  • It's clear using a slider is optimal for shooting long range. So finding a way to perfect the sight tape is vital to me. This is not a how to video at all. It's simply a check in on my pursuit to chase after greatness in archery. I'm open any suggestion and tips if anyone has them. Feel free to email or leave it in the comments.
Thanks for taking the journey with me.

I have always used the drag offset in Archers Advantage as it allows me to create my sight tape as it is rather than as it "should be" !

I'm not sure I know what that feature is. Is it actually called drag offset? What is the benefit to it exactly? (I'm legit asking) please share. I wasn't to find the best way to make a tape.

I suppose it may not still exist ! But you give/gave it the marks for three different sight marks and it extrapolates the rest of the marks, I usually go with 20, 60 and 100 (just because it should be as close as possible), but it will take 20, 40 and 60 and it will give a solid guess out to 100

I give it a physical measure (usually in mm), for the gaps between 3 marks usually 20, 60 and 100 (20, 40 and 60 works but less accurately) and it extrapolates to the other unspecified distances (with 100 as a given the marks between should be relatively constant, if 60 is max then there is some guesswork from the accuracy of the mark provided and the distance beyond it that offer to be estimated )

With 5 (or 6 ?) Tapes around the given initial estimate one of the tapes is unusually very close
The other thing that I do is to laminate the tapes in plastic and screw them to the sight bar (as long as I place it close to the middle and fail to punch a hole thru the plastic and the paper there is never any water ingress, if I get special and have to place a hole in the paper thru the plastic I use some super glue to mitigate the potential future water, but its suboptimal !) Both my Shibuya and my old Sure-Loc had metal sight tapes to allow screwing on (my old Hog Father just had to be taped down and was known to slip if I twisted the wheel on the tape)

@@colingregory7464 OH yes yes they still do that for sure. I use that feature on both of them. and dude the laminating definitely is a good move. my paper is label paper so it tends to not smear or leak. So thats been good. but I love the tips and tricks. All of that makes perfect sense to me. I legit love all the details you gave.
Thank you you for taking the time to share all of the details.
Have you tried precision cut. I find the user interface to be more user friendly. I am not sure which one is a better software but ease of use definitely goes to Precision Cut.

I just used archers advantage to make a sight tape for my bow. I ended up with a tape that is six fps slower than my actual velocity to get it hitting right. I do like the features of it though.

Yeah I don't have a Chrono 😥😥 so I can't compare speeds. But the more and more I use it the more I'm falling in love with it. Since this video I've made 2 more tapes for different reasons and have gotten it very accurate.
Something I'm learning is that it's all trial and error for the most part. Just gotta put in the time. Which is why I like the "sight in" print out option that gives you 5 tapes in a general range to make sure you get the right one. I'd definitely suggest that if you continue with printing your own tapes.
I only learned that tip because they commented on this video and told me about that feature. Which also makes me even happier to use their program because they are trying to make it better. So Ever since, it's been way smoother and way less of a headache.

Hey William! Just a heads up, we do have a ‘sight-in’ print mode that prints 5x tapes, each with a 0.003” delta in the sight-in marks. This can be super helpful to really dial in the caliper measurements to make sure the resulting tape EXACTLY matches your sight-in marks!

    • @walderman55
      @walderman55  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is definitely helpful. The only issue I run into now is getting it to fit on my 4 by 6 Printer/packing paper fully with all 5 tapes at 100 scale. Not due to size of the actual tapes. It's simply because the sight tapes are not centered on the printout which my printer tends to crop from middle out when I keep it at setting 100 with no scale to fit. Is there a way to combine the custom feature that I can relocate the sight tapes to the center of the printing paper while also still getting the multiple sight tapes printed?
Either way this was definitely helpful. I assumed that was another scaled site tape for the actual sight in process that would still need the calipers as. So that you for taking the time to comment and help me out.

@@walderman55 I think the best way to go about it right now is to first print out the ‘sight-in’ tapes on normal paper. Find the best match and update your sight-in measurements if necessary. Then, print the final tape on the nice paper.
Always working on ways to refine the process though, so definitely noted!

That was the exact work around I was just thinking about but wanted to make sure you didn't have any other pro tips to be able to get it done more effectively. Thanks again for the help. I love the software so far. It seems to be the software I am going to keep for the long haul. @@PrecisionCutArchery

Man could you let us know what that printer you’re using is?

It's a Rollo Label Printer. I'll do better about actually showing it next time I make a sight tape. thanks for the watch.
