Thank you so much. CDC is my choice whenever i have difficult fish, slow water... its great for delicate stuff. Snowshoe is way better for broken water that i like...and biggest advantages are buoyancy and...the best part...it doesnt get slimy after fish as much as cdc. Not sure where....but in one of my fishing videos from asia i explained how i "clean"cdc after fish...with paper tissue....budget option..but it works 100% great
Very good video quality. As for that mayfly, it looked fantastic. I'm thinking of using that snowshoe material instead of deer hair when tying PMD Sparkle Duns.
A very clear and instructive video. I use a roll cast to fish in narrow tree-lined rivers.. I find buoyancy is very important for a fly in this situation because false casting to dry a fly is often not possible. Therefore I use snowshoe to tie flies for this type of situation.
Can the hair be trimmed, or will it affect its buoyancy? Thanks for the videos. I like using snowshoe hair but I didn't even imagine all the uses you have shown.
@@williambyington4864 glad you like vids. I doubt trimming tips would affect buoyancy. Only if you use it as hackle it may. Because tips may pierce water film more easily. But, that said...i wouldn't trim tips because i like tapered look they give when tied in. 🍻
Great ties as usual. I'll try the snowshoe for the wings next time. I usually dub the body with it with a widows web (polypropylene) wing and caddis style head, your example looks great and I'll try for the mayfly look.
@@Oholisfliesandfishing it's made by Montana Fly Company but you can find it by other suppliers. The MFC product come in large hanks so I like to get several shades like white, tan, brown cream and mix them. Don't know if it is exported but sure you can find something similar in Europe.
I like Snowshoe because it needs almost no care after a catch, unlike CDC... usually i cut the Foot in two parts between the two Bones with a old Knife, so its easier to use.
Same here..... I give an edge to cdc on calm, slow and flat water.... Where fish are picky.... Nice idea about splitting the bone 👍👍👍 i cut side hairs to make bottom hairs more accessible
Yeah, the little one's thinking: "Ok, I'll let him tie those two, but next time he splits the 12/0 thread to dub or wind CDC fibers, I'll give him hell the same second!" Nice ties! Cheers!
Nice flies Vladimir, snowshoe is one of my favorite materials. Stays boyant forever. I'm definitely giving these a go. Also your baby boy is a cutie and listens very well to the tying instructions. LoL!!! What's his name? Is that video take with the new camera? If so it looks good! C ya buddy!!!

Thank you very much.. I was concerned how the baby will affect my tying.... After he came.... I dont think I care anymore.... But i will give my best to keep videos coming... Hopefully he will start tying later.... (i will have to wait for that i know 😀😀)
Very good patterns, but those PLA wings have a lot of fade or undercoat. pulling the hair with the fingers is almost clean of undercoat and floats better.
Thanks.. I pulled out the finest one. I find it best to use middle portion.. Without finest-underfur and guard hairs.. For smaller flies i use underfur often and for big ones i use the hair around toes on this foot, the strongest hair... It works fine for me. Do you do the same?
Great video I've been waiting for so long for somebody to show how to use snowshoe hare .
Thanks. I made i think 3 videos with tips and several with flies utilising it. Last one is hackle Without Hackle
Cheers 🙏🙏😀
@@Oholisfliesandfishing thanks so much for sharing you're videos and flytying they are brilliant I really have learned a lot hi I Ireland

Excellent.. I’m on west branch Delaware river and I’m just starting to use snow shoe . Thanks for the steps for Caddis ,I will use.👍
For faster waters its perfect. Change wing color to make it visible in different light conditions 🙏
Great video quality! And the Mayfly is sublime! So much 'better' than a CdC wing!

But what to do with bags of cdc .. lol ..I’m sure can be used for motion

Thanks so much. Much easier to tie, more durable, more buoyant.... Whats not to like 😉🥃
More great tips for us mere mortals. Thank you for sharing again dude.
I am mortal too mate 😀😀
Trust me.... Anyone can do this.... 😉

Same here, very often i use roll.... So i need something with low maintenance... Snowshoe and foam flies are easiest
You make it seem so easy.
It is. Just some practice 😀🍻
Good looking flies that I'm sure will do the job
Thanks for sharing

Thanks a lot buddy. I am glad to see how much you improved this year... You are an amazing tier now... 😉

Great lesson Vladimir. Would you use the same split wing tie in technique if you were tying BWO's size 20-22 ? thank you !
Usually i wont do it. No need to make things complicated with small flies
You dress some lovely flies.

these fish as well as anything on smooth water too, just use fewer fibers.
That is for sure. 🍺🍺
Try this;take the snowshoe in your hand grab a toe and pull on it to separate the toe from the whole foot, and watch the result!
I will do that. It will be bit difficult since toes are tight together.
Ps;sorry for the late reply 🍺🍺
