    Thank you for your video and explanation. Those snap rings were a pain in the a** to put back in there during the replacement. It took me nearly an hour to get the first one in there with the magnet clutch. Second one was easier.

    Very thorough explanations. I had no idea there was a fuse under the dash. I think i'll start with the horn/AC relay first Seems easier.

    My fuse keeps burning does a bad clutch cause that?

    your video is quite helpful, thanks for showing this. I would like to point out that there may be quite a bit of editing here as the fiddly bits on this job are very fiddly indeed.

    Checked the AC on my GF 2004 Toyota Corolla that was blowing hot air. The magnetic clutch doesn't engage / spin on the compressor. With the AC turned on the fan under the hood doesn't spin. Checked the AC relay by swapping it out with the horn relay, horn didn't work, AC relay was bad. I replaced the AC relay but it didn't fix the problem. The fan still doesn't spin and the magnetic clutch on the compressor doesn't engage / spin. Not sure what to do and can't really afford going to a mechanic (they quoted me $125 just for the diagnostic).

    Thank you for very helpful video! Can you please advise where did you buy the clutch? I tried to find it everywhere using your part number and found nothing. It will be very appreciated if you would help me. Thank you!

      The Toyota part number for the electromagnetic clutch is 88320-02120, some kits don't list the part and just say something like "A/C Compressor Clutch Pulley Bearing Toyota Corolla 03-08 1.8L" for the compressor that came on the American made 1ZZ-FE engines.
      If you are replacing the magnet, I would replace the pulley too.
      Here are some kits like the one I found when I was doing the job, the vendor I got it from is gone.

    Amazing video. Do you happen to know if this model corolla has the same a.c. compressor clutch as the 2006 model?

    when i engage the AC switch in the car, the engine fan initially starts, but then cuts on and off intermittently every few seconds...there is also a very faint sound coming from the compressor as if it is trying to engage...any ideas?

    I see you use a pair of straight clip tool .. I have the right angle ones but they are not deep enough to reach the inner clip. Were you able to twist the compressor enough (3 bolts) to access the clip? I've been fighting this for awhile. If the compressor is removed obviously it would be easy to bench fix it... but I don't want to lose any 'freon'. It seems like when you removed the 3 bolts you were able to work on it facing upwards... your thoughts?? great video btw.. thanks

    Hello there, may I ask a question. I have the same Toyota and nearly every time I press on the accelerator pedal the electromagnetic clutch cuts off for a split second. Only if I accelerate very firm and slowly the ac clutch stays on. Is this a normal feature for these Toyota cars? Someone said to me that the magnetic ac clutch could be designed to cut off like this so that the engine could have more power in certain road situations but I kind of doubt that is the case. Do you by chance know anything on that matter? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

    How did you get the new pulley on? Am I supposed to go back to Autozone and rent a "pulley pusher" instead of the "pulley puller"?? I'm going to wind up making a pilgrimage to Home Depot and buying special threaded fasteners and whatnot, aren't I?

    • @KTrainGarage
      @KTrainGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me, cleaning the spindle and splines gave enough tolerance to push the pulley and driver on with my hand. If the fit is too tight for that, you could get a longer bolt to start to pull the driver onto the pulley wheel before doing final installation of the proper short bolt with blue locktite.

      @@KTrainGarage I will be trying that first thing in the morning. The hardest part so far was getting the snap ring back on the new magnet.

    Are they compressors known for going bad? Mines making some clutch noise. I think I'll just replace that.
