Take it from an old guy that has worked on cars for over 50 years, from what you started with, you have done a GREAT job putting that Nomad back together.
DD, thanks for working on the Nomad! The vehicle is starting to look mean and cool 😎. Keep up the good work and remember to keep it fun and appreciate what you have. Take care!!!
Soooo Dan, great job on your Nomad, I am so glad you got the glass in without breaking it, IF you ever have to do it again you might want to put all the sliding trim in first, tighten the bottom down, and take the top out and put it on top of the glass in the middle push it into the bottom trim, and into place and then put the screws in front and back will hold it, move the glass forward and back to fit the rest of the screws in this works very well on my 1971 series Land Rover front door glass, also the rubber you have for the front doors will need to be screwed up, this takes a little patience as you have to drill one hole though the rubber and into the frame keep an eye on where you have just drilled still holding the rubber in place and then finding the hole again put the screw in ( when you take the drill out of the rubber the hole Will disappear) may be a good idea to have Danni help you, just trying to help you. Might be able to help with back seat if interested, Roger from UK.
Dan ! I in love with my 56 2 dr wagon , and always kinda wondered why you didny fall in love with YOUR Nomad ! She Lookes Awesome , And I’m so Glad you Fell in love with here . She is the real deal , she Was a Little less incomplete when you started , Title and a Vin # is what you once said you bought. But , You and Danny restored a for sure goner , Almost every thing is replaced but like A pillar and B and c pillars . YOU SAVED HER BUDDY , YOU DID THAT . I HOPE YOU ARE AS PROUD OF YERSELF AS I AM OF YOU ,! I’m buying my hard to find 56 wagon bumper next week , then all I need is front chrome hood bar , and side moldings but I’ll ad that as I can get , restore , while really tiny event , started Saturday it’s cold and wet here , so not out side much yet, and while you have a Garage , all I have is a double car carport to work in , so when they bag on you for all you got , or have, teller you know a guy doin 56 2 dr wagon , in a open carport , with a 35 yr old Craftsman compressor. And a Love Affair with a 56 Chevy 2 dr Wagon. Lol best thoughts and regard’s to You , and Danny , oh vice grip , and Mosrkey, to revive my restore gene , and I’m going for it . God Bless ya all and yer love for yer 55 nomad. Thank You , William . AKA CrazyWillie
It would be like 10k to get nice chrome for it, and it still would be rough in a lot of places. It looks great as it is! Will get more attention than a random clean nomad too
WOW, the Nomad looks great. i always think back to what you started with and how you got it where it's at today. It is definitely a keeper and deserves to be driven.
Amazing the change in appearance after just the vent and the lower chrome trim ... Sure makes a world of difference and it goes without saying the rear glass/trim install rock !!
Dan's factory window installation, looks great, the car really pops man, I couldn't sell it if I were me, only if I needed money real bad could I do it & then it would hard, the Nomad represents the true hot rod of that era!
Looking so good! Great job saving a rare and special car... I definitely know how you feel about installing windshields; probably the most nerve-wracking part of reassembling an old car. It's also one of the most satisfying things to pull off, though! Cheers from Alberta...
Dan . For what you started with ? THAT ,"roof with a title" , is Now a fully fledged , frame off restored , 55 Nomad ! New frame , floors , door , quarters , engine , trans , brakes , drive shaft , exhaust , rear end , front end , springs , GLASS , & title , Nomad ! Newest 55 Nomad on the planet , Canadian built , & documented ! To say that this is the best that car has looked since you drug it home , would be the grossest of sarcastic understatements , bordering on outright stupid . WOW ! Just , WOW . That green glass actually makes the car perfect . LOL ! Keeper Sleeper !
Went thru hell with windshield replacment on my 55 2Door Post n 2016 turned out windshield was 1 1/2 wider at the lower corners Chinese shield.I spent over two hours trying to get it to fit.I did two shields before on my resume on tri-fives never had a problem with GM glass. Measured original 55 glass lucky I had it to measure still in one piece and measured it to confirm the oversize of the Chinese glass.Went back to the local Tri-five dealer with the old glass too so they could see for themselves. They then gave me a Pilmington brand from Mexico for the same price around $200 & it fell in place like yours in 5 minutes,HAA!. This is what you have to deal with with fixing old cars today you just deal with it.... Glenn
But being Canadians from Winnipeg, they are unaccustomed to the heat south of the 45th parallel. They would need a window AC unit and a small generator to sleep in the car. Having lived close to the Canadian border, I have become accustomed to the cold as well. I feel their discomfort... for about three days then I get used to it and am cold when I get home.
Dan you have done a great job of bringing this Nomad back from the dead and it looks so cool you and Dani will look so cool driving that around in it. I would have a hard choice which car to bring on the power tour the wagon or the Nomad 👍♥️
It pays to buy quality parts when it counts. That windshield went in flawlessly Dan. She looks great out there in the weather and sounds great and looks great. Keep up the good work 👍✌️🇺🇲
You've done a heck of a job on this thing and I've enjoyed watching you do it and I will enjoy watching you do the interior you do great work at budget prices like you say it's a beautiful car
Awesome video as always Dan. I love this friggin car bro. One of the coolest iconic potential hot rod cars ever developed. Totally love that body style. Awesome build so far. Totally love the channel. Keep On Motoring Brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Dan you have done yourself proud I remember wot the Nomad was like when you started I salute you but to be honest I would have liked to have seen proper paint job but that's just me it still looks so cool
I have a '56 210 wagon. It took months to get a new windshield in. It came out of/produced by a company in Minnesota. It went in without much of a fight, good product, and we redid the dash/painted it before dropping the windshield in. I just installed a new front bumper on Saturday. The three-piece chrome bumpers are in stock, as are the mounting brackets, but new bumper guards have been unobtainium for a year now. Luckily, the old ones were salvageable. Interior is about six months out and Vintage Air units (I'm building this for my dad) take a little while too, but well worth the wait. I need to install a new headlight, and those appear to be on backorder too.
Dan.... It is great to see how you have bonded with the Nomad. You didn;t give up on her and now you have her just the way you want her. I would call her Ratty Chic. No you wouldn't lose her in the Walmart parking lot amongst the Kias and the mini vans. You did it like Burger King..........YOUR WAY.......
Hey Dan, If you're going to drive it to work, in the snow. Change the tires from the street slicks to some tires with tread. Don't want to hear or see it wrecked. Love your channel, videos, and all the work you do to your hot rods. Take care and be safe.
At 26:30; Watching you improvise the door trim reminded me of a program I saw about Cuban (in Cuba) vehicle owners, maintaining, repairing or restoring, their cars before the embargo was lifted. ;-)
Nomads and Pontiac safaris. We're still around when I was in high school (66, 67 and 68 then off to Vietnam.) Owned 2/55 Chevrolets. The first one four-door 265 automatic cost me $125. The second one 55 two-door coupe 265 3-speed on the floor a real hot rod! Lol. Enjoy your stuff Dan.
This Nomad is the perfect driver as you said. I understand not wanting it so perfect that you wouldn't drive it and cars need to be driven to love them. I personally never saw what you started with and would love to see this build from thje start
Take a bow and a victory lap on the Nomad. You earned this one the hard way! Do you see yourself topping this build by starting with even less? I think not.
Glass is a pain at first until you get thrown into it, sink or swim live and learn, car is looking good as it comes together, good thing you have Dani to back you up through the good and bad.
love it!!! that car looks great, and we are only 55 day till spring. You could make the back a sleeper then take it on power tour and sleep in the back. Thanks for sharing keep it going .
I never thought of us getting in the way like that but a few thousands in that tiny garage might be cumbersome. That is the best Nomad based on a vin plate and a roof panel I've ever seen. Congratulations to Dan and Danni for the fabulous job on that Nomad runner!
Just what you said , freakin cool, i love it. The Nomad is great , you always have a solution for a problem. Keep on doing what you do . Thanks for the video 👌
Your defiantly showing that Ole car more love than it's seen in years I watched the video when you first got it she's looking amazing come paired to what it was when you got it keep it up brother
u always make me feel good watchin your vids... i found out today that the shop i paid to rebuild my 350 basically did not do any measuring or adjusting and well...wiped my cam...engine is toast..sparkles everywhere.... #hotrods
I think what you may have there may be the last remaining bits of a padded dash although I have never seen a 55 with one. Nomads did not necessarily all come with padded dashes (my 57 did). If 55 is similar to 57, regarding padded dash trim, check at the extreme ends, by the vent windows, and see if there are metal ‘end caps’ there instead of the usual flat trim bits. Padded dashes were capped at the ends. Or just look at the cowl tag and see if it says ‘DP’
Your '55 gasser has been my favorite since the beginning, but holy shit I'm in love with this thing. Tailgate trim, and a rear bumper will finish off the look!!!
It's looking good! I picked up a couple cheap double suction cups with handles at P-Auto, they work great for putting in windshields etc. You can have them on the inside to pull on while roping in glass, or on the outside to set glue in stuff in place. Keep up the good work.
You Dan are the only one I've heard discuss this glass problem. I ordered 5 windshields from various places, two from Acg. 3 I was able to send back. 2 in the dumpster. No help from anyone to remedy this. I drove 300 miles to get an original used one, fit perfect! I would happily buy a new one but the other companies wont even measure for me.T hanks Dan!

Just had to jump in .You guys putting the glass in the green 56 wagon .I'm happy to see it . Great jobs . Dannie & good job bobblehead Jesus hot rod Dan Dan

Absolutely right man 👍 👍
You built from a bucket of rust, she's a gem! I would be proud as a new parent of this classic!
You saved this car from the inevitable doom of the crusher. Right on to you, Dan!
I love your renewed interest in the nomad. Make it what you want and drive it like hell! That’s what I would do.
I can't believe the transformation from rusted out bucket of sheet metal to this. Great job!
Love the nomad. Very sweet looking! Great job, Dan. Don't let the "experts" get under your skin. Love watching your channel.
Dan, that Nomad looks kick ass! You've done an amazing job on it! Saved another one from the crusher. Keep on keepin on.
Dan, that might be hotter than the 55 sedan I bought as my first car in 85. I need that in my life so I can justify my bad decisions.
DD, thanks for working on the Nomad! The vehicle is starting to look mean and cool 😎. Keep up the good work and remember to keep it fun and appreciate what you have. Take care!!!

If you watch some Half Ass kustoms videos, he shows how to make your own wing windows. Neat stuff. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎

I can't say I've seen a Driver Nomad until now. Nomads (Queens) yes. But I have to say you must have the one and only Driver Nomad!. Outstanding Dan
Love it. Paint it in the spring with a roller.
Your '55 gasser has been my favorite since the beginning, but holy shit I'm in love with this thing. Tailgate trim, and a rear bumper will finish off the look!!!

But d d Speed Shop Dan has a little better vedios .then trying to keep up bad Chad's vedios .from Flint Michigan Gordon
A wise choice on buying the glass... Like everything, the quality of glass varies greatly. This is NOT the place to save a few pennies.. It only takes one little boo-boo to ruin your whole day. Those quarter-windows terrify me. Good luck. The car is coming together and looking great...
I absolutely love the Curves Along that Body Line, piece of Art in my Mind
That's an awesome Nomad! You did a fantastic job on it! Thanks for sharing! 😎👍
I can't believe the time line and the work you was able to acomplish. proof that nose to grindstone can work in your favor 👍👍
It looks great! The glass and complete the look!

Yes keep the Nomad drive and enjoy it , you would probably never have an other one !!! Love it wish it was mine !!
Bad ass!!!!! Exactly how you should of done it from the beginning such a transformation 😍
"Buy it dinner first!" LOL I LOVE Danni. That shit was epic funny.
What a different look the glass makes, great job D an D.
Glass changes a tri 5 big time!
Hey Dan
I will just keep saying this; "She is Beautiful!" You have built a great car.
Take care
That car is bad ass! Love it ! Awesome job Dan!
I'm convinced Danni does all the work and these videos showing Dan working are a complete deep-fake.
I Hope you were kidding.
You might be right, Danni sings to the garage gnomes, gives them some Tim Hortons, and they get to welding and sanding. They'll do anything for their queen Danni.
No doubt, can't trust these Frostbacks
Why should this be any different than any automotive show you see on TV ?
@@edc6333 I've never heard the term Frostback used for us Canadians before lol! Love it
