      He's not the best in any game and has lost to many. Bas can attest in CVS2, Kokujin in SF3, and let's not get into the ST gods. He's good at first, then others start to own him. I like how it was mentioned that he is "one of" the greatest but then he seems like a fanboy throughout.

      I think the modern games honestly are too simple/easy for him to stand out. He is clearly still one of the best even though he isnt winning like back then. Now there are more players, and there is nothing executionally difficult in SF 5/6 so its hard to consistently win or stand out.

    • @harryvuemedia5106
      @harryvuemedia5106 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Daigo still is the best Street Fighter players. To me, SF games like SF5 and SF6 are way too simple and has no ladder to climb to become complex. For example in SF4, even if you string a long freaking combo like Evil Ryu, the damage gets halted. In SF5 and SF6, you can literally beat your opponent with 1 string of combos. There were so many perfects compare to past SF games like 3rd Strike, Alpha 3, and SFIV. Alpha 3, 3rd Strike and SFIV were all easy to learn and becomes very complex once you go pro. I think its the main reason why we see the God Players of 3rd Strike not move on because they prefer the battle system rather than the new games.

    • @mkooij

      @@harryvuemedia5106 yeah Ryan Hart argued the same thing but I disagree. Daigo just isn't that inhuman level anymore. Even iDom said that he kept doing reactable stuff like DI against Daigo because he knows that Daigo is old and just doesn't have the reactions anymore. He is still amazingly good don't get me wrong but players like I named before are simply better now. I think I can name 12 players who are better than Daigo anno 2024. But that is actually a huge deal, the fact that Daigo can still compete with the top younger guys in his 40's

    One of my favorite Daigo moments was the Capcom Cup finals during covid, when he played against Gachikun. The general consensus going into the match was that Gachikun was heavily favored, although Daigo had made it into the finals, his results weren't very convincing while Gachikun had been dominant. And Daigo completely ANNIHILATED Gachikun, it wasn't even close of being close, Gachikun looked like a kid that had just got his first stick and was trying out SF for the first time. Daigo was in his mind the whole match, there's a particular air throw that Daigo lands that made it look like he was omniscient, there was nothing Gachikun could do at that point, might as well just unplug his stick and go to bed. It was BEAUTIFUL

    On personal level, SF4 still feels like a golden age of competition that hasn't been matched since. Amongst other things, It might just be that back then we only saw matches between top players every few months, so it was very exiting waiting for next major tournement to come around. As social media has grown, a lot of top players have a channel so we are seeing tech develop in real time. Back then, seeing something for the first time at a major was just so epic.
    And how good does it still look too... LOVED the SF4 art style. Huge fan of the grainy hand held camera footage. Again, this is something that we were simply used to back then. Other than tournement uploads, hand held was our content. Pool matches and the odd top 64 matches were from someone that recorded and uploaded it. Shout out to those capeless heroes too. I've played SF5 and SF6 just as hard... But SF4 is still THE one for me.

    These legendary street fighter players are the last of its kind. Barely any young players taking interest in fighting games anymore so once these legends stop playing, the fighting game scene will be history. FGC is slowly dying as well. No matter the next new Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Soul Calibur or DBFZ, its a lot of older veteran players that are still keeping the scene alive.
    I'm going to watch Daigo play as much as I can before he retires and moves on to something else. He is fun to watch as I love his calming, his adaption and his playing style.

    that last moment, I feel like is why I have a hard time watching and enjoying SF6. When you saw combos like that in 4 you knew it took skill, and not anyone can lab it in 5 minutes and master it.

    yo jm crofts, it would be cool if you could let the commentary play for the particularly hype moments. it really adds to some of the clips imo, like the diago heavy punch into super whiff punish on dhalsim

    Diago! My favorite by far, loved those Evil Ryu days, best FGC moments. Too bad he went Guile and hit box. I wish he would have just stayed Ryu or Evil Ryu the whole way. Really felt like Guile just held him back in the SFV days. Glad to see him still going strong!

    People trash talk Daigo so much these days and compare him to today's top players.
    I can assure you none of them will remain in the elite like Daigo has for so many games and generations (Dark Stalkers, Guilty Gear, SF2, SF3, Alpha 3, SF4, SF5, SF6).
    He's the Michael Jordan of fighting games.

    I'd like to add that he used MP super against SIM. That would not have worked with LP super or HP super, as they are different speeds. This is something he knew and practiced when no one else knew about it. And I'd like to add that I have not seen anyone do that in any tournament other than him.
