I bet if he had to choose between playing the sax with Gadd, Tee and company...or teaching geography, he would go with the latter. Nothing compares to the excitement of learning where countries/states/cities etc. are located (IMO).
It is interesting. I think Steve only had that thing going with Tee's playing, not even with Chick or others. They match perfectly in emphasis and style in my view.
I was a Miami drummer 70-80's and that was the sound in clubs with live musicians. We use to carbon these guys I was a Gadd clone. They were the MASTERS they still are. Still hurts!! They do it effortlessly...❤💖❤
Richard Tee, what an immense talent. Just like all the guys , every one aligned, on this stage here. Extraordinary playing all round but the best thing for me is the joy on their faces playing together. That is the real magic. Fabulous "stuff".!

Bass player’s shirt and ponytail combo is really something. Takes me back. That weird transition year 1990. I remember thinking to myself ‘wow it’s the 90’s!’ And here we are 33 years later.
I love going back n time and watching these musicians give it all they got! Steve Gadd on drums and Will Lee have never lost an inch of their musical abilities and neither has Tom Scott on sax and John Tropea on guitar. What a tight crew! John Guchone, Amplius Music
Tee not a day goes by when I don't think of you, your music is timeless like it was recorded yesterday Iam as a pianist indebted to you and your music god bless you Stuffy
Came here from another video. Like with any good, semi-complex music, I didn't fully appreciate it until my 5th listen through, when you start to get the structure and what's coming next. Brilliant. That piano section working it's way up to the incredible sax explosion has a strong classical ascending-descending chord progression, got a little emotional. The relationship between piano and percussion is unreal here.
I feel like I'm too old to hear something life changing. I wish someone had played this for me in the 90's so I could have spent the past 25 years knowing exactly what I wanted to play when I grew up. Tomorrow's practice session I'm learning those changes. I also love the giant smiles on everyone's face, and Tyler the Creator killed it on the congas.
Richard Tee was a genius that was gone too early. His work on Simon and Garfunkel's Concert in Central Park is really amazing. His playing was the soul of that concert.

That version was awesome but didn't have the great Steve gadd or will lee :)

I honestly thought you meant the youtuber tom Scott lol
Tom Scott, Marienthal, Brandon Fields...
That solo was incredible.

The drum/piano breakdown was a trademark thing of most performances with Gadd and Tee. Watching them interact was magic.

Will Lee, one of the session greats.
