Jeff please let me know exactly which pole and length and cage too since those also had metal interiors and plastic and both had ball bearings. Thank you for teaching! I think it's a matter if the person can Explain very well with details. I've worked with some guys that they will "teach you" but in the end you just gotta keep up with their way of explaining things.. not everyone at a job site is meant to teach other people... Of course there be some that get frustrated trying to teach other guys, the best thing I tell people that can't explain thing to others is to just demonstrate and make sure the other person is paying close attention.

Try taping the rim of the paint can, using masking tape, then u can pour the paint and simply pull the tape up to reveal a clean rim, which allows you to reseal the can tightly and helps the remaining paint stay good longer . You can even apply the masking tape in a V configuration!

Jeff, I love watching your videos. I own A home remodeling business in Illinois since 2001. I’ve finished basements professionally for 16 years which allowed me the opportunity to have proficiency in multiple trades since my brother and I do 90% of the work ourselves. Your so thorough and explain the steps, reasons, and importantly what not to do. You are my go to video guy on home remodeling how-to.
I love the “paint a pig comment you made, perfectly stated, “lol”. My background in Painting was the trade that gave me the start in this business and it’s something I take a lot of pride in completing professionally. Your tile videos are how I discovered you and I feel like I’m listening to a real person just explaining without trying to impress anyone on how to do something correctly.
Have a great day Jeff when you read this. Keep the vids coming:)

I've been DIYing for 40 years and flipping houses for 10 and I never thought I would learn so much from watching a guy paint a 6' wall. I watched this video last night knowing I had 2 bedrooms to paint in a flipper today. I stopped at the box store this AM and bought the 2-4' extension pole and the quick lock, ball-bearing cage and man....what a difference!! It was so much quicker then my old method, which is pretty much what this guy mocked as 'laborious'. He was right. I also bought an oversized tray that holds a full gallon and between the new paining method and no need for refills, I knocked everything out super quick. Thanks so much for the advice. It's a great video and very well presented!! :)

There was an abundance of informative tips that I wouldn't have even thought to mention in a painting tutorial, and this is coming from a painter of a decade plus!
That move with the salt in the warm water to get the durby to dry faster was actually pretty dope as well and I wanted to thank you for that time saver! Greatly appreciated brother!
Tip for you in return - drop or 2 of regular Dawn dish soap when you mix your 45 min and the grease cutting agent busts surface tension on the water and eliminates pock holes in the mud and makes sanding require less pressure! Extremely helpful trick in my Arsenal so hope it helps you as well

Been painting for 16 years professionally and I'd say for the average homeowner this is a great video. It's not really how the pros do it but it's definitely very close and will give you a nice result.
Some of the differences are that we typically use 18 inch rollers because theyre faster and leave more even lines. We use mini rollers for corners and back rolling brushed areas as its faster and reduces brush marks. Also with how good modern brushes are I would use a 2 inch brush. It's smaller so it can hit tighter spots, it's lighter so less hand fatigue and they hold plenty of paint. Theres some other things too but like I said he did a good video for home owners.
Also, one hundred percent sand between coats. That's my favorite tip of his

Good to know. I'm a home owner repainting our whole house, and the 18" roller has been indispensable. I use mini rollers for the corners, and I use tape and mini rollers instead of cutting with a brush. My wife can cut in with a brush, but I suck at it. Frog Tape and mini roller for me.

Finally, a painter on a DIY channel who seems to know what he's doing. I've discovered, when I'm cutting in the ceiling or base board line, that if I keep my eye travelling along the line itself, rather than on the tip of brush or on the paint, the brush automatically follows along nicely. This has resulted in much faster and cleaner cut-ins for me.

I got a roller pole to paint my stairwell (clueless housewife here :D) and ended up using it to paint a different room on a whim and it was honestly revolutionary. You have so much more consistency of pressure and control and it's no where near as tiring (or frustrating if you're short like me, no more up and down stepstools). I'll never go without a roller pole again. I also severely underestimated how frustrating and ultimately costly cheap rollers are, the ones that don't have bearings and don't roll right, you have to put so much pressure on them they're basically trash. I just thought that was normal (-_-) @30:45 Oooooooh that corner is looking SHARP I tell ya what.
Also thanks for your content, I found you with your video on finished basements and I appreciate your honesty about old homes and finished basements. As an antique home owner it's so frustrating to deal with the modern reno/diy marketing that oversells everything.

Tip of the trade says all bolts should be put back vertically to show Professionalism

    • @williamwinder3466
      @williamwinder3466 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

2:35 The proper term is controlled voltage. Low voltage denotes "safe". You can die for just a few volts if the amps are high enough. I understand in the application the likely hood of something happening is very low, but that won't always be the case.
For currents above 10 milliamps, muscular contractions are so strong that the victim cannot let go of the wire that is shocking him. At values as low as 20 milliamps, breathing becomes labored, finally ceasing completely even at values below 75 milliamps.
As the current approaches 100 milliamps, ventricular fibrillation of the heart occurs - an uncoordinated twitching of the walls of the heart's ventricles which results in death.
Above 200 milliamps, the muscular contractions are so severe that the heart is forcibly clamped during the shock. This clamping protects the heart from going into ventricular fibrillation, and the victim's chances for survival are good.

sometimes it happens on new drywall. you prime with white tinted primer, small repairs and rub downs and touch-ups, then 1st coat with some white supermatt and voilla: screw you, quality surveyor. or even better: prime with diluted dulux supermatt or vinyl matt and if you work it in right and the driwall was good, you get extra lazy bonus. here in uk we abandoned dedicated wall primers long ago, we use cheap white matts as standard for priming drywall and plaster. but seriously, anyone does this to me on my jobs and i send him home.

I just removed two non bearing walls and one baring wall requiring 2x12x10 header. Turned out great and what a difference with the open floor plan between the kitchen and lanai.

I learned so much from you in this video. The greatest tip was "cutting in" properly. I just completed a large bedroom and a bathroom that came out really well. The amazing thing is that I didn't end up feeling stressed out and frustrated because of the cutting in that was necessary. I wasn't even intimidated by the chopped up bathroom! Thanks for everything you really made my life much easier. and My wife thinks I am amazing.

Started watching with "I know how to paint" in my brain. There's a lot I didn't know! Legitimately excited to try painting from the inside if the brush. Many thanks for the useful, insightful video!

Jeff, I thank you SO MUCH!!
I have watched SO many of your videos, I love how many tips and hacks i find. Even the things I THOUGHT I knew go so much smoother thanks to your ability to explain and interest.
Wifey, on the other hand, could do without all my 'artsy diy ideas'. Atleast theyre done well!

Good day Jeff, I’m in the process to repair the drywalls and paint my garage (the man’s cave). Went to TH-cam and when I typed drywall repair tutorial (I was looking for some tips) your videos popped up. Honestly, I watched your 2 hour video on how to repair drywall and that 2 hour went by faster than to watch the best Mission Impossible movie. Your way to describe each step of the process is really unique. Clear, precise, to the point with a touch of humour. The best DIY video I have seen so far on TH-cam. Just finished to watch one of them on the painting technique. Awesome! Can’t wait to see the rest. Thank you for sharing your experience & expertise. Your explanation are far more fluid than the Sheetrock 45 that you use ;~D. Now it’s time for me to prepare the little volcano and start the job. Rest assure, I will be your ambassador to promote your videos. Cheers! Christian.

Jeff, Thank you so much, I worked in the paint business for years at SW, but have learned so much from this video that I never knew. Made a trip to the Home Improvement store and purchased what you suggested, The biggest thing I am surprised with is the sheet rock mud, I have always purchase the buckets, and hated the waiting and tons of coats and sanding. I cannot believe it, 90min, 20min, and 45 min working times and 18 pounds of the mix for $9 vs $14 for a tub of aggravation. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, and thank you for the cleaning techniques for the the brushes and roller, I knew some but wasn't doing enough, save one of my new brushes with your info and stainless wire brush!!!

Thank you I’m a DIY and have been painting many projects. I decided just to paint the base boards, ceilings, and the walls white because it takes to long to tape. Your a great teacher thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Good job man. Video is a big success. For everybody watching... painting is hard enough as it is. Making a comprehensive video is a HUGE accomplishment. This is a very well done video. I certainly can't get in front of the camera and speak about painting as well as Jeff does here. Or at least it will take a LOT more practice.

Earlier tonight you literally saved my cookies on a laminate flooring project because, and who knew, that the instructions written by the company were total B.S. So, following your instructions, I got the hang of the click and lock method and a couple of hours later, the floor was pretty much installing itself! Tomorrow's project? Paint that same room! Thanks for BOTH videos! I am always humbled and awed to watch a pro in action.
