    Brilliant and realistic. Kevin simulates real situations unlike other martial arts teachers. Well done, Kevin.

    I love that quote there is no guarantee in a fight I hear so many people say oh that would never work in MMA . First of all it’s self defense not MMA that’s why you train in many different ways of attacks so you can be ready for your opponent when he switches up you ca adapt.

    Sometimes..Sometimes Not.. Like everything. Yes throwing the first punch when they break distance is helps, especially if they are mouth running as well.

    Nice. Use that phone on the follow up if need be. Downward strike center of face. Seriously damage a nose, very little risk of mortal injury, hand is still good.

    A good point is you began by trying to move back, and he pursued you aggressively: this helps with your SD claim if it ends up in court.

    Sifu Kevin, so your step back keeps your lead foot forward, rear foot push off with straight punch. Loaded rear foot push off like a JKD Straight punch. 🌺👊 Thanks much.

    I saw one You Tube self-defense video where the martial arts instructor advised the common layman to rely on primarily three, strikes, the edge of hand, the palm strike, and the hammer punch for essential, basic self-defense. Of course other self-defense counselors like Kevin will advise adding a few more useful, easy-to-use strikes like the elbow, knee, low kick, and head butt.

    Love all your videos. That looks like a JKD straight lead, instead of a boxer's rear hand strike. That would probably work great for a guy your size. I am a smallish guy and need to throw a right hand from the back position and get my hips and body weight into it. The straight lead is great for a non-telegraphic shot.

    IMHO, a palm to the face while lunging forward with the striking hand will do more to stun the attacker, while saving your hand and knuckles from breaking. It's basically a lunge punch, but with the palm.

  • @tln8424
    @tln8424 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Is this considered a self defensive strike if the other person is moving forward in an aggressive manner?

    • @Selfdefensegoat
      @Selfdefensegoat  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Lots of factors come into play. A verbal deescalation was attempted and the attacker
      kept moving forward when told to stay away. You should do well in court especially if there’s video.

    You have a vast misunderstanding of the law of self defense. You should always hit first in an aggressive situation. That is true but you WILL NEVER win the court case and if you knock them out and they claim an injury from it, you are being charged with felony assault resulting in bodily harm. If you had any chance to run away, by law, you can't claim self defense. I know because I'm on a 5 year deferred felony from this sam3 situation

    I liked your video, if you’re a martial arts teacher good, if you’re teaching self defense when something happens in the street that’s better. Like that you will get more followers because you’re making martial arts look more realistic. I also had a teacher like that, that he used to teach martial arts and self defense when street fights happened. One thing is just got to be careful not to leave the opponent any bruise or blood in the face because there is a lot of pussies today that grab their cell phones and call the cops.

  • @roberthill4556
    @roberthill4556 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You just elevated the situation to one of battery on your part. Hope you have a good lawyer. This is why martial arts are taught incorrectly. The first thing a new student should be taught is defense. Learn how to avoid a physical attack so you don't end up in jail. After your attacker throws the first punch or kick then you're free to defend yourself. Remember, the courts take a dim view of martial artists so your defense is not just for your assailant but also the legal system.

    New subscriber here. I've watched a handful of your vids(mostly shorts), and I really like what I see. Looking through your video archive, I haven't seen a rear naked choke defense, yet. Have I missed it, or is that upcoming? Thank you for your channel and your hard work. I look forward to working through your videos, and training my children how to effectively defend themselves. Keep up the good work!!

Look at Street Beefs .A place where untrained fighters meet. See how much punishment an average guy can take.you will be surprised.

      In reality fights they start with words and bad actions, NOT when a person is trying to defend himself. That’s why shit talkers, thieves, rapist, sexual harassers, bullies, always win in court. Thanks to that stupid idea the law it’s corrupt!
