- The T-34 is a legendary Soviet medium tank… or, rather, a whole family of tanks. They are known for their powerful guns, excellent mobility and, in many cases, decent armour as well. There are fourteen different T-34 variants in War Thunder, from the most conventional of models to experimental vehicles or tanks that only saw limited production. The latest variant could even hold its ground against early MBTs…

If youre facing any T-34 before the T-34-57, aim for the sides of the gun or below it. almost always a guarnteed penetration, if not a kill.

People don’t seem to grasp the concept of shooting the turret at all in br 3.3, I came up against a vehicle that I could barely pen if I shot it a certain place in its turret, and during the 15 ish rounds that I threw at the vehicle (it had a much faster reload rate than mine) they not once shot at my turret which could’ve penned me, and instead opted for shooting my hull armor 20 times before I shot out their transmission and killed it.
(Was using earliest t-34 variant, that thing is a beast at its br)

In all seriousness, APCR isn’t even worth using in the current game for the T-34 series. The APCR round is used to go through more armor (obviously), but when you need to go through more armor, you probably aren’t in the right spot when fighting the enemy. This is true especially when considering the T-34-85, where if you are using APCR, and you’re in front of an enemy tank at your BR that needs APCR, you’re definitely in the wrong spot. The APHE rounds are so much more useful and efficient, with the capabilities to one shot virtually any vehicle with ease from the side, and most enemy weak spots from the front (Even cupolas!).
TL:DR, APCR bad and almost useless compared to APHE in Russian tanks
Kevin Tan agreed, APHE is the ONLY shell I use. HE isn’t even that important.

lets not forget the fact that a t-34 85 is a higher BR then a Tiger 1, and said T 34 85 will get upteired to fight Jagdtigers. It literally gets a new APCR round that most people dont use.
There are still wheraboos complaining about 'muh tigers' getting destroyed by t34s a couple of comments up the list tho.
T-34/85 is much better than Tiger and deserves to be at BR 10.0

Also, T-34-85 APCR, as the 5.7 T-34-85 is one of my top 5 played tanks, is pretty much useless even after it got pen nerfed with ballistics code. There's a whopping five standard and three premium tanks you can use it against that would pen where the APHE wouldn't (Ho-Ri Production, Tiger II H, Tiger II 10.5, T34 and Tortoise as well as the premium Sla. 16, T29 and T30), and even then not only is it not guaranteed to pen, it will do almost nothing due to APCR nerfs from way back when. You're better off shooting cannon barrel and flanking, or just running away and setting up an ambush.
Penning a T28, T95, Jagdtiger, Ferdinand (apart from secret spot) frontally is legit impossible, but you still see T-34-85s outperforming most everything they face.
Something to be said for skill and knowledge.

And changed the basics of what can penetrate what, seems like. And changed the BR of certain vehicles to where I see them all the time now at my fav BR, and can't pen them.

I think it would be cool if there was a T-34-85 that would have the extra 15mm extra frontal armor and the extra 15mm armor for the side of the hull and turrent like the T-34E
or the T-34-57 1943 with the extra armor.

I live in Romania and I went to a park called "Arsenal Park" where as the name says is a lot of arsenal from AAA guns to T34-85 tanks and even a T55.My favourite model is the T34-85 witch my grandpa traind with in the army.It's actualy prety spacious inside compared to the T55 witch you have to squeze in when you fire so the gun wont hit you in your right arm from the recoil.Imside the T34-85 I went to the gunners position, my mum took the loaders position and my dad the drivers spot.We had a lot of fun and I'm very happy that I got the ocasion to be inside my favourite tank.

I don't think they ever did buy a panther. I think they only bought 2 panzer III and the tiger tank.

The legendary T34 is only legendary for the numbers built. When the Germans first encountered it, it was a shock their 37 mm Anti tank gun they called the door knocker didn't do the job. But the Germans had better tactics and communication. Half the Russian tanks built and driven to the front broke down from mechanical problems which was a big concern when the Germans invaded Stalingrad. They where built very quickly and had a very crude finish. On Stalin's order some measures where taken for quality control but once the big German cats came out and the Panzer 3, and IV where upgraded the T34 started to loose its edge and only in mass numbers would it work but with great losses to life and material The latter T34/85 was an improvement but still the German big cats outranged them and had better optics and the T34/85 didn't have a turret bustle so the loader had to walk round with the turret as it rotated.
I think the Sherman tank was better when it came to logistics and ease of maintenance and served in every theater of the war even the Russians got them and they loved them for that. Ironically the first Russian tank to enter Berlin wasn't Russian it was a lend lease American Sherman. After the war in the Korean war they meet each other against North Korean and Chinese T34/85 tanks which where on par with the Easy Eight version Sherman though the Shermans optics where better and with a better stabilized gun could fire on the moove and better trained crews. The Israeli Super Sherman's where the ultimate Sherman tanks being modified with better guns like the French high velocity 75mm on the M50 but the 105mm F1 on the M51 defeated Russian built T54/55 and the latest Russian T62 MBT tanks in combat supplied to the Syrians and Egyptians.
You need to take into account that they knew the tank would only be operable for a limited time before it would be destroyed anyways and so they tried to save resources by not including some parts so they can make more tanks.
The Soviets also had good generals but Stalins purges meant they died. This meant that leadership was given to inexperienced people.
@@rn-zu5ld The Soviet Union did not have good generals even before the purge. There were only minor exceptions (even in 1941). Let's not forget the influence of Stalin and political commissioners on the army (e.g. Commissioner Vaszugin)
The entire Red Army was a very weak army in terms of professionalism. In addition, from 1931 they focused on aggressive tactics. Attack instead of defense. Defense and retreat were not practiced at all.
But even in the attack, the Red Army was weak. This showed a series of counterattacks in June 1941. For example the great tank battle at Dubno-Brody.

The t34 85 was forced to come very close to the tiger h1, to pen it.
Meanwhile in war thunder the t34 pens the tiger h1 from 2km.

The new Battle Ratings are totally unfair in AB, go back to the .7 br spread and put the tiger back to 5.7 where it belongs.
A +- two BR ranks, example a 4.7 could face no higher than 5.3 and no lower than 4.0, would solve like 90% of uptiering and balance issues without breaking the game. A few vehicles would need moving, but it wouldn't be a huge amount like when American tanks hit and 4.7 RB M18 broke four maps to the state of unplayable for 6 months then made 5.7 cancer with it's OP as hell APHE that frontal penned upper hull of a panther and turret fave Tiger II H.

Who knows? If the Panzer 4 had more fuel tanks than ammo racks it might've survived more than 5 minutes. Seriously that thing soaks up huge amounts of damage when I'm retreat-tactically repositioning.

The only good AA in game between 3.7 and 7.7 and it was a premium event with a pretty bad grind wall and few people received them? Still pissed about that

Idgaf though I just want the vehicle tbh, and World Of Tanks is selling their rewards from pre ordering the game at this point so who knows what will happen with Gaijin's morals.
@@earthyring4393 for sure, it's total BS event vehicles from 2014 and 2015 like the E-100, RBT-5 and M4 748 are only available to people who got extremely lucky or happen to be accepted into the WT-YT partnership program. I also think it's unfair for holiday events, as many of us are visiting family or not in town etc and have zero chance to grind tanks like the Ersatz M10, something I would happily drop $15 for.

Personally, I love the T-34s in game. They're great tanks for beginners who want to learn the basics of playing mediums, and they're absolute monsters when an ace is at the keyboard.

The totally not 1942 model that is definitely different and is the Chinese 1943 model is godly. I got 12 kills in my first game with the thing. Think I only lost 1 crewmember.
Super Kid in War Thunder the T-34 is a good tank
Angled armour, many shells, ok armour pen for it's BR, it's fast and is able to bounce shells off

Can't tell you how many times I've put a round into the mantlet of a Panther I, Tiger I, Sherman, T-34-85, T34/T29 or Centurion just to have it absorbed by something the size of a man's head. KajMak64Bit IRRC the T-44-100 never made it to mass production because the turret was too small to fit the gun comfortably for the crew, hence the upgrade to the T-54 with a bigger turret

Got penetrated IRL by german 20mm due to poor armor quality, because of poor wielding technique.
Which was solved on later model, late 1941 and later, because the US told the russians how to wield with the Lend-Lease program

Both are fine where they are. 5.7 T-34-85 is one of my top 5 played tanks (I think it's actually my number one), T-44 is one of my favorite trolls. T-44 is a beast. It's cannon is weak at 6.3 for sure, but it can tank a lot of shells if you can angle right or stay at range to be bait and point farm. Using T-34-85 even with an 85% plus uptier rate (33% or more players in game are 6.3-6.7 for uptier in my stats) I average 3 to 5 kills per T-34-85 life, through a match I average like 8 or 9 using other tanks.
KV-2 has a 42 stock reload, HE underperforms like all hell, APHE top flat pen is a mere 84mm (meaning you can't even pen a Pz. IV H upper plate at point blank reliably), and all the other cons of a KV-2 and it still gets 4.3 to face 76, 17 pdr and french Shermans, Jumbos, Tiger H1 and Church Mk. VII

I simply love the t-34 1942 I probaly got over 12 kills in it for more than just 1 battle. And at this time I got 161 battles in this thing. it feels so good killing panzer 3 and 4 in it
