    The flap on bottom is to keep bugs from crawling up there making silk nest. Then it blocks up. Try to use the weed trimmer nylon line

    • @300superMEXICANS

      I used 2 sets of long needle nose pliers and just worked them back together. There's a way to use some barb connectors that may be a better idea because these hoses will shrink over time and may end up being too short.

      @StockDC2 it's a rubber trim that holds it in so if you do have some that's broken you could grab the bit in the trim with some needle nose pliers and pull. I had to do that with my coilovers because the plastic is starting to deteriorate and become fragile

    Thank you so much for the video. My leak is from the spot at 1:33, closer to the sunroof opening and not the drain holes, those are relatively clear. But that sport at 1:33 leaks right down the A pillar into the footwell any time it rains even if the sunroof is closed. I'm looking for any videos on that part or if I have to start removing parts from the top.

    • @300superMEXICANS
      @300superMEXICANS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@300superMEXICANS Yup looked up and down the line. I cleaned the lines. If I pour water directly into the drain it flows down to the wheel well. However what I discovered is those two mesh holes along the rail drain right into the headliner (for some reason I can't figure out). It must have been that my sunroof drains were clogged then accumulated water moved to those two mesh holes and leaked into the headliner and down into the footwell. That's my theory at least

    • @jmcnite1

      @@leonl.7429 did you ever figure this out? I’m having the exact same issue with my 2010 GTI. I did cut the ends in the fire wall and there was a bunch of gunk in them but then when I poured water into the little screens on the passenger side of the moonroof it does exactly the same as what yours did. I can’t imagine the tube would be clogged all the way to the top of the sunroof?

    • @jmcnite1

      @@300superMEXICANS I’m having the same issue as Leon. If it is disconnected at the top by the roof how do I get all the back in there through the head liner without damaging it?

    • @leonl.7429
      @leonl.7429 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jmcnite1 so yes I managed to sort the issue to the best of my ability. I did exactly as above. Cut the tips off the drainage hoses, cleaned and rinsed the tubing out. I grabbed a large pitcher of water with a spout that I use for plants. Poured it directly into four drain holes in the top of the sunroof to make sure they were draining into the wheel wells, they were no longer clogged and importantly no water ended up on the footwells of the car. Then I grabbed some waterproof grease and greased up the mesh portions and the two little holes along the rail of the sunroof. I genuinely don’t know the purpose of those mesh holes and the two little holes on the track but I do know that if water gets in there it leaks directly into the headliner and will end up inside the car. I can only imagine that one a very rainy week, the drains were so clogged that water ended up sitting on those holes and draining into the floor. I have had the car for almost five years without this issue happening until this randomly. I haven’t had the issue come back since I cleaned the drains and greased up those ingress spots. Good luck hope this helps.

      Not much at all just some vibrations when taking off, also my car is mt i have heard that on the dsg they vibrate like crazy when stopped. Also be careful when with the billet insert it will tear up your bushing and add a fair bit of slop and can cause you to snap your dog bone under a launch. To avoid this you should do upgraded motor and transmission mounts at the same time if you do a billet insert.

      @@IvoRuestRossi no a problem! If you are talking the completely solid rubber puck they're not bad and just a little vibration on take off like the billet one im actually running that now since the billet insert chewed up my old mount. If you're looking for like an easy upgrade that'll improve feeling id recommend just the rubber insert because they dont chew up your mount and you can get a little less vibration on take off. If you dont mind vibration i would recommend ecs tunings upgraded mounts, motor, transmission, and dogbone. They vibrate a good bit but it such a more solid feeling drive.
