Great review Thomas. Just purchased the base Macan in Carmine Red here in the U.S. and I love it ! But looking forward to the all electric Macan in 2021. I also own a Jaguar I Pace, and the torque and acceleration of the electric motors, in addition to the environmental benefits it offers are unbeatable. Looking forward to this technology as Porsche expands it's line of electric vehicles.

I like the 2L with EV
Such an expensive car and yet it shows all those button blanks on the center console. For shame! Instead, Porsche should use different trim pieces to hide the fact that some options were not selected.

Nice review. Good point at 9:28 Porsche makes you pay extra for almost everything.
There's a lot that is standard. If you buy the base Macan with no options, it is still an excellent-driving vehicle, and at that price, probably the best vehicle one can buy for that money.
Great detail review. I bought a 2017 base Macan it’s great as daily suv. I should have gotten the S version for more power but as a second car it’s good enough. I just have to turn the Sport mode and it helps when you rev it high. It’s still have the Porsche DNA.

I"ll go with the 6 cylinder when I buy one in several years. because of the weight factor which justifies the extra cost. The 4 is OK for daily driving especially around town. I understand the Turbo might be dropped and the GTS may get the Turbo engine. Also, I heard Porsche is upping the horsepower for the base and S in 2022. Good review as always.

Concerns with the 4 cyl would be noise, vibration, turbo lag, smoothness of acceleration. I would also be interested about vehicle performance in hot weather and hot weather with the AC on. It's a shame that Porsche can't offer all Macans with 6 cylinder engines - and at a more advantageous price point. CAFE regulations may not permit that - but perhaps the 6 cyl with hybrid to improve fuel efficiency.

Hi! I'm confused. Is this a 2019 Porsche Macan or 2020 (per the title)? The larger screen + taillight were new in the 2019 model, not the 2020. The 2020 Macan is no where to be found on Porsche's website as of now.
If you order the Macan now, it will already be the 2020 model. This is the facelifted model. Automotive industry logic is always 1 year ahead to signalize that you are buying the new model, now the outgoing one
@@autogefuel Thanks for the reply! I've ordered the 2020 but I don't see/know for certain what the differences between 2020 and 2019 models are, as nothing official has been announced. The features described in this video match the features described in an older video for the 2019 - th-cam.com/video/M2piaG8hvFs/w-d-xo.html so I'm still confused about what's actually different or "facelifted" in the 2020.

Simply put it the 2020 and 2019 are identical. It just the model year number changed, but nothing changed between 2019 and 2020. The only change their was is from 2018 - 2019.

This vehicle 80 k in germany. V6 full spec u can also push to 90
better to go with the new 3.0 L V6 extra performance almost same fuel consumption

The Macan 4-Cylinder is really a waste of money, with $7600 USD more you get the Macan S V6. $7600 is not very little money but if one is already spending so much on a 4-Cylinder, why not just wait a few months save a little more and go for the V6
I bought the 4-cylinder Macan and I spent $5k USD less with some nice options than I'd have spent on a Macan S with zero options... plus I visit gas stations much less frequently than I would with the S (due to better gas mileage), and the S doesn't accelerate that much better than the base Macan does (I test drove both extensively). And I have a smile on my face everytime I drive my base Macan. The base Macan is very peppy and great to drive at high speeds.

@@user-zo7sh4gk8h Zero problems with 34k miles in 2.5 years ... I had some "typical" brake-squeal problems in the first month or two, but that went away by itself.
@@amsterdamcreative Absolutely! So glad that I didn't spend more money on an "S". But I would not buy any Macan again with an ICE in it; I am considering the forthcoming Macan BEV, if I don't buy a Cross Turismo instead... ICEVs are sooo 20th-century, and I'm among the growing number of people who want to leave ICEVs behind... Our RAV4 Prime has better acceleration from stop than does the Macan S, with that electric boost and no turbo lag...

I think the interior is the only good thing. The rear from the oldest model had more character. And Thomas didn't forget about the new 991 gear shaver.

Which of the competitors offer better rear leg room ?
The 3-pair VW Tiguan Allspace, Skoda Kodiaq, Seat Tarraco. Way more legroom. Although not exactly the same direct competitor though. Direct competitor would be BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5, Lexus NX. We also have reviews of those.

Good advert .You are supporting Porsche sales but...In my opinion Porsche should not follow steps of other big German manufacturers like BMW, Merc or Audi. It looks natural for manufacturer to sell more cars however in the case of the mentioned above car producers it came at the high price. They lost this feel of uniqueness, prestige, quality and sometimes ability to design nice cars. Because of that I have stop buying them some time ago. Fortunately there are some other manufacturers which can offer high quality cars exist . The Porsche is the last one from German brands worth buying .I own the previous generation Boxter with 6 pot engine. I was asked at least three times during recent service if I wish to upgrade . The answer was of course no .Why ? Because if you can afford to buy a car at this price level it must be fully premium and exceptional. By the way their dealership was full of 2l Boxters so it was not suprising at all. I was given present model for the service time which I drove 2 days. Unfortunately conclusion was that if you decide to go for 2 l petrol engine you will be better with Golf .Porsche with 2 l petrol engine is incomplete package anyway. But there is another problem with Macan .It has been on the marked for a long time so I was looking forward for the new model to upgrade my everyday SUV. Unfortunately the new model will be electric only and production of the present model will continue altogether with the new model for some time. So the question is do I really need to buy an old model? If I have to buy electric will rather go for less expensive car from different brand.
So in my opinion do not buy a car which can cost you regrets every time you hear its engine noice and realise that it is not quicker than Golf.
Well we are always giving pros and cons of the car... saying that Porsche prices are not right is not exactly advert for Porsche ;-)
For this particular model only I agree. But Porsche like a brand ( in particular part of the VW brand ) must give customers some premium and exclusivity feel. They can achieve it offering high quality product at the adequate to quality price and excellent service. Otherwise customers will go somewhere else. Hoping that they are not going to offer equal to a-class or 1 series models.
it costs too much to repair and maintain after warranty. its a $40k car. how many thousands of dollars would you spend repairing it? obviously this car is meant to be their economical seller for those who are not looking for much performance. porsche should have made this one all electric to lower those after warranty costs.
