Gen 9's Weirdest New Legendary.

- Pokemon Competitive Singles has been turned on it's head with the release of the new DLC. Munkidori is an interesting new addition, a Legendary Pokemon that is a Monkey. Is it good? Not really, but I like it.
The new "Toxic Chain" ability is powerful. But is it powerful enough? That's an outstanding question.
Iron Mugulis and Iron Fellow know all about it.

Some will never figure out how to get Munkidori in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Munkidori Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Munkidori Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.
Arceus exists.
The below text is very relevant to many people.
Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on TH-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

Rabsca revived Great Tusk but used its psychic powers to mind control him
So this is why Great Tusk can use Psyshock :O this deception must be exposed
Necromancer scarab.
what a shocking turn of events truely
I don't think he would, that is an allegation. He looks like he has good friends, and I'm sure they'd vouch for him, absolutely shocking revelations ahead, friends.
Rabsca is working with Babidi from Dragon Ball Z
I think that munkidori’s hidden ability, and the others, are just for flavor.
The “Loyal” Three are meant to be portrayed as a group of thieves.
Munkidori’s Frisk ability likely refers to him being a pickpocket, or at the very least he is scoping you out to see if you have something worth stealing.
Okidogi is literally the guard dog of the group; he is the brawn, he takes by force.
Fezandipiti is the agile and graceful thief with a finely tuned set of skills, he is the Technician.
pickpocket is an ability, could have given him that
Remember that Alakazam has higher offensive stats than this monkey on top of a more flexible and useful ability, so don't hold too much expectations for Munki
Alakazam also doesn't have Parting Shot or U-turn
Its got the offensive and speed off Enamrous and he holds a scarf to a similar effect😊
Alakazam doesn't poison you 30% of the time, alakazam akso doesn't u-turn.
Yeah, but, Munki has better bulk, a better defensive typing, and an ability that works well with both offense, and defence.
Alakazam isn't in Gen 9 so all of these arguments are kinda moot
Frisk still has one use in competitive. Due to team sheets it will always reveal zoroark by revealing the held item since you can see which one zoroark is holding on the sheet
I hope Great Tusk is doing okay, I'm worried, y'all... :(
THE TUSK HAS FALLEN!!! BILLIONS MUST CLEAVE!
Frisk is quite nice to have when farming specific held itemy from wild pokemon. That being said, i'm not sure why they'd make a pure utility ability the hidden ability of a legendary pokemon.
yeah sure, tell that to all the VGC players who got banned from worlds for hacked pokemon.
@@windwaker0ruleswhat?
What is Blud on about
@@windwaker0rulesschizo
@@windwaker0rules That has nothing to do with his comment.
I'm surprised you didn't bring up Gholdengo as an especially problematic obstacle to Munki, even when you mentioned Shadow Ball in its coverage moves section.
Yeah, it has Shadow Ball. It's faster and can KO it with some chip. That's probably what Mr. Cool meant.
"I have ill intent" 💀💀💀💀💀
I cannot express in words how much I love the ongoing plot line in your videos
i’m very concerned about great tusk representing the pokémon who killed it in court. it’s been on my mind a lot lately, and i think i’ve come to the conclusion that there must have been a revival blessing alongside a brainwashing and manipulation scandal that has flipped the script. this is very concerning and i hope great tusk can come around soon, before it’s too late.
Oh hello norkbork
At this point I'm starting to form a conspiracy that the Loyal 3 are getting some kind of boost in Indigo Disk, because besides the cool ability, they feel almost "incomplete" when it comes to their overall power level compared to their status.
I mean, some legendaries are just weak. It doesn’t have to be deeper than that.
@@UncalibratedAimbotregigigas moment
Yeah. Myth of momotaro, but we missing the dango in the myth
They do have a leader tho...
Yeah the lousy three are just normal pokemon that got boosted by their chains, we dont know their original species but originally they were quite weak and not very exceptional.
The Funky Hunkey Dunky Monkey will probably end up in UUBL. This thing seriously reminds me of an Alakazam that can badly poison while pivoting out of its threats with U-Turn. It will probably be strong as a scarfer on voltturn teams, but other than that it won’t be used much
I feel like with the Teal Mask they're trying to Undo the ridiculous powercreep from the Gen 9 dex and are failing miserably
You can’t undo it without doing some nerfs, otherwise the op Pokémon are just going to remain the top of the meta
There's no attempt, it's literally just a broken metagame and it's only a bit better if you play an official format.
It's going to look like Pokemon GO Battle League Meta at this point.
@@mrex666productions7vgc is definitely not doing any better atm with Chien Pao and Ogerpon
this is why i've been playing VGC and UU instead of the hellhole that is Gen 9 OU
Considering Fire type Ogrepon, I don't think they're trying to undo any powercreep. They just want to keep the focus on specific mons
Honestly I don't have high hopes for any of the trio but Okidogi looks fun. With Knock Off, Gunk Shot and Close Combat combined with Poison Chain it looks like a pain to switch into. Slap on Drain Punch for a recovery and a choice scarf / choice band / assault vest in the item slot and you have a very annoying wallbreaker on your hands.
Just a bit lacking in the speed department. Dogi really wishes he had access to Mach Punch.
Fezindipiti can spam Dazzling Gleam in doubles for STAB and fishing Toxic in one click.
You know the Meta game is out of whack when a 106 Base Speed Pokémon is being called slow.
If gengar and alakazam havent been in OU in the last few gens then this aint making it
Fezandipiti is my favourite of the trio but I don't particularly like it. I do like the mixed attacker concept though.
Future Sight + U-turn/parting shot is my favourite set right now. Pair it up with a strong physical attacker for the follow-up hit and you'll be golden
I appreciate that Munkodori can get the most milage out of Venoshock (and Hex to an extent) of any other Pokémon that exists because of how well its own ability spreads Poison. I'd consider running Scarf/Specs with Venoshock, Psychic/Psyshock, Focus Blast/Tera Blast (Fire? Electric?) and U-Turn/Trick. Not sure where you'd fit Hex in but it can't be ignored as an option.
I'm just happy that after getting shafted so many times, Poison types are finally getting legendaries like Eternatus and the Loyal Three.
Both Monkidori and Okidogi have a chance imo. The dog suprisingly just doen't want to die.
Also you missed a HUGE part of the Monki's move set: Parting Shot
This new legendary is certainly weird!
They all look like crash bandicoot villains
@@wentoneisendon6502 fr Oki has strong Koala Kong vibes
I feel like we need a special version of dragon dance and monkidori would abuse the hell out of it. Base 106 speed is good back in gen 6 but now it needs a boost in speed. Also this thing should have gotten aura sphere for coverage.
I'm glad there´s always new content so I can watch in the morning here in Brazil! Thanks man
Yesss another fellow brazillian!
Também tô aqui assistindo, com meu café kkkkkkkkkkk
It’s hard to say toxic chain is “strictly better” than poison touch as it will only do more damage on pokemon staying in for 3 turns or longer. I obviously see what you mean and I agree with the sentiment but just a little correction of verbiage (and that’s to say there are NO instances where you’d prefer toxic damage to do LESS to the enemy, and there are instances where you’d like an enemy to not die/not reach berry or torrent range, for instance). I’m obviously a little too in the weeds for the scope of that comment but I found it interesting nonetheless
it's more about putting them on a timer and forcing switches than the damage itself
@@cryptooooooooo I understand, and I agree that it’s better in most instances, but the fact that instances do technically exist where regular poison is better means the verbiage “strictly better” isn’t applicable
Honestly, I disagree with saying Munkidori is the only one with a shot at OU viability. Fezendipiti also happens to have a really solid defensive type being a fairy resistant/immune to poison type/status, has pretty solid bulk at 88/82/125, reliable recovery, and a plethora of multi hit moves to fish for Toxic procs. It also has amazing defensive synergy with Corviknight, since Corviknight walls all of Fezendipiti 's weaknesses, while Fezendipiti's special bulk let's it eat the (usually special) fire and electric moves directed at Corviknight. Plus if you ever just want to Tera to pure Fairy, it just makes Fezendipiti stronger both offensively and defensively due to already being part Fairy. Really the only things Fezendipiti lacks are Reflect for dual screens, and Defog, the latter of which could even potentially change in The Indigo Disk.
While it might be more team specific, I can see Fezendipiti becoming a very strong choice for defensive and stall teams.
monkey man thats poisonous, seems believable to me
0:18 Chi-Yu. Just when i saw it's one of the Pokémon that hit the hardest i couldn't believed. Also can't believe it's legendary
I've started using Munkidori in doubles ladder, and have had some success! It's dual stab is solid and with sludge wave its got a strong spread move that can toxic multiple Pokémon. Fake out is super useful of course, and with uturn to pivot, its been a great utility mon that is still does decent damage without boost. I run it with Life Orb to compensate for no nasty plotting, since it's bulk isn't great anyway.
With all the broken mons in the format, usually there is a "higher priority" than Munkidori, and I consistently get a few turns to fake out, pivot, and throw in more fake outs/stab around my other "more threatening" mons.
I would think in theory you could use Tera fighting Tera Blast over focus blast for better consistency, if you can afford committing your Tera to munkidori. I think it still could have chance with choice Scarf.
I honestly think okidogi has a better shot at OU viability since its bulk up set is pretty good in veil hyper offense
Munkidori is also my favorite of the three, and I remember looking up all the loyal three's stats and thinking they sucked and then I saw Munkidori's and thought they were actually good
Hearing "Thundurus Therian" and "UU" in the same sentence feels weird.
I can't keep up with these plot twists. Last I heard Iron Mugulus was in prison
Munkidoro Is ... a very strange one tbh
Okidogi looked easier to use but is has died in like ... 2 days?
3:14 fun fact i once terad fighting againist a +2 5 dead gambit ... he killed me as a fighting type
Okidogi has two major problems. The first being its speed tier putting it behind Great Tusk and Gholdengo, which is a significant problem when your STABs are checked by BOTH of them. The other is that competition with Sneasler is simply far too great; Sneasler is both a faster wallbreaker (who even has Poison Touch so you won't miss Toxic Chain much) and an easier setup sweeper thanks to Unburden.
There simply isn't enough reason to justify supporting Okidogi over other faster Fighting-types. Shit, _Infernape_ is probably more effective than Oki right now.
you HAVE to release a full lore video of the Jimothy Cool universe
To clarify, Frisk isnt COMPLETELY useless in VGC as the order of popups and ability triggers appear in the order of the pokemons' speed, so it gives information on speed tiers. Its not huge, arguably it doesnt matter at all, but its not nothing
Frisk does have a niche use in VGC as a way to tell if you’re fighting a Zoroark by seeing if a Pokémon’s item matches the team sheet. Still not good but not quite illuminate
The "I have ill intent" made me fucking lose it
I use scarf monkidori with sludge wave, psyshock, shadow ball, and u-turn.
I find shadow ball more consistent than the unreliable focus blast. It can destroy the everpresent ogerpon too. Still i find valiant and enamorus to work better generally, so long i have another pivoting mon, but lately I've been changing my cinderace for bulky kommo-o to deal with the mentioned ogerpon
"It's balanced, so it's not good enough for OU" this summarizes the big problem with gen 9 competitive Pokemon
I think other sets might develop. If Parting Shot can proc the Toxic chance it might be a better U-turn. You could also run Hex which naturally benefits from the Toxic chances, or even Venoshock given you don't want to proc normal poison if you can avoid it. Just needs some time.
I think Okidogi is surprisingly good. Its intimidate immunity and bulk up + drain punch combo could turn it into an impressive late game sweeper, and poison/fighting is a good offensive type combo alongside its decent coverage.
They really buckled down and spent an entire afternoon on these designs
Probably a RU MAYBE a UU pokemon at best. Just too kany Darks and Steels for Munkidori to deal with
What do you think about the potential for future sight on it? I think it'll see some use there, with good team support. Pretty tough to avoid a 2HKO when you're also getting slapped with a future sight with a 30% toxic chance on top of being stared down by an attack boosted great tusk
While my fav out of the three loyals is Okidogi, da monke seems to be going to be quite fun to use
Trying to decide if fire or fighting is better for mukidoris tera type. Fire lets it hit corviknight and ghoglendo, but fighting lets it hit heatran
I like saying Okidogi, but Munkidori is fun as well
been having a lot of fun so far with specs venoshock munki + toxic spikes, literally the perfect venoshock mon
Japan VGC doesn't do an open team system btw so Frisk in theory has a use.
Ive been using munkidori for support with fake out, parting shot, psychic, and light screen. Ifs been doing VERY well
"We have very cool and non-stupid names" …..ONE OF THEM IS LITERALLY CALLED OKI DOGI 😂
Imagine if game freak keeps the open sheet format for the next gens and rework friks to give hints about the ev training of the rival mons, something like "your pokemon can sense that the foe has trained its speed and health" with the text changing depending on some ev ranges
Need a whole iron mugulis lore compilation
I personally have enjoyed using Fezendipiti as a special defensive wall, with taunt and roost alongside u-turn
I think Tera Fighting Tera Blast is a better option on Dory than Focus Blast.
Frisk has fringe uses in doubles ladder, since ingame does not have ots, therefore can reveal some meme stuff
Frisk only use is on single player to steal items from wild mons
That monkey Dory picture got me like a left hook, bro you're too much 😂
I was honestly really excited about fezandipiti for Doubles, tried it after the DLC dropped with a combination of icy wind Dazzling gleam to have Speed Control and some spread moves to make use of Toxic Chains and it just felt so underwhelming. I think the Ability will definitely have more use in Singles than doubles since not only do games last longer which inherently increases the value of each individual toxic poison tick, but also the amount of turns that singles games accumulate are just statistically helping you with the 30% chance of actually triggering the ability. In doubles it just feels to unreliable to ever make work and play around which is a shame
Zooming in to reveal Rabsca made me exhale out out my nose for way too long
I think tera ice Okidogi threatens lando-t since it gets guard dog which makes intimidate works the opposite on it and it has access to ice punch
Many may find it shocking that Great Tusk has represented his greatest foe in the court of law, but I believe that Iron Mugulis has “put his thumb on the scale” so to speak.
While you definitely always prefer the immediate power of sludge bomb or wave, Funny Munki does have the only venoshock that can poison in the game if you like to gamble
That set of new legendaries is wierd. Their base stat total is low for legendaries; 555, which is same as Arcanine. Ogrepon is even lower at 550.
Because they aren't cover legendaries
I feel like i think munkidori would have gone crazy as a stallbreaker in gen 6. gen 9 is just too fast
An easy way to catch this Pokemon is to use the Bisharp line with false swipe.... you can put it at 1 hp while getting absolutely no damage... so you can just throw Pokeballs without worry....
"Frisk" seems primarily for quickly finding out if a wild Pokémon is worth catching or not because it has the item you're farming.
Worth it sometimes. Glad it exists on Pokémon with other better abilities
you know it is a good day when jim uploads
1:58 ha just wait until a Worlds Final is determined by using Frisk to tell which pokemon is a Zoroark
"Relying on focus blast" is an oxymoron
That weezer edit was a thing of beauty
I really think not having aura sphere sucks for this pokémon, a lot of special attackers wish they had that move, but being a legendary “monk” I could see them actually giving it to this pokémon and it would help a lot since it doesn’t really need the extra power of focus blast with its high special attack. Pokémon like King Gambit and Meowscarada would still be OHKOed I’m pretty sure.
I would say okidogi is even weirder, as I think its got potential to become a good pick for bulky offense even if its not gonna be OU initially.
With what okidogi can do its gonna be fun to watch it get optimized
Honestly it bothers me that this trio doesn't have a 580-600BST like every other trio there is...I feel like the extra 30-50 in stats would really help these 3. Allowing a bit of extra bulk for the monke and yogi or a bit more of an offensive presence on the special side for the bird would really help.
Rabasca is probably gonna use revival blessing on Mugulis's fallen comarades.
Frisk is only useful on Draft. But it's actually really good there.
I'm glad they added Mojo Jojo to pokemon.
Would love to hear you talk about infernape
This was an amazing breakdown of the new monke
Honestly dude... toxic chain scarf uturn might be what gives this monkey a niche
6:00 I can't see Jimothy ever beating the Weezer allegations after this one...
I'm Weezer.
What is Rabsca's involvement with the prosecution in Chugulis v Mugulis? Find out next time on JimmyCool Gaming
Poor Munkidori - all but guaranteed to fail in the face of the king of Gen 9 OU even as it premieres.
The munki got different
Fezandipiti rolls Worst BST Ever, asked to leave OU
Ngl frisk exeggutor has saved me from getting cleaned up by choice scarf pokemon plenty of times
you should make a video on surskit, it's very viable competitively and not just my favourite pokemon
Jim, what is your opinion on Bronzong as a special wall in Gen 9 OU? It’s quite good into the likes of Enamorus and Munkidori
I could see him in UUBL cause a uturn with 30% to toxic is kinda nutz
Tera blast fighting OHKO's bulky swords dance Gambit without special attack investment.
Rabscas going back in time to get psychic type unerfed from gen 1
good luck to mini mojojojo
Rabsca is innocent! His future form, Iron Bugulis is the real guilty party!
Rabsca wants to convince Game Freak to give Lando-T Huge Power as an ability
Frisk isn't a bad ability, it's just rarely if ever the better ability something has
Knowing the opponent's item is never a bad thing
Also it does nothing _in person_ in VGC. 99% of us can still use it since we're playing doubles on the ladder
We are finally at the point of power creep where 106 base speed is considered just "decent" and "a bit slow for the meta"
okay so, basically, he's monke.
