In my opinion, Sebastien Loeb is the greatest driver ever of all time, and any categories. And I'm not talking as a "fan" but really objectively. He's really good on any surface, tarmac, gravel, snow!(even thought it took him some time to beat the Scandinavians on that surface).
9 times rallying world champion - in succession. Got second in Le Mans, and did really well in touring cars. Enough said really. I don't know any other driver with such a track record.
Incredible drive from the man that demolished rally driving: 7 championships but the cost real is that everyone is copying his neat, F1 style of meticulously not losing traction in the corners and going around them nice. Nobody is throwing the car into the curves anymore. He destroyed rally driving. His '13 Pikes record should be the first record of the newly full-asphalt track. You can't compare 2013 Pikes peak with 1984 Ari Vatanen Pikes Peak. Apples to Oranges.
tell that to the people who make forza and GT. those sound people have never heard an engine in their lives, i'm amazed that there is someone that would greenlight those games.
The power delivery on this car is absolutely insane: crazy downforce, operating way above see level and still with insane acceleration and speed! :o #sick
Big Thanks Option Auto for uploading this video....not like that shitty overview video of Redbull TV. Loeb is in my opinion the best rally driver ever. and what a powerful car, this peugeot. In such moments, I'm very proud to be french :)
Once and for all... If it was sand and gravel, it's the same for Loeb .. he is 9 times WRC champion on asphalt, sand, snow, gravel, or everything else.. so it doesn't matter, Loeb is the best pilot of all time, period! Nobody can do or will ever do what he did!
I don't care what people say. It's probably the same people who think the new F1 engine sounds are shit; This is Pikes Peak, gravel or not. It doesn't make it any less dangerous with today's high-speed vehicles. Think otherwise? Imagine how many less deaths there has been since the tarmac. Secondly, post your time for this mountain or I don't give a shit.
+gozinta82 Posting ones times on PP is irrelevant if they don't drive it. Personally i liked the gravel version more but PP tarmac is also fun to watch.
Have always been Curious, once a competitor does he run to the top of the mountain, guessing that all of them have to wait up there til all of them are done then there must be a BIG parade of cars coming back down the mountain???
I've drivin through the mountains enough to know that even though it looks like your going downhill because of the SIZE of the mountains, your actually not. So everything about this video is correct. jus sayin
Roger Harbaugh The size of the mountain has nothing to do with going downhill. There are multiple sections where he is going downhill, but probably the most pronounced is at about 6:20 in the video when he is between Devil's Playground and Bottomless Pit. It is very noticeable, especially if you are trying to push a motorcycle back "down" the hill, yet the altitude display keeps climbing up. But then again, I could be wrong. I've only been a participant in the hill climb for about 15 years.
v12tommy well im going to base my assumptions off of the end of the track altitude which is 14,107 feet. the approx height of the mountain is 14,110 so i believe the altitude display is correct and i could be right.
Roger Harbaugh The start and finish elevation is correct, but in between it is not. The altitude listed on screen goes up at a linear rate, like an airplane climbing to it's first cruising altitude. The road however, is anything but linear. There are sections that are a gradual climb, others that are a steep climb, and some sections that even go downhill for a bit. If the altitude displayed was accurate, it would slow down on the flatter sections, and speed up on the steeper ones, and even reverse a bit on the downhill sections. Look at the listed elevation when he goes past Devil's Playground. It is off by around 400 feet from the actual altitude. (which is then made up by the time he gets to the top because the top 1/3 of the course is much flatter than the rest.)
v12tommy I live very close to this mountain and have driven/hiked it on several occasions. I can assure you there are definitely downhill sections and they are quite dramatic.
Lol you must be severely mistaken. Most American teams are still scratching their head trying to break the 10 minutes barrier in 2023. Ari Vatanen did 10:47.77 in a Peugeot in 1988 and that time (along with Rohrl’s time the year before) shattered the existing record by a couple of minutes.
I honestly believe that if Seb would run again, he could break the 8 minute barrier on this peak. Mark your calendars for the 2014 run and see that barrier fall to dust.
superb drive by Leob.. world record... respect u king of tarmac, even on gravel you are really fast.. but i prefer Pikes Peak's Climb - Ari Vatanen.. gravel make him like "dancing" with the car..pike peak more interesting with double surface...tarmac and gravel...just my opinion...=)
Loeb is Hell of a driver ofc but imo the drive what A.Vatanen did in Group B-Car,manual gear box and in full dirt road was way more impressive, harder and way more entertaining and the feel of danger was more than real in Vatanen epic Master piece driving!👍👊 Pikes Peak is kinda ruined cos no more dirt race and Loeb "record time" cant be compared to times when Pikes Peak was all Dirt and cars was way more difficult to drive! But im not saying that i dont enjoy this Loeb's skilled driving but ill like the original Pike Peaks road much much more..! And BTW The Rally is the real #1 and King of all Motorsport and not the F1 what is mostly boring af now a days cos too damn much dumb rules n penaltyes ffs!F1 Cars sounds like a damn vacoom cleaners and mostly the races r booooooriiiiiing af!👎😤 Sorry for a crappy English guys ✌ Rally FTW!🥇👍👊💪
No. Its about the noise, like in F1... You dont hear tire squeel because the vechicle is too loud to hear it. I bet it does squeel sometimes, but you cant hear it. :)
Yup, full asphalt takes a bit off the glory and he couldn't have used slicks there. Still, Loeb is such a legend with such smooth and steady pace that he makes it look so easy and even a little boring at times. :D
I THINK IF ANY PILOT LOPEZ CHEST AS GOING OVER THE LOWER LIMIT IS PROPOSED THAT THE RECORD achieved by the fact THAT GIVES ME sensation LOEB IN MANY PARTS THAT TOOK NO CAUSE MANY steps to an oversight
That "monster" has the same speed on the start altd and same at the 5K altitude!!!!That's 241kph in 6th!! gear wow!!!! That is fantastik - period. And the man is THE No 1.
the car is monstrous reaching very dangerous speeds for a course like this. However if the driver is Loeb i would feel confident sitting in the passenger seat.
Loeb is the greatest driver to have ever got behind the wheel. He redefined the WRC with his accurate almost circuit driving style.
This wasn’t WRC
check Kalle Rovanperä,,,
@@markjurczyk No suggestion that this is WRC , simply a comment on the mark that he has made in WRC , the style and standard of his driving.
Don't remenber Walter Rhörl?
Forget the silly comments, this is a great drive by a very talented guy.
9 times World Champion deserves more than "a very talented guy", tho. 😉
In my opinion, Sebastien Loeb is the greatest driver ever of all time, and any categories. And I'm not talking as a "fan" but really objectively. He's really good on any surface, tarmac, gravel, snow!(even thought it took him some time to beat the Scandinavians on that surface).
Doni Raase 100Prozent richtig. Genau auf den Punkt. So, fährt man.
+Peder Hansen , yes is the best .... the french touch .....
Colin macrae
9 times rallying world champion - in succession. Got second in Le Mans, and did really well in touring cars. Enough said really. I don't know any other driver with such a track record.
Thanks for uploading this. I had been looking for the HD version.
To remain calm with a heart rate of 175+, while having to remember whats next on the course so as not to fall off the mountain.....impressive.
Why is Loeb so fast? He is a legend in rally, it seems no one will even come close.
Incredible drive from the man that demolished rally driving: 7 championships but the cost real is that everyone is copying his neat, F1 style of meticulously not losing traction in the corners and going around them nice. 9 times world champ bro
Loeb est une légende vivante...
listen to that Codemaster ^^ that's an onboard sound
tell that to the people who make forza and GT. those sound people have never heard an engine in their lives, i'm amazed that there is someone that would greenlight those games.
The power delivery on this car is absolutely insane: crazy downforce, operating way above see level and still with insane acceleration and speed! :o #sick
The car itself is tiny with a fat giant wing on it
Driver has some serious balls to keep on at around 5:10, don't look down.
Bravo, bravo c'est un record exceptionnel.

Awesome driving, he makes it look so easy...
I think modern WRC cars would look like this it the B group hadn't been canceled. Loeb is from a different planet, unbelievable skills.
The track was better when it was a mudslide back in the 80s.
Check out Group B 1986 or 87 Group B Rally.
Why was it better ?
does suck that there's no more gravel, but what's done is done.......Lobe is a beast!! Great job
@6:25 was he hitting the limiter?
If someone can find a outside video of this moment, I'll pay him ^^
yes
Big Thanks Option Auto for uploading this video....not like that shitty overview video of Redbull TV.
Loeb is in my opinion the best rally driver ever.
and what a powerful car, this peugeot.
In such moments, I'm very proud to be french :)
i want to have the opportunity to try that hill climb. it looks so incredible. and great drive by mr. Loeb
Fantastico Loeb

hy is the video sped up? you can notice it when you see people run from the road to the side, it's inhumanly quick.
***** im kinda wondering the same thing....
Amplar2 buddy, he AVERAGED 97-100 mph through out the whole climb. So no, the video is not sped up.
it is at 60 fps that is why it seems faster than it is
Do the math buddy
Jagers fall lol its not 60
Sebastian Loeb is one of the best if not the best driver ever!!!
Fantastic drive - I'm surprised the car could reach such speeds carrying Loeb and his enormous gonads. Much respect.
There's a mark that should stand for a while. Well done Sebastian.
That focused stare... no blinking in this ride.
4:20............ dont lose it !
6:25-nél végsebesség és teljes fordulatszám!!!!fantasztikus!!

PlAsKusJ3GaRn
Yeah, I agree. Both track versions are pretty neat :)
Grande .... Il migliore.....TOP . 🤗
Grande Loeb!!
this looks so unreal! :D so amazing!
Very good audio! I like the bit at 6:25 maxing the rev!
Have always been Curious, once a competitor does he run to the top of the mountain, guessing that all of them have to wait up there til all of them are done then there must be a BIG parade of cars coming back down the mountain???
i admit i have a phobia of high place
and this video made me sweat a lot!
nice drive Loeb
Respect SEB........GO GO GO
Thanks for sharing!
I didnt hear much of any tire squeel, does this imply he could have generally cornered faster? (closer to the limit of adhesion)
Superbe vidéo. MERCI
Alot crazier than the Nurburgring! Respect to the driver!
know your limits, not the ones that make you tremble in fear, but the ones which won't kill you.
Simply smashing
The altitude display isn't accurate. Even on the downhill sections, it still counts up at a continuous pace.
I've drivin through the mountains enough to know that even though it looks like your going downhill because of the SIZE of the mountains, your actually not. So everything about this video is correct. jus sayin

S.Loeb legends!
BRAVO seb super pilotage
I still prefer Ari Vattenens video.
burak sarıkaya You mean the state of the art technology group B sun visor? :D
+triptechable i prefer monster tajima with his red escudo hahah
Yeah no matter what you prefer, Sebastien Loeb is still the best car driver of all times.
Vatanen got it on MUD this asfalt road is pretty boring
This is the drama of modern race cars.
They're so efficient that they're looks boring, despite the chronometer!
They did this in around 10min in the 80s-90s, ON GRAVEL. Those were the days.
...and with less hp an worse tires.
Get you some of that! Wow!
Incredible drive.
Great drive by Leob. Wish they kept the biometrics up the whole time.
Yeah for sure. Would have loved to have seen the biometrics too.
Why the video is not at normal playing speed? :((
It is at its normal playing speed.
this is great and you're the best ......
Just GREAT !!!
Good job mec ❤❤❤
Man that was some smooth driving.
Loeb THE KING
Fantastic drive.
But what really impresses is how fast the car accelerates.
great drive
Great Racer!!!
C'est une légende cet homme

Living legend
the bumper cam looks fast forwarded footage, but it's not! It must be insanely fast!
he didn't drift. not even once, but he made a record. so meaning drifting in turns is basically the same speed as slowing down in turns?
Is this a serious question?
*This pretty much resembles my driving to the school with my kids every morning we are running late.*
+Roy Robson LMFAO same, I'd bolt down backroads to my school all the time
Loeb is Hell of a driver ofc but imo the drive what A.Vatanen did in Group B-Car,manual gear box and in full dirt road was way more impressive, harder and way more entertaining and the feel of danger was more than real in Vatanen epic Master piece driving!👍👊 Pikes Peak is kinda ruined cos no more dirt race and Loeb "record time" cant be compared to times when Pikes Peak was all Dirt and cars was way more difficult to drive! But im not saying that i dont enjoy this Loeb's skilled driving but ill like the original Pike Peaks road much much more..! im sure some of us played our racing game after watching this
Petros Komninos dirt ^^
Project cars by me :)
i played dirt before.. but i found some games with better physics
i just can't believe he's hitting over 200km, like, i just can't believe he can go those speeds and not fall off the hill.
No. Its about the noise, like in F1... You dont hear tire squeel because the vechicle is too loud to hear it. I bet it does squeel sometimes, but you cant hear it. :)
Le 0 à 100 est plus rapide qu'une voiture de F1 ou autre : 0.8 s et 0 à 240, je crois que c'est 4.8s. C'était sur auto-moto.
awesome
Yup, full asphalt takes a bit off the glory and he couldn't have used slicks there.
Still, Loeb is such a legend with such smooth and steady pace that he makes it look so easy and even a little boring at times. :D
I'm pretty sure this is sped up just slightly
+Andy Cocchia The time is 8m13, you can check with your watch, so no, the video is not speed up.
0:21 Mr jones had second thoughts on his brilliant plan of playing chicken.
In fact, yes: re-gravel that thing and get the bikes off the hill entirely. Great idea!
Cool !!!
Wasn't the new Range Rover Sport a bit faster than this?
I THINK IF ANY PILOT LOPEZ CHEST AS GOING OVER THE LOWER LIMIT IS PROPOSED THAT THE RECORD achieved by the fact THAT GIVES ME sensation LOEB IN MANY PARTS THAT TOOK NO CAUSE MANY steps to an oversight
Vitrius Argento Google Translator doing what it does best.
this car is much much easier to drive than the S1. loeb is one of the best Driver of this Generation, but Röhrl is the god of rallye
I can only imagine how much of a tool each person who disliked this must be.
8:03 he could have driven a bit faster there
lol @ the people running across 0:22
where is this mountain?
+pol espadale aguilera Rocky Mountains.
+pol espadale aguilera Colorado USA
(Cont'd) off the year prior. Respect.
I am definitely sure he can go faster than 8 minutes with the same car.
But is very dangerous go faster
Wooow , i would shit my pants D:
That "monster" has the same speed on the start altd and same at the 5K altitude!!!!That's 241kph in 6th!! gear wow!!!!
That is fantastik - period.
And the man is THE No 1.
Does he not have a co-driver?
nope
this is more of a timed race then a rally style timed race
188 bpm heart rate and foot to the floor!! No fear
the car is monstrous reaching very dangerous speeds for a course like this. However if the driver is Loeb i would feel confident sitting in the passenger seat.
Do you see how close to the edge he gets some times, that's what the worlds best driver can do.
So too many pilots hillclimb Pikes Peak until now for picnic
