Laos Wonderland (full documentary) - Go Wild

  • Southeast Asia at its best. 85% of the country is untouched nature, widespread forests, steep mountains and wide river valleys, but also cool high plateaus and savannahs. The primeval forests support a fauna like something out of a fairy tale, with elephants, tigers, leopards, and some of the rarest animal species on the planet. Species never seen by humans are discovered at regular intervals. In recent decades, the few large mammals to be described for the first time were all found in Indochina and experts assume that most of them are at home in Laos: wild oxen such as the saola and kuprey or the truong son munjak. No outsider has ever seen a living specimen of the latter; its existence is only known indirectly, through skeletons, horns and bag that are occasionally found in remote villages. And there is the Mekong, one of the last untamed rivers on Earth. Fed by hundreds of tributaries, it is one of the richest freshwater systems on the planet, comparable only with the Congo or Amazon. This is where the Mekong catfish lives. At 3 meters long and weighing in at 300 kilograms, this monster must be the largest freshwater fish on earth.

My girlfriend is from Laos. I’ve learn’t so much from the forest, her friends, her family. First time I went to see her family in the forest all the villagers came out to greet me, so welcoming. I think they were overwhelmed because I eat local food and asked many questions and genuinely interested in their life. Can’t wait to go back..
I’m slowly learning to speak Laos. I can now say I love you in Laos. 🤪❤️

I found that the documentary was packed full of amazing facts. The nature shown in this video was breath takingly beautiful , the people of Laos are truly blessed with wildlife and marine life in great numbers. I hope that this fine land and her people will endure forever without or with little change. I really enjoyed every second of this documentary and wish to thank all the people who made this possible for us all to learn more about the great planet that we all live on and share with each other!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad was from Savannakhet and would tear up every now and then talking about it. He left in '77 at 18 and spent 3 years in the Ubon Ratchathani Camp. He used to say us Laotian people smile even when we're in pain, because there's always something that could be worse.

I used to know some Laotian people when I lived in the tropical north of Australia. They used to sell all these amazing green vegetables at the local markets, long before Puk Choy etc became more widely available. Lovely, simple-hearted people who worked hard, cared deeply, and lived a happy life. I wonder what will happen in Laos over the next few generations; we always think about the good old days, but it's so hard to return to a non-industrial lifestyle - believe me; I've tried. Couldn't handle it.

It surely has changed, many more roads are paved, prices has gone up quite a bit, especially a long the backpacker trail from Vientiane up to Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, Pakbeng, Huay Xai, or down south to Pakse and 4000 Don. But it hasn't changed THAT much in my opinion and not always for the worse. As an example the insanity in Vang Vieng 10 years ago has seriously calmed down.

God knows about the scamdemic, that are destroying people worldwide, and God is speaking, and people better listen, for Karma never loses an address. Everyone reaps what YOU have sown.
