    I’ve lived in the area all my life but had only caught glimpses of the depot while travelling on the Central Line. Had no idea it was so big, it extends almost as far as Ruislip station ,about a mile away,where there is a rail spur. During WW2 antiaircraft guns were manufactured there for the Royal Navy.

    Thanks for the video. Great little insight to the local depot to me.
    The air base is very mixed in its use. RAF flights and government personnel flights and private jets. Plus it’s the training school for number of RAF units.
    The depot is a tube depot for the central line and is a infrastructure depot for the tube network, and your correct it’s not British Rail.

    As well as being a Central Line passenger train depot Ruislip Depot is the Underground’s track maintenance capital. Other depots are involved but everything revolves around Ruislip. The yellow battery locomotives you saw are used on all Underground lines. They haul a multiplicity of wagons around the system and can run on traction current (in between passenger trains) or, using the Batteries built into them, when traction current is off. The area you visited is mainly dedicated to loading renewals materials onto wagons and unloading old materials returned from a worksite. The scale of the place reflects the huge size of the Underground and there’s always something needing fixing up somewhere on the Tube!

    Another excellent show,, I have nothing but respect for the way you handle yourself,, as for being boring on the contrary,, as a retired driver you’re channel is more realistic than so many others,, what you show is exactly what happens,, I worked in the Northern Territory,, Western Australia and outback Queensland,, all road train work but believe me it’s a whole lot easier than the places you go and the regulations you have to deal with,, I’m looking forward to your next show,, you drive safe 🇦🇺🇬🇧

    Love your vlogs always look forward to seeing New one's coming out. I totally agree with you about the parking fees, its complete a rip-off, there's nowhere really for trucks to park safely & for the price they charge in truck stops there should be 24h armed patrols. But' then the whole country's a rip off isn't it!.

    Welcome to the London Borough of Hillingdon. The home of the only RAF base and runway within the M25. This airport was used to bring the Queen and the Princes of Wales home for their funerals. It was the base for the Polish fliers during WW2 hence the junction on the dual carriageway is called the Polish war memorial.

    Hi from France, great little video, just a point about the security thing ,i used to run to England from France when i worked for Norbert Dentressangle back in the late '80's, it's nothing new and i think that's what the problem is,it's not much better her in France,no-body seems to care,execpt when it starts to get expensive,then it becomes pass the buck (if you know,you know)Parking was always a problem in the U.K.,probably still is,most likely will even worsen,here it's hard to find parking at night.
    Great little chanel.

    • @GBtrucklady
      @GBtrucklady  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think here in UK drivers get the wrong idea that things are different in France or other parts of Europe. The job is the same so the problems are the same. There is a desperate lack of safe parking everywhere. The only plus point in Europe is that most parking is free. When in UK or anywhere you are paying so much to park you would like to think you and your vehicle are safe, unfortunately this is not the case.

Loved how the van disappeared all of a sudden🤣 and also the squirrel, or was it Road Runner with Wiley Coyote after him somewhere🤣. I guess the guy on the forklift is learning the trade. Welcome to England..pay a fortune for insecure parking..
    Nearly 20 years ago I collected my new unit/trailer and ran empty to Thurrock, paid for parking at the Cafe and went to the pub..the food was better..I opened the trailer door's and took the poles out so they could see it was empty a mile away.. Someone overnight slashed the curtains 30 time's on each side just out of spite, had to replace them..

How about this: Any owner/operator of a parking facility for HGV vehicles charging over 15 pounds shall provide armed security during hours of darkness. In lieu of security they shall carry liability insurance sufficient to cover damages or loss to any parked vehicle up to 5 million pounds.

We are pushed out of everywhere and Cherwell services like all the others get that rammed on a night you struggle getting out if you are starting early, as people park anywhere so the figure you said you could probably put a good 30 or 40 more on top of that but then again I don’t need to tell you that.
