Your videos are always very informative and interesting. I found on Amazon a bag of Angelina fibers that work well to add UV along with other color dubbings. Making your own custom dubbings is the way to go!!!
I just mixed up a batch to use on a BWO pattern you put out recently. It looks great! Thanks again. PS - I used a coffee bean grinder to mix the dubbing.
Glad you like it. I am pretty confident it will become one of your favourite dubbings 😀🍺 I also bought some cheap grinder. It makes life easier. Last night my wife used it in the kitchen 😂😂😂
I can’t deny that, with all the dubbing I know you use, you don’t have a coffee grinder! lol. Anyway it’s good, as you said, to use fingers and feel the process taking shape. And the fly at the end..... excellent little bug. Thank you for another upload dude.
I can add only my voice to the chorus of compliments. Excellent and informative video. I've ordered rabbit feet among other things to tie up your flies. Troutline ( from Romania ) has rabbit dubbing with UV mixed in and I have been tying flies with that. I have a squirrel pelt and will make my own dubbing mix using your instructions. By the way, The Feather Mechanic book arrived today so I'll be reading that in the coming days. Once again, thanks for the tip on that book.
Thank you for your kind words. Glad video was useful for you too 🍺🍺 Rabbit, Squirrel both are absolutely amazing materials. Please let me know your thoughts on the book once you read it. Cheers Vladimir 😀😀🍺
Thank you so much, Cdc is definitively great spice to the dubbing, especially if you dubb it loosely and comb out or in a loop.... When dubbed tightly it "disappears"
@@Oholisfliesandfishing I mixed up my own version tonight with natural pine squirrel, natural cdc, and uv brown ice dubbing which works very well here for me.
thank you so much. Can you please tell me what is tipo de exubia, i couldnt translate it well. You can send photo to my email oholidzo@yahoo.com Cheers :)
Valdimire, thank you for the videos they give me new ideas and insights.I watch videos from many US fly tyers as well as European tyers for their ideas and techniques. It seems no one person has a monopoly on all the great ideas. I am an experienced fly tyer from the southern foothills of the Pocono Mts. in eastern Pennsylvania in the US. I fish medium size streams 1-2 ft. deep and about 10m wide in farmlands which border on woodlands You mention Serbia in your video. Out of curiosity Is this where you live and normally fish? My knowledge of of Serbia is limited. What type/size streams or rivers do you fish? And where you live in Serbia what type of terrain is it? I hope these questions are not intrusive, but I appreciate any information you may share. Thanks again for the videos. Tie one on!
Thank you so much. Yes, we all have some distinctive feature when tying. Call it a style i guess. 😃😃 Its probably influenced by materials available and people around us. I lived in serbia untill 2016, than i moved to china. China has some resources.. Amazing ones as well.... But not many and far from cities... Serbia is small, has different rivers some are plain, warm waters some mountain streams..... Depending on the river.... U get trout, grayling, hucho... Catfish-wells, pike, zander.... Unfortunately people are not aware of preserving resources so most fisherman will fish and take all they can catch... My favourite rivers in serbia and montenegro if you want to google them are: gradac, visocica, djetinja, zeta, mrtvica, tara.... These are rivers i liked to fish the most I lived in belgrade half of my life... But i grew up in a smaller town... Dont worry, all questions are fine 😃😃
Hi again. I've ordered some squirrel skin to make my own blends--inspired by your video. I think you've used a beard trimmer in this video to remove the fur. Was there anything special about that trimmer? I was thinking of ordering this one: Phillips Norelco Series 3000 BT3210/41which has cutting length settings from 0.5 mm to 10 mm. Any thoughts or advice in this regard? Thanks.
Hi Oholi, when you shave the squirrel pelt do you prefer one area of the squirrel to another or should one shave the entire squirrel and then mix it together.
This is my first skin... And so far apart from head part I wouldn't say anything is different.... Only colour, that side reddish part is a bit softer, so i assume its belly part... Head part is shorter and thats all. I love this skin a lot. Makes amazing universal dubbing for my needs
@@splishsplash2579 thanks, i wouldnt know much about squirrels... I see them as jumpy fluffy animals that climb trees 😂😂 but this info is good for buying next one. Thanks a lot 😃😃
Thank you for another very nice video. What would be the second best option if someone does not have squirrel at the moment? Would rabbit work decently?
Hello... Sorry for my very late response. I missed your comment somehow. Thank you so much. And for substitute, rabbit is ok. I would use it for larger flies. Squirrel is softer so better for smaller ones. But, if u have rabbit use it. Thats what i was using untill i got squirrel

Ah, the magic dubbing mix! Keep talking.. I like your hints and experiences-food for thought. :-)
Thank you so much. Yes. Its kinda magic for me.... Or i am just lazy to use another one 😂😂 either way i get a fish or two 😉
If you dont have a coffee grinder try a regular kitchen blender. Works well, just rinse the blender with water when done.
Thats an awesome idea. Makes a lot of sense. 😃😃 Thank you 🙏
I can only do Starbucks in China

Custom dubbing makes even deeper bond with fly.. I am always trying to make more materials on my own. Satisfaction is greater that way i think
As per usual very interesting, Thanks for taking the time , much appreciated cheers, stay safe
