I get more enemy than frenemy in how Chris treats Ryotaro, mocking his accent and English at times. It veers into nastiness. They may actually be good friends, and have been making these videos for ages, but I actually dislike the on camera dynamic a bit.

That's actually incorrect, in the US we spend less money to get more portions, Japan spends 13.5 of their income on food while the US spends 6.5, but yes our food is typically lower quality and more calories.

Being a big fish-eater, I prefer Ryotoro's choices, but everything looks great. You two also compliment each other in such a great way because you have such different food preferences and are able to present variety of food choices.

The time in lockdown has clearly affected Ryottaro's english, he is starting to sound more like Natsuki in in his description of items. Love these local out-and-about morning market videos. My most watched one (next to the drive to see Natsuki) is the other morning market video from a few years back. Can I also add that while I;m not a world traveler, I've never encountered Chocobanana's outside of Japan before.
They have them in the USA - but they are served frozen. So it more like an ice cream treat, but they do sell them in places like Disneyland and County Fairs. They have been around since the 70s or even further back. I used to eat them a lot when I was a kid.

Okay but chocolate bananas are so underrated. I'm sorry you got the pink one, the regular (brown) chocolate banana, nevertheless, was the highlight of my first trip in Japan 4 years ago. Got in in Kyoto during gion matsuri, feels bizarre looking back at that day and the crowd in the current situation (social distancing and all). The place was packed, such a great mood - and a great moment for a sweet, cold and crispy chocolate banana.
Alot of chemistry between Chris and Ryotaro it's great to see and adds a nice touch. Second time watching this and I've enjoyed as much as I did the first time around and I must say I would have fallen victim to the ChocoBanana as well! Everything looks soooo delicious.
