2030matrix: I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with you 💯 per cent. STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL WOMAN. With a .... STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL VOICE. I also love the little bit a repore between Petula and Jack after the two Brilliant songs.
A legendary Icon of the 1960's! Her hair, dress and style! She still sings great and was always so fantastic to watch her perform. And nice to see Jack Benny hosting The Hollywood Palace. :)
Michael G Moore:WHAT YOU HAVE SAID in your comments about the very talented Petula Clark CBE is TOTALLY 💯 per cent SPOT ON. I AGREE with absolutely everything that you have said. Unmatched beauty is a phenomenal way to describe Petula's EXQUISITE beauty. Very well said. Well done as a lifelong fan of Petula's I have to 💯 per cent TOTALLY agree with you. Thank you again Michael.
Absolutely stunning and without the frivolous background dancers-distractions one finds these days. Just sheer talent and beauty. Thank you. Even more mesmerizing & exotic when she sings in French.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Petula's version of this wonderful song. I also think that it is much better than the original. And I also think her little "retro"dance in the middle is BRILLIANT.
I forgot to mention that I also saw Petula Clark perform at the Okeefe Centre in Toronto Canada in late November 1967. That was the very first time I saw her at a distance performing live. I was so excited. You can tell I have not forgotten.
ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON Winifred atwell. You have a very nice turn of phrase in your comments about the wonderful and very talented Petula Clark. Thank you ever so much for them Winnie they are much appreciated . From a lifelong Petula Clark fan.
I never knew she recorded Winchester Cathedral. Definitely prefer her version to the original. BTW, we saw her in concert about 4 years ago, and she still looked and sounded great!
Gail S Thank you very much for your comment and as a lifelong Petula Clark fan I have to totally agree with you 💯 per cent. Petula's version is by far and away superior to the original version. It's a good song but Petula really belts out the lyrics in her version. She also gives it some grit and attitude. I LOVE IT. & I LOVE PETULA CLARK.
Petula was one of those singers I liked to hear in my teenage years and early twenties. She had talent for singing and was very pretty. I liked her a lot. Great tunes and thanks for uploading this.
In dedication to My DAD..A great Guy with the sweetest heart..John You loved this tune! 💖 Smile from Heaven.. I LOVE YOU! (Winchester Cathedral..This is My Song..LOVE).You taught me about LOVE! 😊
Yes. I noticied it. She is such a beautiful singer, so funny, so perfect even today. Those were the days... Ah, yes, and there is another pearl from UK - Bonnie Tyler. By the way, I am 57... Have a wonderful week.
Pet sang This is my song. I.saw her live , she wore a long white flowing gown ,pink/ white sequined bodies she waltz swirling daintelly during the songs orchestral section Ill never forget how this little lady took over the entire stage, what a performance!
WHAT A ABSOLUTE WORLD CLASS ENTERTAINER PETULA CLARK IS. I'm so thankful that I was born in the decade where Petula had ALL of those MASSIVE hit records. I am so pleased to have been able to listen to and see The Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME in my lifetime. Petula Clark CBE. *She is well overdue a DAMEHOOD isn't she?
Petula Clark has a beautiful voice and I always enjoyed her singing through the years. Of course Jack Benny was one of the great entertainers of all time. I love the stage decor of the Hollywood Palace. You dont see it like that anymore. I saw Petula Clark at The OKeefe Center in Toronto, Canada on the 23rd of May 1969. Obviously I havent forgotten. I was 17 at the time and I was afraid to say this to anyone, I will say it now-I find her to be sexy.
Brian zyburabrian: NEVER EVER be too shy about saying what a stunningly beautiful woman Petula Clark is. And she as got a stunningly beautiful voice to match her absolutely exquisite looks.
Petula, you were super hot in your day. Not to say that you aren't still a good looking lady nowadays. I will always love your music girl.you really have class.
There is NO OTHER VERSION because Petula made this song TOTALLY HER OWN. I just love the way she says "YEAH!!!!" She is without doubt an EXTRAORDINARYLY WORLD CLASS SINGING SENSATION.
@niflap Petula and Julie might have together on the same bill-though certainly never as partners. However, during the war, in England, they were both rather seen as England's answer to Shirley Temple, in terms of cheering up the troops and both performed separatly at hundreds of wartime concerts for the soldiers and their families. I think they're of a similar age. Though their stlyes were somewhat different.
William Torrey:William you are SPOT ON with EVERY word you say in your comment about an absolute icon Petula Clark. She is STUNNINGLY Beautiful and as a STUNNINGLY BRILLIANT singing voice

some songs such as Winchester cathedral are best not sung by other artsits (certainly not the type of song you'd expect Petula Clark to sing) Was good to hear "This is My Song" again
Gillian Lewis: I TOTALLY and ABSOLUTELY disagree with you completely. When you can do a far and away much better job of the song (ie Winchester Cathedral) as Petula does here then I am sooooooo glad that she decided to do her own version of it. Petula's version is THE ULTIMATE VERSION. I LOVE Petula's version.

THIS IS MY SONG written by Charlie Chaplin and sung SUPERBLY by Petula Clark CBE.
A FANTASTIC SONG by a FANTASTIC LADY.
Always liked her singing from the 60's, did I just say that, lol. Anyway, such a classy lady.
I just loved her voice! Miss her. I worked downtown in a big city and her hit ‘Downtown’ was my favorite song by her. 🥰👍😊
Love this one.
Singing in French she has NO accent. Elle est superbe, sans question, SUPERBE!
This was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I haven't heard this is almost 30 years.
Absolutely stunning and without the frivolous background dancers-distractions one finds these days. Just sheer talent and beauty. Thank you. Even more mesmerizing & exotic when she sings in French.
Major goosebumps for This Is My Song...especially that tone when she switches from French to English .....breathtaking

No wonder I fancied her as a young boy. And intros don't come any better than by the great Jack Benny.
That voice...hit me in the first six bars like it did 50 years ago. Musical sunshine.PC was THE sound of the long summer called the Sixties

Hollywood Palace was my favorite show!
She loved little light one-shouldered dresses, which she wore like a million dollars.
She liked showing her legs
Christopher...Great legs, too, no doubt about that, gives some of us daydreams of kissing what's between those legs. Yummy!!!
@@christopherspencer5323 And why not when Petula's legs are stupendously GOURGOUS.

Funny isn't it, but the older we get, the less we care about what others think of what we either think or say.

She is great!!! What a good years the 60s
Too bad Vietnam and LBJ ruined the 60s.
@@carlsperr LBJ specifically sent in thousands of young men i to a war we couldn't win. He lied about the war every step of the way.
You can see how Jack Benny greatly influenced Johnny Carson.
Winchester cathedral this is the first song of PETULA CLARK... how great the song to hear by.. isn't it.. what you can say brother...
estupenda canción
Doblete, maravillosas interpretaciones de Petula. Un placer volver a escucharla y disfrutar de su genial sentido del humor

A little correction; Pet had been a Star here in Britain since the 1930s!
Née le 15 novembre 1932 elle a donc aujourd'hui son anniversaire = 85 ans !!! Happy Birthday
Wonderful!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I heard her version first and have always prefered it.

This live arrangement is better than the recording
The 60s were cool. No wonder Austin Powers was so hip. I wish I lived in the 60s even if there was no internet.
Class, class, class. Pretty sexy too.
nice song i went to a school Cathedral High
In French aweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Benjamin Kubelsky ❤
Back when we used to have real singers who could actually sing, and stars who were entertainers !
Add to that, they dressed with respect.
I am perfectly fine with today's music, today's artists and today's fashions. And I love Petula Clark, then and now.
Pretty dress for backthen
Jesus So sultry gorgoues
Joanne Stone very easy on the eyes

Long time no hear....FIFTY years ago...my goodness how time flies. I like this share very much although I'm not a big fan of Petula Clark
Does everyone know why Petula sung the first verse in French ?
She was about 34 or 35 and had been performing in public for about twenty years or so and she was hardly new to the recording industry.
