Hey Aaromily!! Funny story. My father-in-law burned up TWO dash fans on his GMC pickup. Well he was complaining to me about it one day and I asked him, "have you replaced your cabin air filter"? He said, "MY WHAT"?... Ya, he learned something new that day. Great video!!
You two always have so much fun in the shop no matter what the project might be. It's always entertaining to watch you work through whatever issues may arise on a project. I'm hoping to get some shop time this weekend to get the timing set on my 40 Ford pickup. I've never undertaken a project like this (fried a duraspark box last fall and rebuilding ignition system) and I'm learning a ton but need to get her back on the road. Enjoy your vacation in AR and the work trip to WI.
That oils change had me laughing because we’ve all been there. You’ve really got to keep up on the routine maintenance nowadays, it’s gotten too expensive to take them to the dealership any longer for these smaller tasks. And who could’ve guessed that the 10mm was missing, that never happens 😂😂🤣.
And once again I'm truly astounded by this content...two wonderful people being themselves and allowing us to look over their shoulders ...doing real work and making real mistakes along the way just like the real people they are !!!! love y'all
I can't help but smile. At least we have fun with you. There is a saying in Finland: It always splashes when you plaster (Sorry for the bad translation)
That is a beautiful rig and in my view, is worthy of doing what it takes to keep her on the road...within reason of course. I certainly see how this beauty fits so well into your lifestyle.
All oil, everything in the workshop has been lubricated again for a year. To clean the interior I use a 1 inch paintbrush and the vacuum cleaner for the small edges and holes.
I did the same as you did on my f150 at 60,000. I also changed the oil plug to avoid what happened to you.(Ronin quick drain plug, upr easy oil drain)remove cap attach hose and 1/4 turn is nice and clean. Your right all these vehicles are expensive and I want to make sure it is well maintained for a long life. Great video!😁👍👍
And I thought changing the ATF in my 4x4 made a mess... 🤣 You could put the oil catch pan on the transmission jack. Need to do a hood shock conversion on my 4x4. Emily is otterly adorkable as always.
We were rebuilding a friends transmission (we were kids and used a garbage can to hold the transmission upright and collect fluid). He dropped his new snap-on electric impact into the fluid. It was an hour before we realized, we thought for sure it was dead, but it still worked perfectly, just a ton quieter. Hopefully your camera is safe!
It was really fun to watch you both work together and not to hear any negative things said when the oil change didn't go smoothly 👍 Great team you both are and an example to all married couples when working together on projects 👏❤ I am sure the next time you both go somewhere in your Bronco you will be able to look at each other and say we did this together isn't it feel good
With all the plastic oil pans that I have seen on newer cars they only turn a little before coming out and they all flow like that. Don’t forget to inspect the o ring on the drain plug too. I know some fords, haven’t worked on a bronco yet, say to replace every oil change but that’s overkill.
You two are so awesome, I'm a Chevy man , but that's one good looking Bronco. I don't think it can get more beautiful than Emily , she sure is a special young lady. Lots of love from pa ❤❤❤
You guys always crack me up! The oil bath was hilarious and reminds me of my episodes under my truck. Keep up the good work and I think Fiona will look great with 37's.
If you haven’t already look into cvf racings inter cooler upgrade. It helps cool the intake charge when the Texas heat kicks in. No ecu changes. Just a more efficient cooler so the engine is happier.
Tests from more than one filter company showed that the "wet" filters are less effective than paper ones. When tested with the standard "Arizona dust" the K&N filters were something like 70% effective while paper filters are around 95%. Of course, if the car is to be driven on all paved roads one could argue that super-effective filtration isn't all that necessary. And the paper filters do restrict air flow, but only enough to reduce power by maybe 2% and that is only at peak rpm. At any "normal" power levels the difference is unmeasurable. If you are mostly racing or "performance driving" and you don't require engine longevity, the foam filters are probably just fine. I use paper in all my car, motorcycle and airplane engines.
Glad you are taking care of the Bronco. Keep it long enough and she'll be a classic and maybe just maybe hold her value after the 25yr mark. Shoot maybe this will be "the kid's" vehicle one day!By the way I like Aaron's t-shirt. We are thankful for O'Reily's partnership. Yikes that oil spill will only add character to the t-shirts. Not sure about the cameras. Hopefully, you saved them probably be ok..... just slippery for a little while.
If new O-rings come with your filters, you should always change them out. Using the old O-rings are a blowout waiting to happen. I'm guilty of not changing them one time myself. And I had a leak to start because old O-ring had a nick from the R&R of the filter cap. Enjoy your video's always !!
Love you too such a cute couple, but I have piece of ice when cleaning your vehicle you should use the air compressor and blow the dashboard center console anywhere that has sand that would make it easier and a lot better turn out.👍🏻
your episodes are always so relaxing. Just 2 decent people, wrenching, having fun and no loud crazy music with timelapses. Love it so much. @pilotreeves, when will you be flying again or is that still not possible after the accident? Love from the Netherlands
Between the goofy oil plug and your not having a roller oil pan/tank, might as well use an oil evacuator through the dipstick hole! You probably have one for your boats? Or, you could combine methods: evacuate oil from the top, then remove the plastic plug with no sploosh from below to see if there's any more to be drained.
You are making me feel better Emily! I did first oil change on our Edge ST yesterday after it was off warranty and had a similar experience when I turned the drain plug! Not quite as big of a mess, but close.
Usually pretty much any maker model in the newer generation vehicles, especially trucks and SUVs p, the dealers usually do a 50,000 Mi transmission braki in flush
You are a great team. I really love watching you two interact with each in all of your videos. Are you now using Oil-of- Reilly's on your beautiful complexion?
When I do trans case or differentials, I use the same bottle pump as u get for doing your boat out drive. More pumps but it doesn't fly apart like those transfer pumps.
Great video guys that was quite a surprise when you turned out the oil plug Em it actually made me jerk my head back but that's the fun of it made everyone laugh didn't it😊. God bless you guys see you on the next one.
Get the H. Freight Oil Drain Unit. You can hook it up to an air line and pump it back into the containers to dispose it when your through. How did I live so long without my lift and my oil drain unit???
Just a hint, non applicable with a new vehicle but, one should ALWAYS remove the fill hole on a dif or Transfer case, First. Thing is, if the fill hole is stuck or stripped, one must go through extra steps. Oftentimes, one may have to leave the oil in the dif or TC, until there are tools and/or time to deal with the bad fill plug. Just my two cents. Rock on Flying Sparks Garage!!
Well dang me some oilage!!! Bettin the auto focus is super slick n smooth now!!🤣😂🤣 And the cameraman and "pitcher" is now "juiced"!!! Best not let the league front office test ya for oilage!!! You guys have so much fun doin what ya all love!
Emily gets the money shot under the Bronco..... This is a new vehicle, but the rule of changing differential fluid is you always take out the fill plug before removing the drain plug. If the fill plug is stuck and you have already drained the fluid, you have a problem.
mhelsher - watching them I was thinking the same. My good lady and me have been together 48 years, 45 of which are marriage years. We still touch, cuddle and kiss. Love the variety of jobs you do. Keeps the interest going. Many thanks and best wishes from Newcastle Under Lyme. UK
What have we seen you guys using for lifting large heavy objects up high under the lift. . Also has a rectangular flat surface with l shackled adjustable brackets around the edge.... Oh the trans jack. Get the oil drain pan on that. Oh and always drain your oil after you remove those up top filters. The contents of the housing will drain down to the sump when you pull the filter.
That was the one struggle I had with my first Jeep…tires. Now…once I chalk tested them and set the tire pressure to about 28-30 psi they were good. Of course that is not to say everyone will have the same luck. I know from factory the ball joints and tie rod ends are plastic and they wear out quick. My first upgrade is going with Moog components.
I'm a bronco guy love the first Gen I have a 79 big block XLT right now it's still in original paint with no rust in the process of redoing it now my wife and I dated in it now I have given it to my oldest son
I bet that won't happen to that extreme again. A learning process for sure. You were making a mess no matter what that day. Laughing with you both though. 👍
You need to look into the drain pan that fits on your lift and rolls in the groves on your lift would be so much better then all you would have to do is just drain it in to a bucket to recycle the fluid nice job 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🌹🍺🍺
I was going to ask about the Oring at the filter. I always change mine. The one time I didn't it leaked something awful. My 2012 Wrangler has been great on tires this set have 8 years on them and no abnormal wear at all.
I don't know. I think I would keep the 35s change the wheels if you want. I just think that the 35 s gives it more stability because with every inch you go up you lose road stability with that wheelbase
My daily years ago I used 20 w 40 or 50,less time changing oil and more time driving, the only drawback? It would crank slower on cold days but thicker oil has its drawbacks and pluses
Just reminded me i needed to reset the service indicator and top up the "windshield juice" on my car before its annual inspection in an hour. Cheers guys 😂
Looks good..I Met you On power tour last year..and I live Around the corner from clay milligan. So I get to see the little Yellow gto more often.. have fun...😊
You should use microgaurd filters they are made by frame. You can find results for from fram filters everywhere and these probably aren't even that good.
Not to say if the engine mite be pressurized, maybe take the filter out and the oil cap off, maybe draining the oil mite, not so sprites. lol just maybe internal pressure
Back in the day I've worked for a couple of the oil change places Rapid Lube and oil which was a division of Texaco andValvoline Instant Oil Change... I've changed a lot of oil in a lot of cars.... and watching you guys change the oil in this today nothing was recognizable.... the oil plug in the plastic pan? Wow things are just totally different
Ford does have issues with the raptor sealing and leaking though. I think they have been through a version or two over the generation. As long as it's tucked up and away from rocks for any off road excursion. I wouldn't see an issue and would think it would likely warp less. I know several years ago plastic type skid plate for dirt bikes started hitting the market. I was a aluminum skid plate fan, but have been using a plastic one since 2013 with no issues all. All kinds of "well this could happen" all over the internet. Mine installs and comes off super quick for cleaning and slides over rocks way better than aluminum. Likely not a bad thing. You should name it Valdese or BP after the oil spill ;-)
I stopped doing my oil changes as things always got way too messy. I can afford to do it at the dealer so why not? Plus, if they screw something up their warranty will cover any damage.
When I was in high school, I forgot to put the drain plug back in when I changed the oil in my ‘69 F-100. Needless to say, my dad wasn’t impressed with the 5 quarts of oil on the driveway.
Thanks for sharing even when things don’t go great. That’s true character what do you do when things go wrong, and y’all def have great character. Ps, I did the shade tree t shirt, is that for sale anywhere?
Where and when you headed to Wisconsin. If it’s public, love to meet you both. Totally love your stuff. This episode prompted me to change the cabin filter in my 2008 Tahoe. Thank you😊
Amazing how the wife always compliments her husband after all those years. TRUE LOVE !!!

What I love about you two is that you love each other! After all the years!

You could put your drainpan on a transjack if you have one,to stop the splashing

Emily, when that oil drain plug let go I couldn't help but be startled also. Talk about a huge surprise!
On the oil bath air filter are made a sharp turn and Sloan the dirt out of the air oil did not get pulled into the engine

Sorry y’all I had to laugh at the oil change. Thanks for the fun video.
I just love the green color of the Bronco. I’m not normally a green car guy except the original Bullitt Mustang and your Bronco.

You need foam pad for the oil drain pan. The foam pad will keep it from splashing

Ditch the K&N air filter. They are great for racing at 10,000 rpm. At 2,500 rpm they just allow micro dust through.

Aaron, I would recommend that you get some type of anti splash mat to put on the drain pan.

K&N makes a filter you don't oil. I flew behind K&N filters on a Rotax 503 dual carb. Great company!
Looks good..I Met you On power tour last year..and I live Around the corner from clay milligan. So I get to see the little Yellow gto more often.. have fun...😊
A quality paper filter is just as good as a K&N IMO...
5-gallon oil drain pan on dolly is $59.99 at HoBo Freight. Cheap at twice the price!
We're a bronco family too
You should use microgaurd filters they are made by frame. You can find results for from fram filters everywhere and these probably aren't even that good.

They make an aftermarket replacement drain plug that makes it less messy to service.

A furnace filter cut to fit your oil drain pan will stop the splashing

Usually the difference between 75-90 and 85-90 is whether it has friction modifier for posi / limited slip or not.

Don't bleed on the car. Once a car tastes blood it will demand it all the time.

Get rid of that K&N filter. They will cause that issue because of the oil on them. Just use a standard air filter.
