    At 1:25 (Theres a bunch of stuff on this washer). That actually belongs there. When it was new it was a softened plastic which made the turning easier 🙂

  • @vw4x4
    @vw4x4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That crude you found on the linkage carter pin is the remains of a plastic bushing.. There is one on each side. Replacing it will help with the steering. Without it your going to where the holes eggs shaped.

    The "bunch of stuff" on the washer at 1:25 is the plastic bushing. About $8 for a pair of them on Amazon.

    I would cut a section out of the middle of the rod, thread both ends and put a turnbuckle in for adjustment.

    Thanks that takes care of toe in/parallel alignment, but what about caster/camber issues? Wheels not at right angle to ground?

    By chance could you be able to tell me why if I try to put throttle on hight it dies or is it not suppose to because of the choke. Makes for a slow lawn mower AND it is difficult to steer, reminds me of driving with no power steering. Any thoughts would be great. Thank you!

    Where can I find the Bushings that the steering Spindle goes into?

  • @joesphbaumgardner4579

    @Jeff's little engine service. I can find alot of info on the toe out etc. What I can't find is issues with a tire slanted inward. Here is my issue. MTD Yard Machines rider. I got this thing used. Right front wheel is straight and fine.. Left wheel the bottom of tire kicks inward some. Not alot, but enough to note and can tell. I just replaced tire and rims on this mower and new bushings. Still same issue. Now the mower also does not have a ajust point like some do for toe out. What I do see is at the end of drag link that goes to that left tire only. It gas some nuts and threads to ajust. That ties into a silver end that has at end the pivot ball. First I been wanting to know forever what that ajustment would do if I mess with it or whats it for? Last, my issue- how to solve maybe? Replace the black thing that wheel slides on? Meaning the left arm or whatever that has black plastic cap ontop.

      the left axle may need replacing

    • @joesphbaumgardner4579
      @joesphbaumgardner4579 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for input. I wanted to check to see if I may be on right track with left axle. I could bend it but I have no vice or right stuff so my idea there is shot. Being it has new tires and rims and bushings I feel myself axle. Guess it's time to fork over 30 or so bucks and toss dice and see. Not much else in mind at sec it could be to cause issue. Being nothing looks damaged or bent. I do know on a lift I can grab tire and tilt with slight play it has and it almost is straight. That is with new bearings that cam with tires and rim. Course issue was same prior also. Will get a axle and update.

      @@JeffsLittleEngineService I have a update as of July 10. So my issue is MTD Yard Machines front left wheel. Tire at bottom kicks in some. Top looks straight. Right tire is dead straight. Just put new tread and rims on this thing other week because needed tires. I went ahead and ordered left Axle direct from MTD. I got that and I installed it. Verdict- the kick in on bottom tire is alot worse...... Kicks in even more than the old part and new tire I had on it. So, at this point all looks fine around that area and not bend or history I at least see of damage. Course something is not right. The Axle was a bust so what is next to look at as likely cause?

    When you buy one look for a cast iron front end, much stronger.

    • @awesomeferret
      @awesomeferret 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it though? If it's stronger for a few years but rusts way faster, is it actually stronger?

    • @charleschapman2428
      @charleschapman2428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@awesomeferretVisit the dealer/store and compare a stamped steel to a cast iron. The cast iron is a lot thicker and stronger, it's an indication of a better built machine. This is a case of seeing is believing.

    Wrong type of alignment. Instead of doing the type of alignment that everyone can feel their way through, you should do a tutorial talking about the camber alignment, which is a much more serious and hard to fix problem (wheels bent inwards, top of tire is pointing away from unit, bottom of tire pointing towards unit).
