He did a couple of things which I really like. Firstly he did the trims, it's easier to cut the trims into the wall, then cut the walls into the trim, and he advised to start the window joinery from the inside and work outwards. Not everybody does this. This guy really knows his stuff.

Liquid masking works on carpet too. Applying with a foam brush is key. Pulls right up when done, just make sure it's completely dry before removing so it comes up easier
The liquid mask alone gets this video a 👍! That is an incredible product; first time seeing it. Don't ask me where I've been--obviously not painting, lol.
Ive also used this window film for big jobs can also be sprayed from airless sprayers i love it way faster than masking Quick note do not use on textured glass
I might implement this really affordable method as well, get the customer do it so I can go to work elsewhere until they finishing the job. Then I rock up to collect the money.

Hi Mauro, you mentioned rolling the walls with a 9” sleeve but here’s the secret! 2 sizes of sleeves I use on all my paint projects. 13 mil for walls and a 19 mil for ceilings! 2 major reason they carry more paint and avoid lap marks especially on flat ceilings! Don the gooseneck guy professional painter Ottawa Canada! I do not recommend a 10 mil. Cheers!
Didn't once see the sandpaper come out. Sanding promotes adhesion on that trim and knocks off all the little fuzzies on the walls that you know are there.
I'd ruff up the surfaces first with a quick sanding. Might have considered using a primer. Cutting horizontal is the tuffest cut to do.Good tips for beginners.
I have so many questions... 0:55 But why? 3:37 Why is he pouring paint out of a different side of the can than it has already been poured out of? (3:39 Cut to him pouring out of a different can.) 3:51 What paint additive? 6:44 I agree pros don't need tape, but then why not also freehand the windows? The liquid mask might prevent paint from adhering to the edge of the glass (which seals the junction), and if you get it on the sash you'll have to touch up when it's removed.
Its nice to see a painting video where they actually remove the outlet covers. I’ve seen quite a few videos where they leave the covers on and paint around them
Test to see if old paint is oil based. Never put latex on top of oil without priming. Save final coat on baseboards till after wall painting, otherwise splatter from roller and drips happen. Most rentals in my area use flat on walls easy touch up from original bucket. Sheen paint touches can show even from same original bucket. Sheen paints are more easily washed, and usually used in personal homes, not rentals. Also if your walls are rough like old repairs, trash or uneven studs then the higher the sheen, the more you will see the roughness. Every job is going to differ depending on its situation. But, video was right on topic and educational. Yes, I know this was not a rental.
I presume some of the masking liquid gets painted over on the window frame. Does that affect the paint bonding? And what about all the fine paint spatters that fly off the roller onto your freshly painted trim? It's happened to me!
I don’t paint but when I do I spend half the time tapping ahahahah gotta get the perfect straight lines and if you put the tape around your wrist you still have both hands free and it’s easy to grab two foot section of the tape
I am going to be buying a old house, almost 160 years old. And it has some wood paneling. I am not looking to pull it down but I’d like to paint it, without the wood paneling grain showing. What would be the best method, I was thinking a wood putty.
Hello i have 3 questions 1. Semi glace white is colour only for wall or its semi glace primer? 2. The brush for windows how do u call it and how many inches 3. WHat kind of brush you use for room borders Thank you
There are several types of rubber or plastic spouts and can rim spout that make pouring paint out of the gallon into another container so that the paint doesn’t drip down the side of the can and also doesn’t sit in the rim of the can which is unecessarily time consuming and sloppy. The purpose of these videos is to show how to diy. TOH always seems to have the latest gadgets but a simple thing like a paint can spout ( available at any box store) isn’t used
Using liquid masking seems like A LOT more work than using painters tape and probably more expensive. The explanation isn’t really clear why we should go with liquid tape? I haven’t had any issues with painters tape so someone please explain
I've just painted my first room and can tell you the following. 1) Cutting with a brush is very time consuming and in my opinion does not get you a better finish than taping. Get some frog tape and put the effort in to tape off all the edges, its expensive but the finish will be pin sharp! 2) If the walls are already painted, get some sandpaper, a large sanding block and lightly sand everything you will be painting to allow the paint to bond easier and not streak. 3) Unscrew your sockets and paint behind them, dont be lazy and just masking tape them up, the finish wont be nice and its dead obvious.
@@keithupton86ku Agreed. Remove mine originally when prepping the walls. Noticed how flimsy and cheaply made they are. Masked it off for priming/painting instead.
Liquid mask is cool but I’m guessing you can’t be sloppy with it and get it on the woodwork or you’re screwed, so you have to cut that in, So thinking tape is probably the way to go

Don't you need to remove the masking paint off the 'to be painted' area before painting over with the new paint (or just paint over the masking paint anyway)? Didn't see that mentioned in the video...
I always paint the walls first and get that outta the way ( well ceilings first ) then work on my trim and never have to worry about paint splatter. It’s so simple to add something like frog tape around your window trim and then cut in with your paint it comes out perfect I don’t know why so many people are taught to do it the reverse way??? 🤔🤔🤔to each his own I guess, it just seems more logical to do the trim last!
Queeney Warren Same way pretty much. You just need to cut in with a brush a lot wider- it's best to brush around 3 inches from the edge. Then use a roller cover with a 3/4 inch nap. Half inch is fine, it just takes longer.
First get some microwave popcorn. Heat it in your microwave until all the kernels have popped. Second, place some popped kernels directly in your mouth, chewing them slightly to add saliva. This will aid in the next step. Third, spit the slightly chewed kernels all over your ceiling until it is finely coated with a light dusting of masticated popcorn. Then simply paint over your popcorn ceiling with you favorite color of paint and you're done.

Finally Mauro got a segment on TOH, guy is a pure artist if you havent seen his older works
Ankit Choubey Almost as good as Bob Ross
He's also the worlds smartest painter. Only a true master gets paid to instruct the client to do his work. 😜🤪😂👍👍👍

Exactly what paint additive did Mauro use and why? Also, what liquid mask did he use? Those Amazon links they included are outdated, sadly.

I had a heart attack when he started painting the glass window, then he said it was masking liquid. *instant relief*
Yeah until he gets some on the woodwork which then you’re screwed cause those areas won’t be covered with paint, roght?
