I always just use a silk or satin bonnet with my overnight heatless curls. I sleep in a bonnet anyway so might as well use it to keep my curlers in place 🤷🏼♀️. I'd lose that scarf within an hour of going to bed 😂. Love the results you got from the smaller rods!
This was a really helpful review! I have the larger set and it does tend to be more volume and waves than actual curls to mimic a blowout. One other major reason the second set looks more curly is that you blow dried your hair- essentially heating it up and smoothing it before you pinned them up- hence you’ll get a better curl result! Try a blow dry with the larger set and see if it makes a difference. Also, I find splitting the back section of hair in two to create “Mickey mouse ears” is more comfortable to sleep in (it’s still not a 10) Overall I use this as a way to preserve waves and volume on day 2+ hair so I don’t have to blow dry or curl again. But I do have course and wavy hair that holds a curl, so it will differ!

I really notice a difference in the hold of my curls if I dampen my hair and use the Ouai Wave Spray. I think it helps with holding my curls longer.
All it did was give you a lot of volume. It's pretty, but not the curl you wanted. The smaller ones worked better. My hair doesn't hold curl either for long.

The only method I've found that works for me is the t-shirt curls. I was hoping this would allow me to have my sections going in different directions for a more "curling iron curl." Sadly, no luck.
Once you put in the hair product, you should have rolled it up and let it dry on the roller. You would have gotten a smooth and bouncy result. Dry hair yields lower results.
I have a coarse wavy hair which I adore. And if I use these OB rods and it is a little humid outside then I will have a frizz snd off waves will come back. These rods are for really dry weather really.
I ordered a cheaper option of these recently off of Amazon and pretty much felt the same way. My hair doesn’t hold curl either and they just basically fell like yours did with the first set (the rollers I purchased were like the thicker set). I also felt like they were uncomfortable to sleep in and prefer my robe curls much more. I just purchased some scrunchie type curlers to try since I put my hair up in a bun most nights to try and keep some bend in my hair. Hoping one of them works out but would love for you to try those out next.

Do these really have a grip? I have some from Amazon that are velvet and look identical, but they don’t grip very well. Considering splurging on myself and buying these, but would love to know if they have an actual grip to them!
I honestly didn’t think the curl was pretty at all. Nice try though!! Might have to try these unicorn curls you speak of. I use a Lange curling wand, whatever the smaller size is since I have fine hair as well, and It'll actually stay for 2-3 days. Of course by the 3rd day it's not as curly, but still beautiful.
I'd try again but bend the rollers into a horseshoe shape first before wrapping your hair around. Then on top squish them In so they're slimmer. It means you can't feel them on your side when you sleep

Awe thanks! I will be honest, I don't find that anything helps hold my curls on my fine hair and I've tried everything. I don't think the products that I showed in the video did much at all, so I didn't even link them in my description box. I find that when my hair has a little bit of texture in it, whether it be from adding a texture/dry shampoo spray or just my hair being a little dirty, that's when my curls hold the best. The only hair product that I use consistently is a leave-in-conditioner and a hair oil. neither of those help with holding curls though!
Not everyone’s hair is going to take like that though. I have naturally curly hair so rollers would smooth it out but I would get big wavy curls that would last quite a while. ❤

The set I received for Christmas says this is not meant for clean hair. You’re supposed to to do it a few days after you wash your hair so there is some grit for I to hold onto🩵
