Will be glad to see mine roll up on the porch! Will be here just anytime now. I've been looking for a deep, brite toned guitar. I come across this one, watched some reviews and made the decision to go ahead and buy. I haven't been playing a real long time, and had never heard of a baritone acoustic guitar. This will be a perfect fit for me.
I stumbled upon one of these today in a store and was immediately blown away. I've been doing alternate tunings, and low tunings for years, so I just had to get this. I bought it right away, and already wrote three songs the first day. Great video, by the way.
As far as I know, people buy baritone guitars so that they can sing songs in lower keys while using chord forms they learned in higher keys. For instance, with a capo on the first fret of a baritone, you can play a D chord shape, and produce a C chord (a full step lower). I am tempted to do this so I can sing songs I wrote when I was younger in keys a bit high for me now. It would be helpful to know the nut width and fretboard radius of this guitar.
Just stumbled upon baritone acoustics, like what I'm hearing so far. I am Not a fan of the baritone electrics but this has definitely peaked my interest. Thank you for making this video, I appreciate it.
Danny i have this guitar and i replaced the nut&saddle with bone and got tusq bridge pins, plus i put on martin strings instead of the daddario, made the world of difference! it's got great clarity and sounds more awesome than it first did. just trying to help from one player to another ;)
In 1986, I was shopping for a dreadnaught, and was comparing Alvarez Yairi and Martin. I bought the Alvarez. Bad move in terms of resale value in 2019! At the time I didn't know that Martin was made of solid woods and the Alvarez had laminate back and sides. It was just cheaper and it sounded and felt good. And there have certainly times I've regretted it. I have more expensive, all solid guitars, but I still play that Alvarez quite a bit, and it still sounds and feels very good. It's never had a problem requiring service, even a setup, in 33 years. It's been overseas and on flights back several times, sometimes checked as baggage. I never thought of humidifying it, and I guess it didn't need it. There are benefits to laminate back and sides guitars if they're done well.
David Rothberg i have a 1980 alvarez 5013 that has amazing tone. Played a Martin d18 last week that blew my mind but it’s not better than my mij 5013. Some of them are special
I bought one on the basis of this video actually. I brought mine down to A to A and seems to be doing well. Might need to adjust the truss rod as it seemed very flat, but I'll hold off on that for a bit. I'm enjoying it so thanks for your review!
Here is a video review I have made for the Alvarez ABT60 Acoustic Baritone Guitar. A really moody and dark sounding acoustic guitar. #Alvarez #Baritone #Guitar
Really well played mate and the guitar is lovely. In all honesty, I'd own at least 6 or 7 acoustics if I had the money and space! I've just added a baritone to my list too now :D
"as you play this instrument you can feel it vibrating inside you" xD. that was deep. ha ha ha. i love this review. i think i'm gonna love this guitar. good stuff.
They're also ridiculously under-priced. In the states, Musicians Friend has 'em for $399. Free shipping. Your video convinced me to order one today. Thanks.
I played an old used Alvarez for 30 years, in different weathers, outside it always reacted less to cold than heat, I used the same gage string like religion same frets, adjusted 3or 4 times when it was stolen I nearly had a funeral. less than 250$ never capo'd I ran the highway hichin and hangin with hippies what a life
yes it did Dany. including, floating in frys Creek, 1976! my friend and I were to play an outdoor thing in this Backwoods thing! in had rained and flash flooded, we were in an old drop top Pontiac. We came to a Creek, and he said! look Pea! this is it! I said wait! what are you gona! Dam man don't! but he drove into the creek to cross it, and that old car became buoyant. and began to float and fill with water and the old gig bag, a (zip up)! looked like a blown up plastic bag, only one option. so I just grabbed the "bird" of the day by the hand, and she, and I and that rubber like gig bag went swimming. I remember thinking! She looks really good wet! dam my fuckin balls are wet! hey my guitar is floating. Far out! but we made it out, with me Laughin, and the bird bitchin, about her clothes, I said hell! here let me help you out of those wet clothes, your runnin around necked all the time anyway. We missed that jam, missed the crossing by about 100 yards, stoney had sank our chariot! And the only true hero! was that dam fine water proof gig bag.
+Anthony James Brown Probably because the strings are a lot thicker the capo probably doesn't have the strength to pin the strings down. I think you can get capos where you can adjust the tension that might work?
Thanks for your reply. I have the planet waves tri action adjustable capo. When adjusted it has sufficient tension but pulls the strings so hard over the frets it goes out of tune. Also, the action is a tad higher than my J200. I'm considering lowering it a bit. Did you make any modifications to your ABT60?
Hey, thanks for the review. Just about to get an ABT60, but wondering about the ABT60E, fitted with the SYS550 pickup. Any experience of this electro version?
yea its a brilliant guitar for the money, i still have the stock strings that it came with but about to restring it with a set of Elixir strings with the nano web coating that stops them rusting.

This is the first video of yours I've watched.
That riff at the beginning hooked me to subscribe.
Don't ever quit playing guitar.
Thanks Sam, don’t worry i don’t intend to quit 😎

How did you get on with the guitar?
@@DannysGuitarChannel loving it. flamingo guitar sounds wild on it. need to go back and learn more on how to play flamingo guitar

Glad your enjoying the guitar and that my video helped you to decide on the right guitar. My Alvarez is the main acoustic I play at the moment :)
I may have convinced a buddy to get one too so the baritone goodness is being spread around!
slap .72 gauge strings for A tuning on it.
'Exactly what i'm looking for and the price tag is definitely good aswell.
+Puny Poppy They are great guitars I really like the quality of Alvarez instruments :)
Here is a video review I have made for the Alvarez ABT60 Acoustic Baritone Guitar. A really moody and dark sounding acoustic guitar.

Wilson, Neva J. Thanks very much :)
Bought one a while ago on special for half price .. Awesome guitar
Their brilliant guitars, favourite acoustic I have owned I wouldn't hesitate to own another Alvarez instrument :)
Great video! I also 2nd the 12-string baritone idea. :)
Dolce Dolente
Veilette Guitars make a 12 string Baritone. But the price is around 4000€...
Taylor makes one. Got the $$$ ?
Really well played mate and the guitar is lovely. In all honesty, I'd own at least 6 or 7 acoustics if I had the money and space! I've just added a baritone to my list too now :D
Thanks a lot, I love the way the Baritone acoustic sounds. The Alvarez ABT60 is a brilliant acoustic instrument :)

Sounds like that guitar saw some good times ;)
which gauge and brand strings do you have on this?
oh so true'

Thats a great story, you should let Alvarez guitars know about that adventure, lucky that gig bag was waterproof :)
What songs are you playing? Would love to learn those riffs.
where do you get strings for that?
Hi. I just bought one of these, but my capo doesn't seem to work well on it. Any thoughts?
+Anthony James Brown Probably because the strings are a lot thicker the capo probably doesn't have the strength to pin the strings down. I think you can get capos where you can adjust the tension that might work?

***** No I didn't make any modifications to mine but I haven't tried using a capo with it. I expect the lower action will help with the capo :)
Hey, thanks for the review. Just about to get an ABT60, but wondering about the ABT60E, fitted with the SYS550 pickup. Any experience of this electro version?
Hello, I haven't tried out the electro version so can't give an opinion on it. The standard ABT60 is a really great instrument.
Can this be turned to A ?
Hi Danny , nice vid. I have the same axe but must say yours sounds even ballsier. What strings are you using? Unbelievable guitar for the money.
yea its a brilliant guitar for the money, i still have the stock strings that it came with but about to restring it with a set of Elixir strings with the nano web coating that stops them rusting.
great review thanks :) real bone nut and saddle is not real bone it's just called real bone ;)
Well thats confusing if that is the case :/
Bought this and was blown away. Much better than $1,600 Taylor. Changed whole perspective. Use capo on second fret for best balance.
I'd love to hear it played when tuned down to D instead of all the way to B.
Baritones tuned to B always sound too "flabby" to me.
Sounds fantastic! I'm sure your playing had *a little* to do with it. :-)
Thanks a lot :)
idk if its your playing or the guitar but theres lots of fret buzz
+tristannolan85 Probably my playing but I haven had the guitar set up in a while something I must get round to doing
Saying don't forget to subscribe always makes me so forgetful
классс :)
only thing i dont like about this one is all the fret buzz. dont get that with the taylor. obviously ten times the price lol just sayin
Andy Mckee is that you? lol
😂
