      I'm willing to wait for a while to ensure the story (and how mutants are inevitably explained into the MCU) is properly prepared. Kamala & 838 Xavier were great sneak peaks towards what is to come. But Kamala possibly being a mutant brings into question "are they already in the MCU, just dormant?" That's not a bad thing or anything, but it goes against many of the theories surrounding how the MCU will introduce mutants.

    Doing the phoenix saga straight away is the same mistake they already made, it needs to be earned we need to be super familiar with Jean and the team before this happens. It could be in the next phase. There are already so many great stories in the X-Men canon, no need to rush. I agree that they could make the mutant stuff a whole phase but through a series of movies and TV shows.

      I agree. Phase 7 should be based around more street-level villains like Mystique, Juggernaut, and the Brotherhood, then do more powerful villains like Magneto and Mister Sinister for Phase 8, THEN in Phase 9 you can go all out with Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Really hoping we finally get a good live action movie with those two.
      Though I do hope if Kang appears as Rama-Tut that they plant the seeds for Apocalypse since Kang is actually central to Apocalypse's backstory in the comics.

    How about if we're doing the Dark Phoenix we focus on the REAL reason the Phoenix went mad in that comic; because throughout there attempts Fox has only done ONE thing, Point and Yell "She Powerful, Thats COOL!", when the real compelling story is the fact that it wasnt Jean that went mad with power, but the Phoenix was corrupted by Jeans emotions, it hadnt experienced Joy and Rage before her and it wanted to experience these feelings.

    The problem I’ve always had with Fox trying to do the Dark Phoenix saga is they try to rush it all into one film. That needs to be built up. The other issue is that Jean Grey in those films is not likable. They need to make Jean on the stasis of Wanda where mostly everyone loves her. Though unlike Multiverse of Madness take time in corrupting Jean through various projects.

      Dark Phoenix was originally two 3 hour movies. The first movie was made and due to be released but then all of a sudden it kept getting delayed and going through reshoots! This was because Disney had begun to try and buy fox behind the scenes and forced FOX to condense it down to a single movie and delay it till after the Captain Marvel movie had been released! This was because they wanted CM to be the first female led movie! Disney sabotaged the Dark Phoenix movie!

    Totally agree with you that a "Dark Phoenix Saga" is utterly empty without a Heroic Phoenix Saga to *prove* that this kind of power *can* be used for good, which both deepens the tragedy of Jean's demise -- and yet, since this timeline has completely jumped off the rails, might also allow for a satisfying subversion that allows Jean to live in symbiosis with the Phoenix, and not succumb to the doom of her other variants. I mean, we've seen this story so many times before - why not challenge this "predetermined story arc" when the Sacred Timeline's already been shattered to bits?

    I think the hardest part of X-Men is there is enough content for their own version of the MCU. So if we are talking fan fiction and fan wish fulfillment, I want them to have their own Cinematic Universe in a way.
    Basically Marvel would have to double their movie output and give half their TV shows to Mutants. Then connect the two movie series occasionally. So you don't have to watch both movie series to follow the entire marvel universe unless you want to. There would still be big X-Men vs Avengers type of cross overs, but they wouldn't be dependent on knowledge from previous movies, just references. Like how the first two Avengers movies didn't require you to have watched any of the previous movies, it just helps

      Those stories are pretty much self contained. There are small things, like Cap's history with the tesseract in Avengers 1, but that isn't really relevant to the plot. In Age of Ultron you might wonder where Shield is, but beyond that everything else was self contained.

    I like this, this would be an awesome Mutant Saga. The only thing I would change is the inclusion of eternals and midnight sons, maybe even hints of inhumans. I would really like more eternals to be included in the mcu and see mutants as a threat or a devient gene. Forcing them to take action, especially with Jean hosting the phoenix force. This then will create three fractions, mutants vs avengers vs eternals. And maybe midnight sons. All these fraction will have there one agendas and purpose, creating another civil war. Once the mutants saga comes to an end, inhumans can them come out of the shadows and calming to be a better evolution of mutants. Perhaps created my celestials

    I love that you want to focus more on Cyclops. He has been one of my favorite X-Men for a long time and you are right: Fox just doesn't do him justice. He's defeated the Purifiers, Norman Osborne, Bastion, an Invasion of Skrulls, The Sapien League and others through superior tactics and leadership. Per Fury, the less time Scott has to make a decision, the more correct that decision is. This makes him one of the best leaders in Marvel. Do I need to mention that he is irresistible to telepaths? They can't stay away from him.

My only gotcha in all of this is whether or not non-comic MCU fans are ready to see another red head female played as the villain? • @yca76
    @yca76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I usually agree but I don't think this is based at all. The X-men franchise is popular because of the character building. They can't just make a crossover that makes them and then launch into Phoenix Saga. The 2nd attempt at the saga failed because the audience just doesn't have a relationship with the young first class cast and literally didn't care about the characters or the stakes. They can't do Phoenix sagas until they build the X-men up and make the audience fall in love with them. Anything less and the audience won't feel the growth or the value of the sacrifice and so on.
    Your take here is just another Fox-esque Mutant Who's Who trying to show as many mutants as you can and no one is getting their screen time. You're skipping over 30-40 years of character building and going right to Cable and Age of Apocalypse when the franchise hasn't earned the interest or love of the audience.
    The X-men is inherently long form. They need to start with a Disney+ series (at least 10 episodes) with the first season and maybe the 2nd season even dedicated exclusively to the *first class* and building up the rogues gallery. Some of these characters can popup in crossovers in other movies between season 1 and 2. 2nd season can add the 2nd class. Keep building up these new characters. Season 3 needs to end with the Phoenix Saga and then cover season 4 by continuing to explore the large cast and Phoenix's new abilities etc. Season 4 would lead into a Dark Phoenix crossover movie. After that they can start exploring 90s and 2000s mutants in season 5 and 6 laying the groundwork to Age of Apocalypse movie.

    Pitching the Dark Phoenix story again is lazy. Magic is big in the MCU now, why not a proper Majik storyline? Add in Nightcrawler's family & the MCU magic users and have an interdimensional conflict. Maybe the other dimensions are tired of the MCU almost destroying existence every few years. There would be enough characters who can travel dimensions to take the battle to Belasco, Mephisto, Nightmare, etc. All the Ghost Riders & the Midnight Sons could be brought in.

Hel, the coolest his character got was in the Age of Apocalypse story line. I would also LOVE to see the AoA storyline done right. Give me Nate Grey.

    I would like a Phoenix Saga, but they really need to develop the X-Men team before attempting it. It's a bad idea to start off with it. Jean will come off like a total Mary-Sue and many of the most important X-Men characters like Cyclops and Storm will get overshadowed.

    I think characters can be redeemed in cameos as we saw in no way home. Electro was a redeemed character in that movie. I don’t think we need a whole movie or saga to redeem, with good writing, a cameo should suffice.

    The only thing missing that might come into play in the MCU version is that House of M moment: would, instead, that Phase 8 ended with "No More Mutants" and then Phase 9 becomes the path by which they return?
    The MCU has put a HUGE amount of power into Wanda, and while the fans (and the nature of movies) may lead to a reconciliation arc...the comics almost never work that way with her.

    I kind of hate the idea of a Mutants saga. It implies that the Avengers characters stories will take a backseat during the Saga, and if that's true, count me out. The X-Men should exist alongside the Avengers and the rest of the MCU, not take their place

    So what actually happen to the other established characters, they would be sidelined, for the mutants. For what I would like is for the multiverse saga would end in a way such that the current MCU universe would be destroyed and so many other universe would too the Dr strange would combine the remains of the other universea to create the ultimate universe and that saga would be called the cosmic saga with Galactus as the big bad, yeah mutants would have their own special story in that saga bur it must all connect in a way that the fantastic four, the avengers and the mutants would be important in their special way, that could top everything marvel would have done by then

    • @slack__
      @slack__ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dude swap dr strange for dr doom in your second sentence and that's literally the secret wars/battleworld storyline. bits of each universe salvaged together after the incursions and doom becomes god emperor doom ruling over all

    So the hardest thing for a successful franchise to do is to leave its past behind. Phase 4 and 5 have struggled to let go of 1 through 3. By and large, the mutant stories of the comic books did not involve a lot of interaction with the Avengers meta-story. But when you introduce time travel and multiverses, all bets are off. If the universe is "re-ordered" by the end of 6, that's a good time to segue into a new Mutants story. And every day that passes is a day of getting separation from old movies made by other studios.

  • @andrewshandle
    @andrewshandle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is a bit to overpowered for the MCU, but even if they do it, unless they make people prejudicial against _all_ heroes, it just doesn't work. I love the X-men comics (or did when I was a kid), and the stories needed telling from a cultural perspective, but the X-men from the comics doesn't work in a shared universe with Dr. Strange, The Fantastic Four, Spider-man and the Avengers. The MCU has an Avengers musical and conventions dedicate to literal hero worship, that same world isn't going to have the masses rising up and slaughtering mutants. It just doesn't work.

    • @PoniesNSunshine
      @PoniesNSunshine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the early comics, while there was definite worship of the Avengers and FF, the X-Men were considered terrorists because of their association with Magneto. The US Government would only contact them as a last resort. And it feels like the shows are already highlighting the unsteadiness of public support, where the public might change their opinion of a hero very quickly (as in Spider-Man's case )

    • @andrewshandle
      @andrewshandle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoniesNSunshine It's more that in the same city where humans are holding rallies to lock up all Mutants they were cool with Johnny Storm flying around the city while on fire, or Ben Grimm being a big hunk of rock.
      There's just a fundamental disconnect between how the general populous treated different heroes that they even lampshaded the first Avengers v. XMen story line when Scott called out Captain Ameriica on the fact he never publicly defends mutants and only helps them when he needs something.
      From a story telling perspective, I 100% get it, the stories they are trying to tell in the Avengers are different than those in the X-Men but as a result they feel like they are in a different Universe, yet at the same time they want to move characters back and forth like Beast and Wolverine's stints in the Avengers or they want to do cross overs like the current A.X.E. Judgement Day storyline.
      Comic nerds like us already know this stuff, so we just accept it, but the MCU appeals to orders of magnitude more people so there needs to be a logical thread between the movies or people just won't get it. You can't have Smart Hulk giving autographs to kids in a diner, but Colossus is feared because he's a mutant. People can't be cool with Dr. Strange or Captain Marvel supreme power but fear someone like Angel, it just doesn't work.

    Would like to see Xmen stories that havent been told yet in the movies..ideally would like them to start with Shi'ar Empire (connecting Cosmic characters), then get into a story line with Mojo and then back on earth with a Savage land storyline. The cross over event at the end could be the Phoenix saga...and finally Avengers vs Xmen.

    I'm not sure how the "mutants are hated and feared" angle will play in the MCU movies, because those very movies have shown no particular "man on the street" reactions to super powered people. Or they HAVE shown things like statues erected in their honor, or Ms Marvel being embraced by her town, stuff like that. Yes, they had the Sokovia Accords, but that seemed mostly about world governments wanting to use and control them as weapons, more than it was discrimination of humans in general against superhumans in general.

    The ONE thing I agree with in this vid is the treatment of Cyclops. Scott is the Steve Rogers/Captain America of the X-Men, the MCU CAN NOT make the same mistake Fox did, putting Wolverine front and centre, Scott needs to be the focal point of the X-Men. In the comics, he's marvel's greatest tactician and strategist, better than Doom, Magneto, Prof. X, Steve, Reed, Tony and T'Challa. Even Nick Fury called him the most dangerous tactician alive, he's basically Marvel's Batman. He has saved mutantkind from extinction 3 fricking times, he is just criminally underrated man, the MCU MUST Do Him Justice!
    Also, at some point in this whole thing when it gets REAL BAD for Mutants, Scott needs to assemble X-Force to hunt down mutant enemies and threats like he does in the comics, showing that dark side he has that's willing to do what's necessary when the time comes.
