- Japanese nightlife etiquette can be a bit intimidating when visiting Japan for the first time. We go over some useful tips for first time visitors.

I love when Japanese try and speak English. They try and make a joke in English to help kill the awkwardness. Of course, ends up 100x more awkward and strange. And very funny.

Lol just remember they might think the same about us. :)
There are many English sounds that don't exist in Japanese. One example is the "ir" sound as in "bird." The closest Japanese sound is "ar" as in "hard." That's why "bird" comes out sounding like "bard" when many Japanese say it.
it's like my mom trying to have smalltalk with foreigners (for example on vacation) even though her english isn't that good.
I love how Natsumi said she spoke “a little” English but she sounds like an American! I wish I was 10% as fluent as she is in any other language!
She thinks the ceiling is the "wall" so not quite so fluent...
@@anneonimous9306 I mean a ceiling is technically a wall if you use the term connotatively. Besides, being called “fluent” in a language doesn’t mean perfect & without mistakes. I’m a native English speaker even though I occasionally use bad grammar.

Update after 6 years: You can pay for most hotels with card but should pay cash at bars, some take cards, but its a hassle :)

Do not tip when paying your bills. Tipping is not a thing here and will only result in embarrassment and confusion for both you and the person you are trying to tip (they will not accept the money).
