I love it. I've never made the bread with yeast in it. I carry a tobacco tin around with flour a little salt, and a little sugar mixed in with it. And all I have to do is add a little bit of water in the very center and start stirring it. You just add a little bit of water at a time until you get the bread bulb the size you want. And the rest of the flower stays pretty dry, and all you have to do is take the ball out put the lid back on the can and use it next time. Flatten it out and either bake it or put it on a stick and you've got some pretty good bread. I imagine your yeast bread is a lot better.

Actually in the span am war the troops carried the 1874 kit which was the same style as a 1910 but a shade smaller

Glad you think so! I was pretty happy with this one. It went under 3 or 4 edits and there was a ton cut out to keep the flow moving...probably about 10 minutes worth. I am glad my channel is not exclusively a cooking channel, it is a whole other ball game :)

I enjoy Dutch oven cooking but usually prefer to do it at home in my back yard due to the weight and cleanup. I even use a large Dutch oven pot to cook my stews and chili in at home because I think it imparts an unmatched hearty flavor to them.

Looks great! How long do you let it proof for?

This one took about 45 minutes but it could have used longer to double in size and make it more fluffy and not as dense. Time was against me though. The dough balls only got to be 1.5 times its original size.

I actually enjoy ash bread because of the crunchy crust it makes. Brush it off and if nothing else dip it in your cocoa or coffee if it needs softened a bit. Thanks!
