    Thanks!!! I had the same issue, the hose was pushed out of the grommet. I cut the hose then used a 3/8 double barb hose connector to reconnect the hose, but this allowed me to add a 1/2”+ more length to the hose so now it further seated in the firewall grommet.

    good man for explaining what tools you used and small tips not to break shit, we appreciate the timeless knowledge! woke up to 2inches of rain in my 12' tdi lol..

      My ‘13 leaked a gallon into my passenger side during heavy rain.
      On Drivers side, screwed my computer/fuses.
      Headliner already down.
      Hit or miss if the car will start. Horrific.

    Thank you...after seeing this video I was able to fix my sunroof drain tube leak on my 2013 Passat. The tube got detached from the rubber grommet and water was all over the passenger footwell. What a relief...the dealership wanted $500 to replace the drain tubes on both sides saying there was a block.

      Where did the tube become disconnected? At the moonroof or at the point where it goes into the fire wall?

    You're a legend dude! I had the same problem only on the driver side. Not sure how im going to go about reconnecting the hose, but at least i know where the problem is. Ill probably take the passenger side panel off real quick too just to make sure everything is ok over there while I'm at it!

      @@ruanj0302 Ya I was able to get enough slack in the hose to reconnect it. My only concern now is if it happens again, I was tempted to use some adhesive to strengthen the connection but decided against it incase it ever gets clogged again. Drying out the car was the hardest part.

  • @leonl.7429

    Thank you so much for the video. My leak is from the spot at 1:33, closer to the sunroof opening and not the drain holes, those are relatively clear. But that sport at 1:33 leaks right down the A pillar into the footwell any time it rains even if the sunroof is closed. I'm looking for any videos on that part or if I have to start removing parts from the top.

    • @300superMEXICANS
      @300superMEXICANS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you've looked up and down the line all the way? Sometimes it will disconnect at the top and the hose needs to be pushed back on.

    • @leonl.7429
      @leonl.7429 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@300superMEXICANS Yup looked up and down the line. I cleaned the lines. If I pour water directly into the drain it flows down to the wheel well. However what I discovered is those two mesh holes along the rail drain right into the headliner (for some reason I can't figure out). It must have been that my sunroof drains were clogged then accumulated water moved to those two mesh holes and leaked into the headliner and down into the footwell. That's my theory at least

    • @jmcnite1
      @jmcnite1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leonl.7429 did you ever figure this out? I’m having the exact same issue with my 2010 GTI. I did cut the ends in the fire wall and there was a bunch of gunk in them but then when I poured water into the little screens on the passenger side of the moonroof it does exactly the same as what yours did. I can’t imagine the tube would be clogged all the way to the top of the sunroof?

    • @jmcnite1
      @jmcnite1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@300superMEXICANS I’m having the same issue as Leon. If it is disconnected at the top by the roof how do I get all the back in there through the head liner without damaging it?

    • @leonl.7429
      @leonl.7429 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jmcnite1 so yes I managed to sort the issue to the best of my ability. I did exactly as above. Cut the tips off the drainage hoses, cleaned and rinsed the tubing out. I grabbed a large pitcher of water with a spout that I use for plants. Poured it directly into four drain holes in the top of the sunroof to make sure they were draining into the wheel wells, they were no longer clogged and importantly no water ended up on the footwells of the car. Then I grabbed some waterproof grease and greased up the mesh portions and the two little holes along the rail of the sunroof. I genuinely don’t know the purpose of those mesh holes and the two little holes on the track but I do know that if water gets in there it leaks directly into the headliner and will end up inside the car.
      I can only imagine that one a very rainy week, the drains were so clogged that water ended up sitting on those holes and draining into the floor. I have had the car for almost five years without this issue happening until this randomly. I haven’t had the issue come back since I cleaned the drains and greased up those ingress spots. Good luck hope this helps.

    Thanks for showing all the specifics. On another topic, what kind of air filter is that? That whole intake looks custom. Do you still run the OE MAF sensor?

    • @300superMEXICANS
      @300superMEXICANS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a mash up of a nuespeed intake and an ecs intake, together they're ID is larger than a few other intakes I looked at but I am thinking about switching over too the IE intake for a cleaner look and from what I've read better performance. I do still run the oem sensor its in between the first half of the intake and the second

      One I found recently use a set of channel locks. One side under the back part of the wiper blade, the other on top of the spindle then squeeze. Might need to adjust it here and there but it'll come off.

      @@300superMEXICANS Thanks for the super fast reply! I've been lifting perpendicular to the windshield and have been putting a few fingers behind the cowl where the lip meets the windshield (can't get my entire hand behind the cowl). • @300superMEXICANS
      @300superMEXICANS  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @StockDC2 it's a rubber trim that holds it in so if you do have some that's broken you could grab the bit in the trim with some needle nose pliers and pull. I had to do that with my coilovers because the plastic is starting to deteriorate and become fragile

    • @300superMEXICANS
      @300superMEXICANS  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used 2 sets of long needle nose pliers and just worked them back together. There's a way to use some barb connectors that may be a better idea because these hoses will shrink over time and may end up being too short.

    • @jadowsejd
      @jadowsejd 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your reply i managed to get it in with my fingers but a pulled the other end off sunroof the pipe has shrunk damm so i got a barb hose connector attached it to the end qith jubilee clip and it gave me a extra 40 mm to connect it to the nipped so all good for now lets hope it works time to try and dry the carpets now .
