Self-described as combining the emergent storytelling components of RimWorld with a tile-based gas-simulation system seen in Oxygen Not Included - Space Haven is an isometric sci-fi colony builder where your colonists build a spaceship, or a whole fleet of spaceships, and you enslave the galaxy, or become a friendly trader. But let's be reasonable, you enslave the whole galaxy. And you laugh as you do so.
Build a prison spaceship and feed the prisoners only nuts. Haha! Nut boy, nut boy! Chew on those you stinky prisoner.
But genuinely if you like Rimworld, chances are you'll like Space Haven too!

Ok, just a bit of a advice, crewmates are very difficult to get. So more emphasis, don't let your guys die. Also I believe I saw one of the crewmates labeled suicidal... keep an eye on him... he may or may not try something... drastic... i.e. locking himself in a room and setting it on fire.

This will be as fun as it will be frustrating for you, Mr Streamer. You'll feel right at home
And like vampires we will feed on his anger and frustration, thus growing stronger.
1. Bottom right there’s the vent overlay where you can close vents automatically if you have a fire or hull breach.
2. Also in the bottom right is the comfort overlay (like rim world beauty) and that can easily become a permanent -30 mood if the place is too uncomfortable.
3. Gas scrubber gets rid of CO2, so if you go into botany put in it a separate room so the plants won’t die off.
4. Try to have two doors on any separate room, suicidal crewmembers can go on mental breaks where they will hide in the room and start a fire after breaking the door or use medical supplies to poison themself. If there’s two doors they’ll just walk out the other one to safety.
5. Spacesuit “lockers” are more of spacesuit closets and your people can’t go through them without a regular door. Spacesuit doors are in the wall section.
6. Always have a surplus of tech blocks, water/ice, energium, and hyperium. Techblocks aren’t too high priority but they’re relatively late in the research tree
7. People shouldn’t be hostile to you because of your difficulty settings unless you declare war or have certain “bad things”
8. The claimable ship is basically derelict. You can also start from scratch in the top left, under the research and click the plus sign if you’d rather have more control.
This game is the perfect compromise, all of the mechanics you know and love from Rimworld and none of the mobs of commenters telling you that you’re playing their game wrong.

Im enjoying this new game - love the soundtrack to. Thanks for showing it to us. Can't wait for mod support - hopefully this will have as many mods as rimworld one day! We need some joris. Jori? Jorises? Joris's? Whatever. We need more daily bear in our lives.
Its gonna be much more complicated to mod compared to Rimworld due to its much complex (although nice) artstyle, so i don't think it will have as much mods

A hint on power management, each modual holds a set amount of power accessible by links and Facilities Ex: the the wall node holds 15pts while the floor node holds 25pts and the block node holds 50pts. Meaning that power gets funneled and stretched depending on the nodes they move through
Which is why the recycler had insufficient power, it was using more power than was accessible via power transfer links
Might've gotten those numbers from an old version. I was just playing it, and floor node is the worst at 25 units, wall mounted has 50, and the main full-block node has 150. They act as essentially small battery backups, so they charge their internal battery first, then power other things off it. So you can actually run for a short time without fuel. A good tip with that is to use the big nodes to power the power hungry things like the heavy machinery, as well as important things you want to keep on until the last second. I personally make sure my recycler is on a large node, now directly fed on a one-way connection from the rectors, as the shuttle can still fly without power, so if you're scrapping a ship when you run out of power (happened often to me since it can take a while to strip an entire ship, all the while burning away your energium.) the recycler will be up for longer to break down the energy scrap into crystals for the reactor.

A bit of advice regarding salvaging and deconstructing. Salvaging gives scrap as a product, while deconstructing gives most if not all the materials needed to build something. Also, recycling scrap does not necessarily give the block of the corresponding scrap, IE. recycling energy scrap gives energy rods and INFRA blocks. Therefore, if you find a claimable ship, claim it regardless if you want to keep it. It's better to claim a ship and deconstruct everything, than to turn a claimable ship into a derelict and scrapping it.
TLDR: Claim all claimable ship and deconstruct the furniture to get all materials needed to build it. And scrapping doesn't always recycle into the same block type.
you should wall of living spaces (including the tables where they eat) and the machinery. everywhere except for their bedrooms is now a horrible place due all the sounds that the big machines make (engines and storage) maybe also wall of the flight console and kitchen!
Definitely plan on it, going to do a bit of redecorating next episode

It’s like Firefly but with Fat Larry. Odd jobs, scrapping, pirating, anything to keep fuel in the tanks and food in the bellies of the crew.
This genuinely looks good. On the edge of my seat for The Beast when she was checking the derelict. Would love to see this become a channel regular.

Yeah this is a real life problem, heat can't be vented out into nothing. It can only radiate very, very, very slowly.
Mr Streamer - first off, I had played this game a bunch a few months ago and found it pretty fun. Really enjoying the series so far and you seem to be enjoying it too! That all being said - while playing this game I found that I starved pretty quick unless I researched and built some hydroponics as soon as possible (make sure to have plenty of water). You may want to look into it. Also another thing to keep an eye on is your energium (blue crystals) as those can go pretty quick when you use a lot of power.
Just two things I wanted to bring to your attention, because dying from lack of food or power is just a big ol' bummer.
I hope this becomes a regular on the channel

an air purifier in your industrial room is always a good idea. also devoiding it of oxygen helps help with occasional fires.
I’ve owned this game for a few months but haven’t actually played it yet, so I am happily allowing Mr.Streamer to make mistakes so I may finally learn the game through him.
This is how got "Good" at RimWorld.
It's even possible to board a derelic ship, that has no airlock. You can board manually through a hull breach. Sometimes giving you an advantage against the bugs.
I'm for Ol' Fat Larry's Big Fat Removals scrapper company.
I can also already see people modding in Xenomorph ships, Genestealer Spacehulks, and many other ones. If this game allows mods anyway.

When you find a derelict ship take it completely apart all hull blocks that way it's easier to upgrade your own ship

Not sure how much you’ve looked at each work bench but each can be set to make until an amount so u never run out of water etc... and each bench has priority. Also early research is key for survival. Oh and size of ship and amount of weight you have on board affects your hyper fuel usage I believe.
You diss the cube, but we all know eventually if you come to like the game even more it's almost unthinkable not to do a borg like conquering run. Then, only then, will you embrace the efficiency of the cube.
the floor-wall-block energy connections transfer diferent ammounts, you might need to build a block instead of just a hidden floor for energy
Imagine though, if you get in range of a planet, you'll get called by a colony that lives there to trade.
The other game about taking ships apart to pay off debt shipbreaker, but industrialized and honestly just more fun. With which I mean to say space haven > shipbreaker, shipbreaker very minimalistic in their features while spaceheaven seems much more rich in opportunities and possibilities. Oh what do I know all I can say is I'm looking forward to larry the interstellar scrap king.

To be honest chef you need to tell the dev to make a borris event. Where Russian space bear crashes into your ship where you have 1to 1 odds of either getting him or fighting him.
I don't remember how, but you can make them crouch when drafted.

The power system might be best considered as 'slow', power is transferred from the producer to the first link one tick, then to anything using the power and then to a next link the next tick.
So if half way along the line something uses up a lot of power, it'll deplete power in that area/from surrounding conduits and the power will have to travel to the depleted area, slowly if you've only got one conduit bridging a gap.
I don't know if that makes sense. Basically place batteries and power production around the ship instead of all in one area, maybe close to what might be using the power.
Admittedly I've not played the game in awhile and I don't think much has changed but I am a stupid, stupid rimrim and I may be wrong.

recycler and other industry rooms are not really as dangerous as the tutorial makes out
Just put some thermal regulators and a gas scrubber in the same room and you won’t have to use spacesuit doors - which is good because spacesuits seriously hamper productivity
just don’t put them near your bedrooms and don’t ever recruit Clumsy crew and you’ll never have a problem

yo mr streamer, you know how you can change what direction power flows through the links?
well using that bidirectional option will reduce how bad rolling blackouts are, as it can draw stored power from the storage of the other power nodes
you really only want to use the one way option when you have a bigger power grid and you dont want the refinery to drain power from life support for example
