    I hate how a lot of
    New vacuums have mops. I don’t want a mop but the newer versions seem to always have one.

    If anything, I think this test shows you what you shouldn’t do with a new map or using your Roborock for the first time. I set the suction on the lowest, or “quiet” setting when mapping for the first time. This will assure your battery doesn’t drain before it’s done and your dust bin doesn’t over fill. Thanks so much for all you do. I bought the S4 Max based on your videos and absolutely love it.

    I have that exact one and have not had a problem like you had. I think you needed to pick up some of the debris along with cords. I hope your missteps do not discourage someone. I’ve had mine for 5 months and absolutely love it!

    Great video. Good to see a real life example and not just a lab example or reading off the manufacturer's web page. I just got mine and about to try it now. No dogs or long hair or carpet so hopefully won't have issues.

    hmm yeah that was kinda a hard stress test, i would be curious how the S7 plus compares in this exact case or putting on this Q5 the rubber roller since a lot of people are wondering which roller would work better on carpet. In the sense of is the brush roller stalling the robot or not? Is the rubber roller better with hair tangles but worse on carpet deep cleaning?

  • @Grace-kh8xe
    @Grace-kh8xe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Impressive cleaning effect on carpets!! What is the suction level for working on your carpet?

  • @hansielategan969

    This reminds me of the issues I had with the Viomi. The right angle at the top clogged up all the time. In my case the doghair and fibers seemed to make a ball and clog up. Since I had the J7, no ore issues as the J7 suction tunnel does not have right angles. The Viomi now runs in the flat where there are not so many dogs, and the issues are gone. The combination of hair and carpet fibers/dust seems to be an issue for sharp angles.

      have you actually tried splitting in 2 or 3 sections of the house to make it return for emptying the dust bin and then continuing? i think that would be an easy workaround

  • @mikearrigo5674

    It does appear that the Q5 may take the place of the S4 max in Roborock's line up as the Lidar bot without a mop. The S4 max is no longer showing on Roborock's store page. This actually makes sense, the Q5 has more power, it supports an auto empty dock and it also provides 3D mapping and quick mapping.

  • @Lwhosane
    @Lwhosane ปีที่แล้ว

    Question, some of the vac/mop combo have advertised auction 5000+. Is that suction power with the vacuum alone or is that only with the mop? How can they claim to have something that high? I feel like it’s not with the vacuum portion of it.

  • @alchemanluo51
    @alchemanluo51 ปีที่แล้ว

    Though the model Q5+ is not the flag ship robot of Roborock, I, personally, think it is really cost-effective. It has greater suction power than some of the previous models. More importantly, it can work with the auto-empty dock pure. That's really good. 😁

    My years of experience with robot vacs, I’m still favorably impressed by how this mid-level vac performed. How many other tests has anyone run on such heavy mess after the acknowledged MONTHS of no care? I’ve bought self-emptying vacs that I returned in a few days because it never could empty on a moderately clean room. I have 2 long haired dogs (2 Golden Retrievers) and live in rural environment so don’t a simple situation to keep clean.

    In this case I would unplug the dock and power off the robot, then turn the robot back on and plug in the dock, it's possible the clog caused an error condition that turning everything off and back on might have cleared.
    It sounds like the Q5 cleans really well and it's interesting to compare the Q series specs with the specs of Roborock's S series. In the S series, the robot that doesn't have the mop is the S4 Max which I have, it's a great bot for sure. I can't help but wonder if Roborock is planning on discontinuing some of the older bots in the S series. If you look at the specs on the Q5, they are somewhat better than the S4 Max and the Q5 is slightly more expensive. It has a few things that the S4 Max does not have, it's slightly more powerful, it supports an auto empty dock and it has the quick mapping feature. From what I can tell there is nothing that the S4 Max has that the Q5 does not have which makes me wonder if Roborock will discontinue the S4 Max.
    Based on the specs for the Q7, it sounds similar to what the S5 and S6 were although the Q7 is slightly more powerful and also has the mop feature which I think is gravity fed rather than electronicly controlled. Also the Q7 supports an auto empty dock which the S5 and S6 don't support.
    The Q7 max sounds like an upgraded S5 Max, it has much more power and an electronicly controlled water tank for the mop and also supports an auto empty dock. Again, I don't see anything that the S5 Max has that the Q7 Max does not. Even though the Q series is supposed to be Roborock's mid range models, the specs are better in some ways than the older S series bots which again makes me wonder if Roborock will discontinue these. If they did, you would then have the Q5 for the bot without the mop feature, the Q7 for a robot with vacuuming and basic mopping, the Q7 max for more power and an electronicly controlled water tank, the s7 that has the vibrating mop and the autolift feature for the mop, and finally the S7 Max V that has all the bells and whistles.

      this is a extreme way to get it to empty
      Power off the robot
      Unplug it
      Plug the robot back in
      Run a factory reset
      Connect with Wi-Fi
      Try to self empty again
      It would be better if it just finishes the self empty and tries it until it fully gets everything out instead of giving up

    • @xeon2k8
      @xeon2k8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calebpromusician98 why would you go through all that trouble if you can just wait for a while to run the emptying again. Also about your last sentence, how do you think the robot "knows" it is empty?

  • @rlg1976x
    @rlg1976x 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think this is where iRobot's dust bin sensors put it at an advantage to any other self empty robot vac since a Roomba would've emptied sooner and possibly avoided clogging.

    Can't really blame the dock here, these docks were never meant to clean out a good week of dust and hair at once.
    Anyway the Q5 seem really weird, the bristles will surely be hanging on to dust from both direction leaving you to clean it just as often like the older bristle robots. how has it held up?

    Roborocks are cool, but Roombas have the drop on them, with their 'bin empty' feature. 1st time I used my J7+, it went back to it's base several times (there's a wool rug in my dining room that sheds pretty badly) to empty contents. I've NEVER had an issue with the bin empty procedure, probably because that loud, high pitch sound it makes.... is absolutely necessary for a thorough emptying!

    • @jasonriccoboni5931
      @jasonriccoboni5931 ปีที่แล้ว

      They may have the better emptying system and that's a strong emphasis on "may", but their mapping is garbage. Camera for navigation? Way too antiquated when compared to LiDAR. iRobot needs to start incorporating this tech into their vacuums, then they would be at the forefront again. Until then, companies like Roborock and Ecovacs have it all over iRobot.

It's incomprehensibly repetitive and includes frequent long stretches of boredom. (I watched another of your robot vacuum videos earlier today, and it was fine and helpful.)

    IMO, if the robot can suck it up, the dock should be able to clear it out no matter what....and in your test it didn't. It's also erroring out. Priced at 6 to 7 hundred bucks with the old style brush and no mop..... I'd say this is a major fail. Especially with comparable units by Lydsto and Dreame which are also Xiaomi companies coming in at 3 and 4 hundred respectively there's no way I'm buying this thing.

    • @xeon2k8
      @xeon2k8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The robot is sucking it up bit by bit in a span of 70 minutes time. The dock has to suck it up ALL of it at once, that's the difference and why it clogged up. But yeah i agree it's too expensive.
