already knew but it just wasn't working for some reason. Then it looks like he "accidentally" got the correct orientation of the cogs on the first try.
      He usually tries harder to pretend he doesn't already know the solution but he was lazy/sloppy in this video.

    EBFG at the bottom of the box, were keys as to what letter a cog should line up with.
    Also curious if the circle at the bottom inside was another magnet release?

    • @0v_x0
      @0v_x0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah I think the "ALPHa" logo is a clue for the same thing, since that seemed to work as well for the cog orientation, like maybe the developer thought it was too subtle cuz people might just see it as nothing more than the product label. so there's a backup clue that is harder to find but clearer in purpose. but yeah a lil confusing if you find both clues cuz it makes one seem possibly unknown.
      and yeah I deff immediately thought "magnet key!" there's obviously a false bottom to house the electronics to there could be more room in there (like for a pack of cards). or maybe it lets you peek at the brilliant engineering. or maybe it's just meant to be a really cool box to out stuff in/"the destination was the journey" kind of thing.

    I had an idea for you too create your own puzzle that incorporates a magic trick to solve. Since a lot of magic props are created by the magician to look like ordinary items while having a secret function to pull off the illusion, I think it would be cool to have that hidden function as a solution to a puzzle. Not only would the person get the satisfaction of solving a puzzle, they get to learn a magic trick they could use on other people. I'm not sure if something like that exist but I think combining your magic with puzzles would be very popular.

    When the magnets are put on the numbers in which you add the two digits to get the code for the knobs...An advanced design idea is to make the positive attractive magnets an add digits together solution and the negative magnets a subtract digits solution as the magnets tried on the back of the box revealed different poles (+/-) on the end of the little plastic pawn knobs.
