On Deep canyons cut into the Andes cordillera from the north to the south of Peru. In order to supply the gold mines, tend their vines or quite simply gain access to their villages, people have no choice but to take the most improbable of roads, hewn out of the rock. Major companies always find their place at the end of the road, attracted by the fabulous natural resources of the country, either under the ground with its wealth of precious metals or in its waters teeming with fish. However, it’s rare for all this wealth to benefit the lowly workers, the men and women who have to bend double to work deep in the shafts, scratching at the earth amidst clouds of ammonia, or risk their lives at the end of a 200’ rope, for a handful of euros. From the Maranon River valley to the Cotahuasi canyon, by way of the Paracas desert, this Impossible Road makes its way through a Peru of magnificent landscapes, but where life comes at a high price…

Indeed ,almost all these docus are worth seeing a few times over .
Sure appreciate the efforts of the camera crew who have nerves of steel, taking great risks themselves in order to bring these docs to the public

i like the humane style of this documentary sharing with us the obvious difficulties in the lives of these people and their constant efforts to improve their lot. i feel for them and their children that they are striving for. i wish them good health and success.
'Dangerous Roads' on the Philippines is pretty good in that sense too.
After watching this I will never complain about being lockdown during the corona virus, We take so much for granted!!

Maybe you know it or not, but your Lastname sounds as similar to Nazca ... I mean Nazca Lines ...
The Inca didnt show up til about 1250. One of the cradles of civilization is Peru and the norte Chico people just outside of lima date back about 5 thousand years. From there you have all the coastal tribes like paracas(with the long skulls) nazca and the line, chamur with Chan Chan in Trujillo that is the largest Adobe city ever found anywhere, mocha the the many highlands tribes like the wari, chapacoya, and many other. The really old ones are by lake titikaka. The number of jungle people is countless as tribes are very small.

Thats nothing. Go to bolivia outside of la paz. Both countries its sketchy on most mountain road..you can take a tour from la paz to ride a bus or bikes on the death roads there. I took the bike ride down hill thinking that way I wouldn't be stuck in a van. Oops you take a van back up to la paz. Really pretty ride though. I would read or sleep on the buses cause you didn't want to see the road.

People in the Andres are the most hard working, they chew coca leaves and drink cañazo (alcohol made beverage) to be able to work for long shifts on the fields! If you ever in Peru and feel altitude sickness make sure you have some coca leaves it will help you a whole lot same thing for hikes in the Andes this even takes altitude fear away lol
I could barely walk in Puno,let alone do any work.
I regret I did not try the Coca leaves to alleviate my distress.
Is the coca leaves similar to chewing tobacco or cocaine?
@@Johnny53kgb-nsa Well I´ve never chewed tobacco before but it gives you the same feeling when cocaine goes down ur throat... It´s less bitter but it will numb your tongue and throat for sure you don´t eat the leave you chew on it and then spit it after you've drink all the "juice" the leaves have. Difference is that this is not mixed with the tons of sh!t that cocaine is mixed with so it´s not the same feeling but for sure makes you stronger and fearless
@@Johnny53kgb-nsa I never tried cocaine but I often have coca leaves in my tea . It calms you down and it’s very good for digestive system 😅.
I think new generation now is hard to live here as well. As the government will go improve the ways there how can a family improve living life like the man going doing to the sea hope for their government try to improve the hardest road so the people can go easily do what is good for their life situation blessings from our almignty god go with them
