  • A bit of a nightmare, these things can send you in different directions , I got there in the end. A lot of work and patience. REMOVE BATTERY AND TRAY. Don’t struggle. Hope you get something from it.

      Fill up and a couple of minutes at 2000 revs. Worked out ok. I was quite surprised.👍

    My thermostat seems to be leaking from I guess between it and the plastic housing or from the oil cooling pipe. I had them done few years back. Didn’t expect that to be leaking but here we are. No doubt I’ll be paying stupid money to have it sorted 😒

      I hate plastic housing, always seem to crack, it was probably overtightened and slowly got worse. Shouldn’t be much more than a couple of hundred.

      @SaucyBegger25 you could do it yourself, with a decent torx set. Save you a few quid. Cost you a 100 for a new full thermostat assembly and the top pipe aswell, which will break.

      @@drivewaydiyer6504that top pipe the guy at another garage said will break too. Stupid design all together. I’ll just get my garage to sort it. They lend me a car too. I’ve got the tools to do it and could probably do it but if anything goes wrong I’m screwed

    Great video. I am about to start this journey myself. One question. Did you figure out why the fan didnt kick in?

    • @drivewaydiyer6504
      @drivewaydiyer6504  ปีที่แล้ว

      The fan was working, I expected it to kick in at a lower temperature. Zafira’s run a lot hotter. I took out all the relays and fuses, cleaned them up and put them back. The fans been fine. I suspect the a/c not pressured enough for it to cycle, which is my next job.

      @@drivewaydiyer6504 yeh my fan works when removed from the car but not when sat in traffic, i get a check engine light which disappears if i cycle the ignition

      I suspect it’s the coolant temp sensor, might be worth checking that out first. Do you know if there’s any codes stored?

    • @drivewaydiyer6504
      @drivewaydiyer6504  ปีที่แล้ว

      Check all your fuses and relays too. Coolant level. Do a pedal test to see for stored codes. What engine is yours?

    Any chance of a video regarding a problem EGR valve? Mine keeps saying airflow problem despite had two new ones fitted recently. I've had to bypass it, just to get the car going again.

      Have cleaned out the adjacent channels. Apparently they get really choked up.

    Hello
    I hope you can help me I’m having a lot of issues with my thermostat housing I need help ?
    Basically before Christmas I was getting the engine light come on the dash I had the code reader and it told me it was the temperature sensor I got that done then a week later it came on again and told me engine temperature sensor malfunction so I cleaned the code and was ok about 4 days then I noticed the driveway under the car was wet I looked and took it to a local garage near me I
    Booked the car in for a new thermostat and housing all in one piece when the car was there thay gave me a call and told me they got sent the rong one from there supplier so it was put back on but was leaking a lot more I took the car to 4 different garages and they all got sent the rong part the part I need is what you replaced but the question is what about the egr valve where dose that go because the one you put on don’t look like the egr can fit aswell. Please help

      Not sure why they keep getting it wrong. There are different types of. The one you see on the video, is for a 1.6 2013 model. The CTS is built in to the unit. This is just the thermostat and not egr. Might be worth taking the original unit yourself and making sure you get like for like. I’m surprised they tried to fit the incorrect unit, though.

      The thermostat opens between 90 and 105 degrees Celsius depending on what type of thermostat you have.

      Yes it did, all the codes disappeared on the pedal test and it runs lovely. After fitting it may take a couple of days for a computer relearn.

      Dont thank me yet, it lives between the starter and block. Ps. Thermostat seal was in but squashed flat and its possible you might have created a new leak if you didnt replace the seals on the silver oil cooler pipe. Ask me how i know.

    • @drivewaydiyer6504
      @drivewaydiyer6504  ปีที่แล้ว

      The thermostat all in and working, I was worried about the lower pipe , but it’s fine. Shortly after I had a 0303 code and the car ended up chugging a bit. Replaced the coil and the car is flying. I’m hoping the crank code was a result of everything else. We’ll see.
