- Maine Cabin Build Ep.16
We missed a week working on the cabin, my grandfather is sick so we went and visited him in Ohio. This week working on the cabin I was able to get a good bit done. I now have the exterior wall logs complete. The loft and roof support beams are in. I started on the loft floor joists and have drug out more logs for the sawmill. The top plates for the rafters and ridge beam will be milled on the sawmill. I plan to start the pier supports for the deck and overhang roof supports. With hunting season here I plan to only put a video on every 2 weeks. Once the log cabin is built we will make videos of our off grid lifestyle and show you ways to be more self reliant. Our self reliance is our main goal with our new journey! Please subscribe and share with as many as you can. We are Christians who believe in spreading the word of God as far as we can! Thank you for your support!
Welcome to our channel! Join us as we navigate our changing life. We purchased our Maine property in the fall of 2023 and we’re starting to build our future now. We will be building our 24’x24’ cabin and starting our homestead.
In 2022 we felt God leading us down a different path. We were building a home while awaiting the arrival of our first born. We found out our son had many abnormalities and his odds of survival weren’t good. Jase was born in July and we spent 101 days with him in the NICU before he passed away. After losing our son we knew for sure it was time for a change. He reminded us how short life can be.
In 2023 we sold our home, found out we were expecting our rainbow baby, and bought property. We then moved from Ohio to Maine to start this next chapter!
Now here we are starting 2024 off in Maine with our baby girl, Annabelle.
Follow along as we follow God and start this new adventure!
With love,
Justin, Taylor, Jase, Annabelle

You're an animal!!!! Incredible amount of work you are accomplishing.
You very calmly picked up your ladder and post....... admirable. "Power, love, and self control."

This cabin is great. ❤always amazes me how people can take logs and make a beautiful home.
Yes it is amazing to see people living in homes built the same way as they were 100’s of years ago!

@@jczheng530 thank you! I will try to be safe!
Nice build buddy.. I'm building one in maine also right now with round log joists and perlins.. but mine is 38 x 78 feet cabin
That’s awesome!! That is a big one! Wish you luck on finishing it up! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful view ruined by wind turbines
Yes I agree
Saw some Power, Love and Self-Control in that video. Brother you might want to think about some scaffolding or milling up some running boards on the interior of the cabin for a little more safety. I think your little girl and wife need you more than the cabin. That center 8x8 was looking a little sketchy. But you are a work horse! Looking good
Thank you!! Once I get the loft joists in it will be a lot safer and easier!
Hope your Grandfather is on the mend! Please buy yourself some cheap chaps to wear when your cutting. I'm sure you know this, but chainsaw cuts are brutal. JMTCW
Thank you!! Yes I do need to get some. I use a saw pretty much every day so it definitely would be smart!
Hey! What material do you use to fill the gaps between the trunks? I haven't seen that construction method yet :)
It will be a wire mesh with chinking. A special mortar mixture similar to stucco. I’ll chink the outside then insulate and then chink the inside.
@@RebornOffgrid I can imagine what you mean, thanks for the quick reply.
